A Positive Energy Landscape Hub
2009-09-18 07:53:00 Yes, it has a Wilson bi-fold garage door. Yes, it has translucent photovoltaic panels that also illuminate the interior workspace. Yes, it's heated and cooled by a geothermal system. And yes, it's pretty much the most amazing landscape storage shed around. Designed by Gray Organschi Architecture, this storage barn -- more appropriately a storage rack that doubles as an 800 square-foot building -- is the central hub for a landscape business in Washington, Connecticut. In order to hold the heavy landscape materials, Architect Magazine says Gray Organschi developed a cantilevered shelf standard with structural steel that accepts a standard 4 foot wide pallet. The resulting look is both dramatic and undetermined. Now, if you've ever used a forklift, you know that although you can get something to just about the right height, you might bang the side of the structure putting it into place. It'd be pretty unfortunate to poke a fork through one of the pol...

Social Landscape: Dylan Vitone, Jay Wolke and James Griffioen at David Wein
2009-09-11 17:26:00 by Niki GrangruthSocial Landscape is an ominous term to put on a collection of photographs, because it's meaning is diverse, vague and ambiguous. However, the collection of photographs at David Weinberg narrows the meaning of social landscape through three photographers who approach the subject of landscape identity in different, yet cohesive, ways....
changing the packaging landscape-one bottle at a time
2009-04-10 17:54:00 Scott Amron must be eagerly awaiting the lawyer's letters because his brave enough to push corporate buttons for a good cause. Eager to point out the lack of progress with recycling from some of the bog soap companies, he's taken it upon himself to do it for them. Buying soap in bulk, he then repackages it in old soda bottles and resells it. There's clearly a giant gap in the marketplace for the bulk supplies bring your own packaging retailer. Obviously, there are co-op grocers doing this on a small scale and Whole Foods has a small operation doing this, perhaps it's going to take one of the large discounters to make a leap and do this.It plays straight into the frugality space with American's seemingly doing anything to save a dime, you can easily imagine some of these giant unused shopping malls being turned into food warehouses that allow folks to buy product at a considerable discount and based on a sliding scale that takes the size of your container into account. Those see...

Each room in this hotel is more or less is like an individual small house with least one side of the wall made of glass. This provides every room with an awesome view of the beautiful landscape. It would be a difficult choice to make if one is asked what makes it really impressive, is it the design of the building or the location. Dry Landscape Garden.
2008-10-30 17:18:00 Dry Landscape Garden. The moment one refers to garden its presumed that it has lots of greenery. But here we have the 'Dry Landscape Garden' which is quite different to what one presumes. It is referred as Dry Landscape Garden, as in these gardens plants are much less important and at times are even nonexistent. The major constituents are sand, soil, rocks, and/or other natural elements. Below are a few pictures which we are sure will amaze us that even dry gardens can be beautiful.(Image: Credit).Other Posts:Bedtime Stories Blanket.Scotland's Painted Sheep.Google Sari By Satya Paul.Hand Painted Golf Ball Art.Lamps Worthy Of A Place In Your Home.

Mt. Bromo & Semeru, A Spectacular Volcanic Landscape in East Java
2008-07-12 19:15:00 The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park covers some 800 square kilometers in the centre of East Java. It is the largest volcanic region in the province and there stands Mt. Semeru, which rises 3676 meters above sea level. At its northern end is the spectacular Tengger Caldera, Java's largest, with its 10 km barren desert-like sea of sand. Within the caldera rise the deeply fissured volcanic cones of Batok and Bromo, the latter is still active with a cavernous crater from which smoke blows skyward. Temperatures at the top of mount Bromo range about 5 to 18 degrees Celcius . To the south is a rolling upland plateau dissected by valleys and dotted with several small scenic lakes, extending to the foot of Mount Semeru, a towering grey forest-skirted cone dominating the southern landscape.Tengger sandy area has been protected since 1919, and its believed to be the only conservation area in Indonesia, even probably in the world possessing a unique ocean and sand at the attitude about 2...

