Joy To The World: Internet Explorer 6 Is Dead!
2012-01-06 12:55:00 If you ask any web developer or website designer, what is the worst problem faced by them, 9 out of 10 will tell you; incompatible browsers. More specifically, people who are stuck on old, deprecated versions of Internet Browsers. Internet Explorer 6 was the default browser bundled with all Windows PC’s and laptops since way back in 2001. This means hundreds of millions of people used IE6Â by default. As Opera, Chrome, Safari and Firefox released more advanced and easy to use browsers, there still remained millions of people stuck on IE6, simply because they did not know how to or did not want to switch to an upgraded browser. Microsoft released IE7, IE8 and now IE9, but there still existed computers running the old IE6. Now, finally, after a concerted effort by Microsoft, they can finally announce that the dreaded IE6 is dead. In March 2011, Microsoft launched the site IE6CountDown.com, in an effort to raise awareness of upgrading one’s browser. Here is what the websit...

Use Internet Explorer 9 & Win7 With Homeshop18 To Win Cash Voucher
2011-12-29 13:21:00 Here is a strategy we don’t recall seeing before. We have seen companies tie up with brands to promote mobile phones, cars and even laptops. But now we have a company ready to give customers cash vouchers simply for using their free Internet Browser. If this isn’t a sign that the Browser Wars has got serious, we don’t know what is. Microsoft has teamed up with E-Commerce Portal HomeShop 18. In an effort to promote usage of Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9, they have come up with a way to ensure more eyeballs on their site, while giving you a Rs. 250 gift voucher. Says Sundeep Malhotra, CEO, HomeShop18, “We feel proud to partner with Microsoft to offer easy access to our ecommerce portal HomeShop18.com. With this association, we wish to introduce further unique technological benefits in order to strengthen our customer interface. Keeping all the consumer needs in mind, we have announced the association with Microsoft.†S. Sundaram from Microsoft India added,â...

Is Internet Explorer The Top Web Browser In India? Yes, But Maybe Not For L
2011-08-03 14:58:00 The browsers war is nowhere near its end. Instead, it is getting fiercer with each passing day as “Internetkeeps adding more netizens to itâ€. And the top three players in this field, Microsoft, Mozilla and Google are fighting it out hard, day in day out, to be at the top most slot. In India where there are about 100 million active internet users, Internet Explorer (IE) has long been a favorite web browser. Due to reasons quite obvious, IE monopolized the browser world until Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and the likes entered the field. But things have changed significantly over time. Today Firefox seems to be gobbling up a major share of the global browser market. With 28.04% of the total share, it is the second most popular web browser in the world, whereas IE has 42.42%. The scenario is quite interesting in India as well. A data from StatCounter reveals that Firefox is on the verge of becoming the top browser in the country. While IE has a market share of 33.6%, Firefox is a...

Microsoft Launches Internet Explorer 9, Now Available To Download
2011-03-16 05:53:00 Yesterday, we had reported that, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is loosing market share in India, as well as in other major markets. Users are changing their preferences and shifting to Chrome and Firefox. This not the first time that such a trend has been reported. We had previously informed about the decline of Microsoft back in June 2010, after a report from Statcounter, and again in December when Net Applications released its Browser Market share statistics. But, Microsoft will not go down without a fight. They have officially launched their much anticipated browser, Internet Explorer 9, at SXSW. The release to world build has been launched months after the beta version made available, which saw over 2 million downloads in just two days after it’s launch. The beta along with the release candidate, which was unveiled last month, have seen more than 40 million downloads. Dose IE9 have what it needs to compete with the likes of Firefox and Chrome? It does…And pac...

Internet Explorer 9 Beats Other Browsers In HTML5 Compliance?
2010-11-05 07:30:00 In its first ever tests to ascertain browsers’ conformity to HTML5, the World Wide Web (W3) Consortium has announced that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 is well ahead of other major browsers in terms of the compliance. Seven major features of HTML5 specifications viz. attributes, audio, canvas, getelementsbyclassname, foreigncontent, video and xhtml5 were covered in the test conducted. Elements like web workers, local storage, the file API and other specs like CSS were not tested. CSS has nothing to do with HTML5 but Apple, Google and Microsoft hide it under the cover of HTML5.All is not well about IE9 but it scored better than the lot. However, Google’s Chrome stands almost similar to it except that it stays behind in the xhtml5 test. Finally, Microsoft seemed to have acknowledged the existence of web standards. This way, it can be inferred that Microsoft could be working hard back stage to win back developers, which it does not normally attract. Moreover, there has been ...

