Ziade attended primary school in Nazareth. As her father came to the Kesrouan region of Lebanon, at 14 years of age she was sent to Aintoura to pursue her secondary studies at a French convent school for girls. Her studies in Aintoura had exposed her to French literature, and Romantic literature, to which she took a particular liking. She attended several Roman Catholic schools in Lebanon and in 1904, returned to Nazareth to be with her parents. She is reported to have published her first articles at age 16. More on Wikipedia.

The Magical Cedars by Rodrigues
2012-02-06 20:59:00 Rodrigues took his camera, an iPhone propably, to Karm-Chbat Reserve in Akkar, Northern Lebanon and filmed what he says in his own world, “probably one of the best naturally preserved cedars forest in Lebanon”. He mentioned that the forest unveils it’s magic to it’s visitors anytime of the year. Getting the chance to be there however, right after a snow storm is a different story. Tebnin Castle
2012-01-26 13:43:00 The name “Tibnin” is Aramaic and means “constructing buildingt and also known as the “Toron” and “Tor”. The ancients took care of that ancient castle and it is said that the castle were built on a Phoenician one and the Romans reinforced by the Romans. The historian Dr. Philip Hitti wrote that the castle had been demolished again by the kings of the Assyrians and Chaldeans on their way to Tyre, then mentions that it was re-restored in the Greco-Roman which put the garrison to protect the convoys to commercial cities.

2011-12-20 13:09:00 Mar Challita cave in Qnat, Pigeons? cave in Qadisha valley, Ain el Libne cave and Merheb caveon the Aaqoura plateau and Jbab cave near Bouhairet Toula are some cave explored by Spekul, the caving club of the University of Leuven, Belgium. They wrote about Mar Challita cave that “After this, the river follows its way through a large gallery, where on the left side a collapse can be seen. Thirty meters further one arrives at the most beautiful and spectacular part of the cave, the ‘Cascade Rouge’. This is a waterfall of 3m high, falling down in the middle of coulees on the left and right side. On top of it, there are two ways on; on the right side, there is a gallery from where the water comes. The stream of water is split in a part that runs off the cascade, and another part that flows in the gallery on the left.” Info and images are here.

The goal was to make it to El Qbaiyat before dark, but the rucksacks that felt so light when we tried them on at home, turned into led when we hit the road. After one hour we had to stop for a beer. That’s when we met Elias. He served us whiskey, and gave us a warm bed to sleep in. The next morning, with no proper map, no GPS and no compass, we embarked on a quest through the fog into the deep forrest. ?
