by Eric Berman Song Of The Day - "Squeeze Me" by Louis Armstrong and his All-Stars Two of the most kindred spirits in Jazz were Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong. Both had larger than life personalities and musical chops to spare. So it made perfect sense in 1955 for Armstrong to pay tribute to Waller on his stellar album "Satch Plays Fats." This version of Louis' All-Stars included Velma Middleton on vocals and Barney Bigard on clarinet....
Louis Armstrong, meet Drew Brees
2010-02-08 04:18:00
Fat Tuesday is a pagan holiday that comes every year in New Orleans. But today, for the first time, Super Sunday became religion. There are T-shirts in New Orleans that say "What would Breesus do?" They loved Drew Brees before the Super Bowl. Now they will canonize him. "It was all meant to be. It was all destiny," said Drew Brees. Who wants to argue? New Orleans equaled the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. Only fitting for a city that rose from the dead. It was one of the gutsiest Super Bowl victories. Sean Payton (Bears scab '87) went for it on a fourth and goal at the end of the first half and failed; he went for an...

Louis Armstrong: Hello Dolly
2008-06-01 13:05:00
There is just something about Louis Armstrong. Yes, he had a very unique voice. He played the trumpet as well, or better, than anyone but there was something more. He was a showman. Even in this very poor quality video, his showmanship shines through. Enjoy. Louis Armstrong: The Cucaracha
2007-10-23 13:46:00
I first heard La cucaracha from an old LP my dad had from the fifties (in HI-FI!) Wikipedia says it's of Mexican or possibly Spanish origin (it also says it's about marijuana, which didn't occur to me at age five [or even age 35]). Louis Armstrong thought it sounded best with a Cuban beat. Notice the 4-2 (Bo Diddley) beat from the claves. For more Cuban-influenced American music, go here. ;P
