Iraq veteran uses rap to treat his PTSD
2012-05-16 03:37:00
On one of the many days Leo Dunson wanted to die, the Iraq veteran put a gun to his temple and pulled the trigger. The loaded weapon misfired. For the troubled former soldier, it was another inexplicable failure, like his divorce or inability to make friends after returning from the war. In a Las Vegas recording studio, Dunson rapped about his life: “What’s wrong with me? Got PTSD. These pills ain’t working, man, I still can’t think.” One in six Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder in 2011, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Some committed suicide. Others are receiving mental health services at military hospitals. Many more are like Dunson and have refused help, according to research by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Center for PTSD.

The attacks were the first serious violence since mid-April when a wave of bombings killed 36 people across the country, including an attack involving three car bombs and a suicide bomber in which 15 people died in Baghdad. ...
U.S. ARMY VETERAN EXPLAINS WAR
2012-05-11 14:00:00
The following is a thought-provoking speech delivered by political activist and former United States soldier, Mike Prysner. He goes on to explain how the institution of racism is pivotal in enforcing war and fooling the masses into dying for oppressive causes. As if it weren't any more clear, the speech exposes how the poor are sent to obliterate other poor people on a sadistic global checkerboard for the elite. Good morning Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and the list that goes on...

Oil & Politics ? The Real Situation in Iraq
2012-03-09 20:19:00
A delegation from the International Energy Agency spent two days in Baghdad speaking with high-ranking officials in preparation for an end-of-year report on the country’s oil sector. By some estimates, Iraq could hold some of the largest oil reserves in the world and an international auction for oil and natural gas blocks is planned for May. Without a hydrocarbon law, and considering the fractured political system, the IEA’s report may be more about political obstacles than oil potential, however. Baghdad announced triumphantly this week that oil production increased to more than 3 million barrels per day for the first time in more than 30 years. Exports, the government said, should increase substantially once a new floating oil terminal . . . → Read More: Oil & Politics – The Real Situation in Iraq

US Iraq withdrawal a "smokescreen"-- John Pilger (video) w Mars/Neptune smo
2011-12-20 16:26:00
(GRTV) ? Announcing the Iraq war was ended, Barack Obama told US troops on 14 December 2011, ?The United States military is the finest fighting force in the history of the world.?What he didn?t say is that since 1945 the US military has been directly responsible for the deaths of over 10 million people and that America has in that time overthrown 50 governments, including democracies, and intervened in at least 30 more.John Pilger has something to say about that: Mr. Pilger makes very good points as always but to my mind, it isn't just America doing these things according to her own plans, it's globalists directing her as she acts as their military arm on the world stage for their ultimate goal of world domination. Then there's the question of Iraq coming more under foreign domination with Iran leading the bunch. Bush screwed up every business he ran before he played president, so it's a given that he'd screw up Iraq and turn the nation into a Christmas gift for Iran.Well, if yo...
The Ramble for 12-19-11: Tebow; Hitch; Iraq Not Over; Role Reversals; Oil A
2011-12-19 15:22:00
Carlisle, PA--After three highly unusual weeks of running to the west it appears as though I will be spending the remainder of this year running east.  That’s a bit more normal for this truck line.  Frankly, we’re experiencing a bit of a pre Christmas slowdown. I’m not worried.  I’ve seen this before.  From here, I will run to Schenectady, New York.  And then from there, well, we’ll find out tomorrow. Tim Tebow: Yes, I know… His team lost yesterday, but that hardly matters to my point. Erikson tweets tweets: Regarding Tim Tebow, the last time this many people were interested in a white bronco was when OJ Simpson drove slowly down the road. Heh… yeah there is that. But let’s try a little experiment. Let’s imagine Tebow is Muslim. Does he still get the negative reaction he’s getting now from the usual suspects? Somehow, I think not. Just sayin’… Then from the other end… Hitch: Sorry to see him go&h...

On Leaving Iraq
2011-12-19 01:01:00
Some folks at the New York Times seem to think this is a  reason for celebration, via Doug Mataconis, Otside the Beltway: BAGHDAD — The last convoy of American troops to leave Iraq drove into Kuwait on Sunday morning, marking the end of the nearly nine-year war. The convoy’s departure, which included about 110 vehicles and 500 soldiers, came three days after the American military folded its flag in a muted ceremony here to celebrate the end of its mission. Call me old-fashioned, or just plain cynical, but as a veteran with an interest in military history, victory has not been defined by which side got to issue the first press release proclaiming victory.    After all Baghdad Bob will be remembered as a buffoon and a liar.    No the traditional claim  of military victory has been the last side left standing on or over the battlefield. Reax,Mataconis  : So, after 3,196 days, and 4,484 soldiers’  lives (plus 318 deaths among other coalition members), it’s finally over...

