Yet Kenji and Yumiko Kawashima, who arrived April 30 from Tokyo for a two-week stay, didn’t come for a vacation, but more of a pilgrimage. Either way, their trip illustrates the international reach of Chatfield’s Music Lending Library.

They have also pushed for their supremacy in the e-book segment by introducing various Kindleâs over the years with latest one being Kindle Fire. Amazon had recently introduced a e-book lending program which is roughly like the Netflix model. The e-books can be acquired through a public library lending program for free by paying a minimum subscription or by being a premium member. It seems like a sweet deal but the major publishers donât think so. Over concerns of piracy, publishers like Penguin have recently pulled out all their titles from the program. The program allows users with prime subscription accounts to borrow one e-book a month from a pool of 5000 books. But none of the six big publishers are too keen to get into the program. 2010-11-08 13:25:00 The Nanakshahi Trust based in Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab -Â has started a well thought out initiative by creating the Panjab Digital Library. The main objective of this library is to preserve the history of Punjab and the Sikhs by digitizing books, records and documents, and making them available online even after the originals cease to exist. This library would ensure that the literary heritage is not lost entirely when the original hard copies are destroyed due to natural calamities, fires or at times by humans themselves in the name of religion. These virtual copies would also solve the storage problem to a certain extent. If you havenât noticed it already, name of the library spells Punjab a bit differently. It has been spelt as Panjab.
