Free Agent Forward Ike Diogu Signed by New Orleans Hornets
2009-07-30 20:56:00
Ike Diogu in Hornets uniform photoshopped by user "iDunk"at the InsideHoops.com Forum. After the recent Emeka Okafor-Tyson Chandler trade the New Orleans Hornets did with the Charlotte Bobcats, they have added furthermore to their talented squad after adding free agent power forward Ike Diogu.Terms of the contract were not disclosed.Diogu played for the Indiana Pacers for most of his career, but before the 2008-09 NBA season started, he was traded to the Portland Trailblazers. He also played for the Sacramento Kings during that season as well. He averaged about four points and two rebounds per game last year. His last two games of the season with the Kings were very impressive, though, having 32 points in one game and 28 in the other.Diogu is very undersized for his position at power forward/center as he is 6'8".Here's what ESPN's John Hollinger says of him:Diogu is undersized for a power forward at 6-foot-8, and that combined with average mobility make him a liability at the defen...

MGM - Emeril's New Orleans Fish House 2009
2009-04-27 08:32:00
We recently received an MGM offer that included $250 food credits. They said you can use at any MGM-owned company, so you can use anywhere except at Joel Robuchon and Rainforest Cafe. That's what they said. BUT when we were ready to check out, they said they can't comp Emeril's because they are NOT owned by MGM. We ate at Emeril's in 2007 and 2008 and they were owned by MGM and we were always comped. So it's hard to believe that they are not owned by MGM in 2009, and also nobody told us. This was so wasting money. 2 desserts and 2 coffee drinks total was $40. We were just so pissed off, and we're probably not booking at MGM anymore. The room was so crappy, too. View was air vents. Anyway, OK, so it was busy Saturday night, the restaurant was full and they told us it'll take about 20 minutes to be seated, but we saw there were 2 seats open at the bar, so we sat down. We waited about 5-10 minutes and finally got somebody to take our order. The guy who took our order, he talked ...

The Bugs that devestated New Orleans
2008-10-16 05:23:00
The devastation of Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast was due to winds and tidal surge; ironically, New Orleans survived the hurricane fairly well: it main problems came a day later, when the Levees broke, stranding many for days because they decided to take temporary refuge in the city instead of leaving. A lot of fingerpointing ...
Redskins offense awakens in comeback over New Orleans
2008-09-16 03:09:00
After two preseason and one regular season week of agony, the Washington Redskins offense finally woke up in a comeback home win over the New Orleans Saints, 29-24. The victory marks the first career professional victory for the already embattled new head coach Jim Zorn, demonstrating that his faulty opening night won't prove his fair measure. The Redskins risked opening the 2008 season 0-2 before Jason Campbell went five for five on one extended 4th quarter touchdown drive, then Campbell completed a 67 yarder to Santana Moss on the Skins' next drive to clinch the 29-24 triumph. Campbell went 24 for 36 on the day with no interceptions, an almost complete turn from the opening week's anemic performance and even from the much shorter passing game under Gibbs last season.Further brighter notes included Clinton Portis rushing 96 yards on 21 carries and the still knee-braced Jason Taylor getting his first official sack with Washington. The Saints high-powered offense was at least slow...

Word from New Orleans Friend
2008-09-10 16:21:00
Update from New Orleans Friend: Greetings Busy Mom Minions! Please let me thank you for your thoughts and concern for us all. Luckily, this time it was only just a scare for us New Orleanians. Our drive was the most hideous part of it all. 8 hours to get to Hattiesburg (normally a 2 hr trip) and 17.5 hrs to Nashville (normally 8.5 hr trip). NOHub and I talked about the wonderful Busy's and how we were so excited to be evacuating to their home again (yes... excited!), but how we SO did not want to throw a major monkey wrench into their normal work and school routine for a whole week since we were there for the long haul. We know they would say it would never do such a thing, but how can it not? Yes, "evacucation", as we call it (evacuation/vacation), is now a lengthy event because there is much political and government involvement who say when it is allowed to go back to our homes, but not before they decide it is safe for us. Shew, I am so glad to have them there to ...

Gustav Update
2008-09-01 22:44:00
My family in Opelousas has lost power. The eye should hit them in the next couple of hours. This is unconfirmed. I asked them ...

Hurricane Gustav: Twitter "Tweets" of New Orleans Residents Show They're Le
2008-08-31 20:54:00
I just happened to check out the Twitter "tweets" -- messages -- left by New Orleans residents, or at least those who listed as living in that city which seems to be the target of yet another Hurricane, this one called Gustof.  How I did it was by simply typing "New Orleans" in a search on Twitter. Some of the messages are from people who have already departed, like aliciammyers, who reports that she's "Driving towards Nashville. Want eggs so badly. Traffic is non-".  Then sarahmparks writes that she's "keeping an eye on Gustav".   Emmaleigh3 reports that she's "Watching pirates of the carribean and waiting for the storm".   She'd better get out of there!! Twitter's a good way to determine the mood and place of people in a region during a disaster like Gustav.  I'm going to follow the New Orleans people via Twitter in the days to come.
Hurricane Gustav: BE SAFE.
2008-08-31 20:31:00
Hurricane Gustav is headed for landfall in Louisiana and neighboring states in the next 24 hours, with currently around an equal chance of being a category 3 storm or a category 4 storm. Gustav has 150 mph winds at the moment as it begins to enter the gulf of Mexico and a million people evacuate. After failing in their response to Hurricane Katrina three years ago, FEMA is trying to be more proactive.Hopefully anyone reading this on this blog right now is completely out of harms way and somewhere safe away from the Louisiana, Mississippi Gulf Coast.  Hopefully this thing turns out to be nothing more than a slight breeze with a little rain.  But in any case, everyone from the potentially affected regions.. be safe.Chanel
