Job Hunting for Introverts
2008-05-22 22:29:00
According to a recent post in the bookofjoe, the ten best paid jobs for introverts are: 1. Astronomer 2. Lawyer 3. Physicist 4. Political Scientist 5. Aerospace engineer 6. Computer software engineer (systems software) 7. Actuary 8. Electronics engineer 9. Computer software engineer (applications) 10. Atmospheric and space scientist I wouldn’t have thought that being a lawyer was an ideal introvert’s job, but I guess that some lawyers don’t court the limelight (pardon the pun). Unfortunately I’m not qualified or very interested in any of the above jobs, so we’ll have to keep on looking. From time to time I look in the newspaper job sections or on some recruitment websites, but there’s nothing that grabs me. As I don’t want to continue with admin work or management in general, I’m feeling a bit stuck. I thought about working in a casino as I’m a night person, but I’ve never worked in the hospitality industry and don’...

Pinay Sex Scandal and Job Hunting
2008-04-10 12:26:00
The two aren't related. But the other one would probably help a lot in driving in pervert surfers in the net. This is my first try at using SEO. I have read a lot of articles discussing these SEO thing. Until now, I haven't tried doing that.Today, I started my 'real' job hunting spree. Because most of the job huntings that I've done in the past were through online submission which gained no results. I went to a certain call center company along Commonwealth Avenue. It is not a popular or well-heard of call center company in the Philippines. Itago na lang natin ito sa alyas na CTI.Together with my girlfriend, we went there at about 9 A.M. We passed on our resumes to the security guard on the counter and waited until 10 A.M. for the exam. Then we took the exam. Gladly at hindi naman sa pagmamayabang, I got the highest score in the test: 201 points out of I think 250 or 300 items. It was really a good start. Rozie also passed. Then they asked us to come back by 1:30 for the oral ex...

Job-Hunting Tips for the Older Manager / Executive
2008-03-15 04:40:00
Job-Hunting Tips for the Older Manager / ExecutiveAre you an over-50, unemployed executive or manager? Been looking for a new job or career for a long time? Frustrated? Think it's hopeless? Finding a new job or career, at any age, is NOT hopeless. But it does demand knowledge, exposure to employment possibilities, and a positive attitude, especially as we grow older. It means that "Yes!," not "No," must be the operative word, the word that propels us toward what we really want to do (even when we're not quite sure what that is).The Challenge of FearPerhaps the greatest obstacle to all in the job market is fear. We fear that we will fail to find a new job or career, or that if we do, we will fail at it, not make enough money, get dead-ended, be unhappy, go backward in our career, etc.The trouble is that such fears can hold us back. In his wonderful best-seller Who Moved My Cheese?, Spencer Johnson, M.D., set forth a few simple rules that apply to most everything we do in life, incl...
The Waiting Game
2008-03-01 01:17:00
Well, Monday I handed out 3 resumes, Tuesday and Wednesday I filled out some online applications, since I had no ride around town, Thursday I handed out another 6 resumes. All there is to do now is wait. Out of all the places I've handed in resumes and that I am hoping to get a job, the liquor store is my favorite. It's a very laid back atmosphere and the ladies who work there are all very friendly and a blast to talk to. I also got my first check from my PTC sites recently. Well, maybe not so recently, it was back in January, but then I lost the check. I found it a few days ago and thought I'd post it for you guys to check out. From Cash Crate. I know it's not huge, but hey, an extra check always helps! (yes mom, this means you have to sign up now :P) As you can see, they have a pretty low minimum payout. Let me know if you're interested in any info. You can sign up using my referral link, and I'm pretty sure you'll receive a free referral bonus of $5, which gets you...

Job hunting:
2007-11-03 12:22:00
It's shit. All jobs are wank. I'm really fed up with job hunting. It's becoming more tedious than actually doing a job. Ironically, It's kind of become a job. Albeit, an unpaid one. I'm really getting depressed now. I know that I need to get another job, but I can't bear it. I know that the next job I will get will be utter wank. I'll hate it, have to force myself to go and feel depressed constantly. This isn't living. It's existing. Bollocks to everything.

