Microsoft LifeCam Studio 1080p HD Webcam: Pictures tell stories!
2012-01-02 21:35:00
Pictures do tell stories. They have done that from the most ancient times when people tried to scratch cave’s walls in order to tell something about someone or just something else (like phenomena, for instance). Nowadays, we don’t scratch walls anymore; we post on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. And that is why a webcam has become a useful tool of communication. The criteria in choosing one are mostly the following: autofocus, HD resolution, good sound and the list stops pretty much here. The thing is it could all be reduced at HD sound and image, so an HD webcam. Such ...Original article - Microsoft LifeCam Studio 1080p HD Webcam: Pictures tell stories!

Durante una década y media Microsoft ha sido la mayor compañía tecnológica del mundo, la más conocida y la que mayores beneficios ha obtenido de media ejercicio tras ejercicio. Microsoft’s Attempts Again To Gobble-Up Yahoo: Signs Non-Disclosure A
2011-11-25 07:30:00
Despite losing in its US$44.6 billion attempt to acquire the company in 2008, Microsoft has reportedly signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that will allow it to take a closer look at Yahoo! Inc.’s financial information to help it consider financing a bid. Microsoft, along-with private equity firms Silver Lake and TPG Capital are keenly interested in a trove of riches that could be unlocked by providing stronger management to the failing internet giant. Today’s Yahoo is certainly in a much weaker position than it was in 2008, having fallen behind Google and newer Internet players like Facebook. However, Yahoo still remains a formidable entity, with its News site alone getting 81.2 million unique visitors in August & there are attempts to get back on track. However, this time around, the signing of NDA is not for Microsoft’s own takeover attempt. It seems the agreement is to help others or a team to consider acquisition. A growing number of parties have reportedly signe...

Microsoft India To Give WP7 Handsets To Student App Developers
2011-10-07 07:30:00
So far, Windows Phone 7 hasn’t exactly gained global popularity. While it has been hailed for its visually stunning Metro UI, it has lagged behind competitors like Android and iOS in two aspects. The first is functionality with several basic features missing. With Microsoft’s recently released Mango update and is now available with over 500 new features added. While the second problem was the lack of apps, Microsoft India has thought of an innovative new way to counter this: get students involved. Known as the “i unlock joy†Program, it is running from August 1st till December 18th, 2011. Microsoft Wants Another Slice Of The Android Pie: Asks Samsung To Oblige
2011-07-11 08:53:00
Microsoft has asked Samsung to pay it $15 for each Android device they have sold. The reason given is that they hold a wide range of patents which have been used so they owe then at least $15 for each device. Samsung is one of the largest producers of Android enabled phones, and the world’s second largest mobile phone manufacturer. In February this year, Microsoft tied up with aging giant Nokia in an industry-changing partnership where Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform would be used on Nokia’s hardware. While that is yet to reap fruit as no devices are out, Microsoft has been earning money off Android patents. They had earlier signed a deal with HTC, where they would get royalties. HTC is paying them around $5 per handset sold. According to industry analysts, it is likely that Samsung will push to seal the deal at $10 per device sold. Either way, Microsoft is set to earn a lot of money. Samsung has an especially good year smartphone wise, with its last years Ga...

Microsoft Officially Unveils Windows 8
2011-06-02 12:59:00
Microsoft previewed its new under-development operating system Windows 8. That moment came yesterday when Microsoft officially unveiled the OS at D9 conference held by AllThingsD. Windows 8 is an upgrade over Windows 7 and packs some radically different features than any of the previous Windows OSes. Windows 8 sports a new user interface (UI) which is designed and optimised for touch and is similar to Windows Phone 7 (WP7). The new touch interface is designed such that it can work seamlessly on PC, laptop or a tablet device. Also the new UI replaces the iconic Windows Start Menu with WP7-style tile menu. But, the Start Menu is visible when an application is launched. A new multi-tasking interface was also show-cased that’s more or less pane-based. It allows the ability to snap and resize an app to the side of the screen. The user interface and new apps will work with or without a keyboard and mouse on a broad range of screen sizes and pixel densities, from small slates to laptop...