Dec 18, 2011: Brief Astro-Notes on US Iraq War Withdrawalby Jude CowellHow Maliki and Iran Outsmarted US Troop Withdrawal peeks underneath our military tent but with little face-saving as we clear out as per Iran's instructions, some are saying. As the last of US troops arrived in Kuwait this morning "around daybreak" after a necessarily secretive journey under cover of night, transit Saturn 27Lib17 was in 10th house (World Stage) and heading toward local Midheaven (MC 10Lib22) but America's natal Saturn 14Lib48 arrived at MC first. Will the US troop withdrawal be seen by the world as a "fall from grace", the most karmic of implications for any 10th H Saturn? (ex: Richard Nixon was born with Saturn in 10th H.) As part of the process, I should imagine, especially after the interminable 8-year reign of Wussy Bush and Shotgun Cheney with their imperilist dreams of global conquest.(For like most bullies, they don't go to much physical effort themselves, y'know, since they can bribe, i...
'Your Moment of Zen': End of Iraq War flag ceremony (Jon Stewart video)
2011-12-16 21:55:00
So many mixed feelings sweep over me as I watch the flag ceremony. You know? Never wanted either war, Afghanistan or Iraq, knew they'd be Vietnam-esque and they are of the quagmire variety of collective experiences...brutal and soul-shattering.And so our national soul is soiled once again and the stains are deep. 'Old men start wars for young men to fight' is as true a maxim today as it was whenever someone first strung the words together and said, Hmmph!Happily, it is with this post that I again have a chance to say, Welcome Home, US Soldiers! I'm very glad you've come ashore and I wish you all safe passages to calmer waters! Bless you and your families, JudeNow that things are shifting like the desert sands of Iraq, it is my personal opinion that George Bush, Dick Cheney, and other crony war profiteers of a globalist persuasion owe the American people a very large amount of money for starting two wars and to somewhat make amends for their vast mismanagement of our public fund...
The Iraq War (finally) ends -- 2003-2011.
2011-12-16 00:19:00
Eight long years later...and what did we accomplish? After nearly nine years, some 4,500 American fatalities and about $1 trillion, America's war in Iraq is about to end. Officials marked the finish Thursday with a modest ceremony at the airport days before the last troops traverse the southern highway to Kuwait, going out as they came in, to conclude the United States' most ambitious and bloodiest military campaign since Vietnam. Iraqis will be left with a country that is not exactly at war, and not exactly at peace. It has improved in many ways since the 2007 troop "surge," but it is still a shattered country marred by violence and political dysfunction, a land defined on sectarian lines whose future, for better or worse, is now in the hands of its people. In the hands of a people who still want to kill each other: There are still roughly a dozen insurgent groups and militias active in Iraq: Sunni groups made up of former members of the ruling Baath Party and the home-grown ...

Could War Flare Again Between Iraq and Kuwait?
2011-12-12 16:09:00
According to Iraqi Council of Representatives Oil and Energy Committee member Furat al-Sharei, the 10 oil fields that spread across the Iraqi-Kuwaiti frontier are still waiting to have a line drawn through them to delineate the border, more than eight years after a coalition led by U.S. forces toppled the regime of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. According to al-Sharei, the two countries must first collaborate in developing legislation for equitably sharing the fields before oil extraction can begin, noting, "The problem of the common fields can be resolved by developing legal mechanisms." While Iraq and Kuwait are now at peace, many of the border issues that led to conflict two decades ago remain, which no amount of . . . → Read More: Could War Flare Again Between Iraq and Kuwait?

Julian Assange On Al Jazeera
2010-10-28 15:43:00
It was not a surprise or a scoop to found the Wikileaks? Julian Assange speaking on Al Jazeera Arabic after the publishing of Iraq logs , it was logic especially that the website chose Al Jazeera from all channels in the world to launch the logs to the Arab world. Julian Assange was interviewed by Ahmed Mansour last night on Al Jazeera news channel for nearly an hour on air from London. Assange was invited to come to Doha for the interview from three weeks ago but he declined and preferred London for security reasons. Assange is aware for the extradition agreements and knows very well how Doha hosts the largest American military base in the region. Ahmed Mansour has good intentions but Assange I believe knows well how the Qatari regime can sell him in one second to the Americans. The man does not deny that he is living a security nightmare. You can watch the interview below in Arabic after the break Julian Assange in Al Jazeera Assange seemed to be sick and yet he came to th...
Robert Fisk Writes About Wikileaks? Iraq Logs

Robert Fisk has to write about Wikileak?s Iraq logs , who else will !!? The Shaming of America must be read till the end because it is not about the shame America tried to hide but it is about many things our dear old Fisk remembers and discusses including the challenge and the future of the investigative journalism with the existence of Wikileaks and Assange.  Speaking of Simon Hersh I wonder if we will be able to find one day the tapes showing children being sodomized in Abu Gharib which he spoke about leaked like these documents . Like Fisk in the beginning , we knew this all the time because our people in Iraq lived and saw but it is the turn of the world to see and act as well. Unfortunately we are not paying attention as a nation , as in Egypt , as we should to the Iraq Logs , only our regime is happy that Iran and its allies are mentioned , you know it is like Adel Emam?s scene in his play ?An eye witness that saw nothing? { Is my name there!!??}  Egypt?s n...