Design Your Landscape Like A Professional - Think Layers!
2008-06-07 07:00:00 By: Sharon Langston Have you ever wondered what makes the difference between a nice, neat looking yard and a breathtaking professionally landscaped one? One of the unspoken secrets of the pros is using layers in their designs. If you have any doubts about that, go to some of the most exclusive and expensive neighborhoods where you live and really look at the differences in those landscapes and the ones in the more middle-class areas. Big difference. Right? You can look at world-class and famous gardens such as Canada’s Buchart Gardens or the Missouri Botanical Gardens as well and you’ll see it there, too. It’s layers! Of course, there are many other elements about a design other than just using layers of plants, but this is the one that makes for a spectacular garden and landscape versus one that is attractive but somewhat mundane. In using layers, you’ll find for example, large shrubs in the background or maybe some of the tall slender Italian Cypress-type t...
The Global Landscape- Are You Prepared?
2008-06-04 21:28:00 For quite some time, I have been talking about a global economy, global diversity, and preparing myself to compete in this global society. While working on the translations of my company's new website, I've been learning a lot. I learned how having multi-lingual staff is as vitally important as having your website and other marketing material properly translated! Qu usted no sabe puede lastmele! (I hope I said that right!)Over the last few months, I've been diligently restructuring my company and strategically growing my staff to include bilingual and multilingual individuals. (More on that another time). If I am serious about remaining competitive and truly focusing on global diversity, I need to not only learn foreign languages myself, but also surround myself with a multilingual team. I will be unveiling a new Candidate Center on the website that will include the ability to learn new languages as part of professional development. I am very excited about this. How are you re...

Singapore Real broadband fight yet to come in new landscape
2008-05-07 00:02:00 Singapore Real broadband fight yet to come in new landscape Deal to lay infrastructure is just the first step; services on new highway will be the clincher By WINSTON CHAI (SINGAPORE) All three local telcos are vying for the right to build and own Singapore’s upcoming broadband network but industry experts believe the prize fight is not in the control of this infrastructure but the services that operators can provide using the high- speed links of the future. Mr Price: Axia’s approach is usually strongly opposed by market incumbents since it produces new competition and results in a new way of doing business in the sector This is because, unlike the current competitive landscape, Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) and StarHub will not gain a competitive advantage if the consortium they are backing clinches the government’s Network Company (NetCo) contract. Under the tender, which closed on Monday, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has m...

Educate Yourself On The Health Insurance Landscape Posted By : Albert Alexa
2008-04-26 06:05:00 Health insurance can be confusing, especially if it is your first time shopping around with different providers. Terms such as deductible, co-payments, and pre-existing conditions can be confusing if you do not know what they really mean. Many graduates think that the six months they have before the required scheduled repayment of their various college debts seems like forever. The six months is nothing compared to the years and years of payments ahead of you. A consolidation of student loans can make the monthly much less painful. Read more about finance and student loans.
Landscape Elements - Hardscapes
2008-04-25 02:17:00 A landscape is never complete if its soft elements are not completed correctly by its hardscape. Hardscape or “hardscaping” is composed of inanimate elements of landscaping, particularly the work of masonry or carpentry. For example, stone walls, concrete or brick patios, tile roads, bridges made of wood and wooden trees would all be considered as part of the hardscape. But hardscape goes beyond large-scale projects like these. Any non-life ornamentation in your landscaping is technically part of the hardscape.Without the clever arrangement of stone and other components hardscape, the most artistic landscape is not a framework for disable plants tastefully and beautifully. When designing your garden, always start by permanent structures. Let the physical area and its surroundings dictate the form and shape of your design. The wooden structures can be used in the garden to provide support for the plant material and define the elements of “outdoor rooms,” the truss becomes a wa...

Garden Landscape Furniture - Completing Your Outdoor Guest Area
2008-04-23 13:31:00 A very important part of the majority of landscape designs is the garden furniture that is to be used in the garden and lawn around the house. Outdoor Furniture included in a plan of landscaping is a way of creating special places in your garden, where the family and their guests can meet comfortably, relax and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