Microsoft To Preview Its Windows 8 Tablet OS This Week
2011-05-30 09:00:00
This week, Microsoft will preview its Windows 8 operating system, which is designed for tablet computers. Bloomberg reported that the OS will run on tablet computers, built on Tegra Chip by Nvidia Corp. Bloomberg couldn’t site any official source because the people to inform this, declined to be identified as the plan isn’t yet finalized and thus needs to be classified. Steven Sinofsky, President of the Windows division at Microsoft, will demonstrate the much anticipated OS at the AllThingsD conference. The touch-screen interface of the OS on Nvidia’s hardware setting will be showcased at the conference. The OS will also be displayed at the Computex show in Taipei by Windows Vice President Steve Guggenheimer. Currently, Apple’s iPad dominates the tablet market. If we dig deep into the said market, we’d find how two of Microsoft’s attempts resulted in vain. One of them is the release of Tablet PC in the year 2000, which failed to live up to the expectation and the other ...

Mango also brings with it the Office365 and IE9 experiences. Until now, it was Google who was well known for giving such “innovative” codename to the various versions of its Android OS. We have seen Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich, all of which have given Microsoft a run for its money. Facebook Will Fight Child Pornography With The Help Of Microsoft
2011-05-24 08:30:00
Facebook has decided to use PhotoDNA, an image analysis software, to fight child pornography. The software will scan all the images uploaded on Facebook and block the ones showing child pornography. PhotoDNA was co-invented by Microsoft in collaboration with Dartmouth College. It then freely licensed it to NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) for use in a program to disrupt the online distribution of the worst known images of child pornography known to NCMEC. Microsoft already uses the PhotoDNA technology in its Bing and SkyDrive services. Microsoft has so far evaluated more than 2 billion images and found 2500 abusive images on both the services. Facebook has more than 500 million users worldwide. Facebook’s services host more than 30 billion pieces of shared content including photos, web links, news stories, blog posts and more. Microsoft-Facebook Partnership Brings More Social Results To Bing
2011-05-18 09:30:00
Microsoft is making some changes in its search engine, Bing. In the official blogpost, Microsoft announced “Research tells us that 90% of people seek advice from family and friends as part of the decision making process. This “Friend Effect†is apparent in most of our decisions and often outweighs other facts because people feel more confident, smarter and safer with the wisdom of their trusted circle.†The advice of the trusted circle will be relayed by Facebook. Apparently, one might wonder as to how being personalized will result in better outcome in search engine. Actually, Microsoft is expanding Bing. As mentioned above, the data that will be displayed, will come from Facebook. This is a perfect demonstration of the Microsoft-Facebook alliance. Both, Microsoft and Facebook, want to breathe down Google’s neck and this is one step that would help both companies achieve that. Search is now synonymous to Google. Rumour: Microsoft To Buy Nokia’s Handset Unit
2011-05-17 09:30:00
Hot on the heels of the news about Nokia showing ditching Ovi as a brand, here is some more news for all you Tech junkies. Eldar Murtazin, Editor of Mobile Review who had predicted the Nokia-Microsoft Windows Phone deal back in December 2010 has come up with a new post on his personal blog firing up a new rumour. According to this post Microsoft will buy Nokia’s handset manufacturing unit by the end of 2011. If this rumour turns out to be true it would put Microsoft in the league of companies like Apple and Blackberry who completely control the whole experience of their phones, hardware as well as software. Along with Xbox and Kinnect, Microsoft will add phones to its hardware division. This would mean better software updates for Windows Phones more control of Microsoft over their devices and all of this leading to a better and consistent experience for the end user. If this goes through Microsoft would end up paying as much as $30 billion easily surpassing the $8.5 billion ...