Corporate Flight Attendant Job Hunting Tips(Lowongan Kerja Online) - I will not pretend that this is the easiest topic to write about. Cold calling. Time honored and time tested this is an important method for finding work and it is also one of the hardest for the majority of people to do. If you do not have the skills to contact strangers you will find an important avenue for securing work omitted. Even the unskilled can accomplish much by attempting this step...practice, practice, practice and you will get the hang of it. You many never feel comfortab...

Job Hunting in Your New Location
2007-08-20 15:47:00
Chances are that you are relocating for business reasons. Not everyone does, of course, but a large percentage do. There is also a good chance that someone else in the household (spouse, partner) may need to job hunt in the new location. It may or may not be important for both of you to have jobs in order to proceed with buying a house. If it is, you will have to do your job hunt from a distance, and start early. So how do you do this (I have a Human Resources background, remember?)? On-line Job Boards - probably the most efficient, and the majority of jobs these days are advertised on one of the job boards as well as on company websites. Monster, Career Builder, and Hot Jobs are just a few (but maybe the best known of these sites out of thousands). You can post your resume and look for jobs. Newspapers - a bit archaic and cumbersome, perhaps, but depending n the area you are moving to may be a good option. You can often arrange for home delivery of the major paper fr...
Job hunting
2007-08-17 12:25:00
Right now I feel… DeterminedA lot of thinking and soul searching has led me to the conclusion that I must get a regular job. There is more than one reason. Finances… let’s not go there. But I feel I have been living in this cocoon of mine for long enough. Too long, actually. Did I mention I’m talking to myself? I probably did. It could be hilarious - sometimes I actually make myself laugh! - but it’s also kinda tragic. I’m really missing talking to people face to face on a daily basis - even if I’m basically a person who is perfectly comfortable with spending time alone. I’ve had the half-baked idea of finding some part-time employment for a long time. But that’s exactly what it was: half-baked. I did pay the ETC (employment agency) a visit some time last year, but that was all I expended in terms of effort. I believe it’s time for me to change things before I grow roots in my desk chair. Having brooded over the subject fo...

Job Hunting
2007-07-23 06:00:00
For the past few weeks, maybe months, my job hunting project has been pushed aside by more immediate concerns, like my various part-time online jobs. It’s a case of short-term expenses delaying my long-range goals. I desperately need to get back into the swing of the search, working on my resumes (plural, since I have multiple personalities, er, I mean personas) and applying for the few positions I may be qualified for. You can see the sort of thing that derails my plans in this Doodle by Lee of Lee's Doodles. So I’ve been collecting advice on finding the right job. Most of it isn’t good advice, so I’ll pass it along to you for a few laughs. The Interview Ways to NOT write a resume. More things NOT to say on your resume. The resume I wish I could send out. An animated musical resume! Well, his IS looking for a computer graphics job. Job Application. Not what you’d call a good one. ...

Top Ten Job Hunting Myths
2007-03-13 16:52:00
Kiplinger's Erin Burt posted these 10 job hunting myths over 2 years ago, and I just found them posted by Clipmark's skwirlinator. However, many of these ideas have aged well over the past two years and I believe they are relevant for today's college grads. My commentary is the italicized text below Erin's words of wisdom: 1. Finding a job after college will be quick and easy. Stevie-baby's been saying this for a long time and nothing has changed. 2. The Internet is the best place to look for a job. NetworkNetworkNetwork!3. I'll make at least $40,000 at my first job out of college. Maybe, but don't pre-spend assuming it to be so. In fact, don't pre-spend period (esp if it's for a car!). Get over it - call Dave Ramsey if you need a good financial slap in the face. 4. There's no room for negotiation with an entry-level salary. There's no better time to start honing your salary-negotiation-skills. 5. The person who gets hired is the one who can do the job best. Th...