Internet Explorer 9 – 2 Million Downloads And Counting… Back I
2010-09-24 06:01:00 Microsoft is back again in the browser war with it’s all new Internet Explorer 9 and is a huge improvement compared to it’s earlier version IE8 and it already seems to have become a hit among users just because  two days after the release of Internet Explorer 9 Beta,  has been downloaded over 2 million times by users across the globe. Faster and Smoother IE9 is undoubtedly a huge improvement over IE8, IE9 has switched the Trident rendering engine from running on the now-elderly GDI to hardware-accelerated DirectX and thus is much faster and also DirectX rendering makes animation and graphics move far faster and much more smoothly, plus text is much smoother and easier to read.Apart from others some of the very interesting features of IE9 include Pinned sites, One box and new Tab functionality. Moorthy Uppaluri, General Manager, Developer Partner Evangelism, Microsoft India said ”  IE9 is a fresh take at building a browser that surfaces the beauty of the web b...

First look at Internet Explorer 9 Platform Preview
2010-03-17 15:51:00 After unveiling Internet Explorer 9 for the first time at the Professional Developers Conference in 2009, Microsoft has finally made a first version of its new browser available for download. Well, not exactly. What you get when hitting the download link on Microsoft’s website is not what I’d call a web browser; it’s more of a web-capable playground with a bunch of testing links that lets you check all the new features included in the all new Internet Explorer 9. A stripped-down tool with testing material provided by the developers themselves is not really the perfect environment for trying out a brand new web browser. But at least Microsoft allows us to take a sneak peek at the new capabilities coming up in Internet Explorer 9, even if it’s still at a very early stage of development. It’s great to see how the new JavaScript multicore engine is much faster, and renders seamless, smooth animations in graphics, text and maps. Most of the tests are orien...

Dejen morir a Internet Explorer 6

Microsoft Sending Windows 7 To Europe Without Internet Explorer - A Sign Of
2009-06-16 06:26:00 Ever mindful of the watchful eyes of the European Union, Microsoft has confirmed the rumours that it will not be including Internet Explorer in the latest version of its operating system Windows 7, that it ships in Europe. In fact, no browser will included in the operating system by default. This comes as a precautionary measure to last season’s hefty fine of 1.7 billion Euros which EU levied on the software giants. Microsoft was charged with unfairly using its operating system monopoly to squeeze into other software markets. And apparently, the European Union is still not happy with the decision because Microsoft is not including any alternatives and is thus restricting consumers choice of browsers. ”Rather than more choice, Microsoft seems to have chosen to provide less,” it said in an official statement. Computer dealers have the easy options to add the browser, ship another browser or mix it up with multiple browsers. ”To ensure that Microsoft is in comp...

Microsoft puts OneRiot real time search in Internet Explorer 8
2009-06-01 07:00:00 On May 29th Microsoft launched Bing its new decision engine with much fanfare (they are pumping in more than 80M $ for adverts on Bing!), and there have been some pretty good reviews about it. But one more important update from Microsoft that got buried in all the hoopla was the fact that it has now decided to bundle the new IE8 with search and webslices from OneRiot, the popular social search engine which indexes in real time. This is the one of the first attempts from Microsoft to keep up with the race of being real time in the current web. What is OneRiot? In short, OneRiot aims to be the perfect social search engine that updates in real time from the popular social media services like Twitter, Digg etc. This method might prove to be more accurate when it comes to finding current events. This is becuase by digging, re-tweeting or sharing links to web pages, people are signaling that the content on those pages is relevant to them right now. OneRiot takes those trends, indexes the ...

Disable Internet Explorer In Windows Xp
2009-04-25 07:39:00 Disable Internet Explorer In Windows XpMicrosoft's Internet Explorer has been a top objective of assault for spyware merchants and additional annoying computer geeks. It is for this reason why many people have turned to alternative web browsers for their web navigation and viewing needs. In the event that you are operating another web browser and do not use Internet Explorer, it is argued that you should remove it altogether. It is, after all, a prospective safety danger, therefore, if you are no longer using it why not uninstall it from your system? However, removing IE is not that straight forward. In truth, with following variants of Windows there is no acceptable method of taking it off entirely without endangering the Windows operating system itself. There are several methods available on the net instructing you in disabling Internet Explorer on a PC. Alternatively, you are able to totally disable the application using the internet settings which render the browser useless and ...

O quizás no...

SDL e falha de XML Parser do Internet Explorer
