Is it blackface? Or isn't it? That's the question being debated now due to an "America's Next Top Model" flap from last night's show, as E! reports in the link. Tyra Banks has played the cross-color game before with her amateur models, but I think people are still a little heated over the Jackson Jive and the French Vogue incidents. Full figured gal Whitney took home the title of America's Next Top model last night on the season finale of the show. Even though we were routing for Fatima or Anya, Whitney left us in Awe when she worked the runway in Rome at the Versace Fashion Show. America's Next top model has yet to turn out a top model. We really thought that they would give the title to Anya, who takes really fierce High fashion photos but instead they gave it to Whitney who takes pretty pictures but not has fierce has Anya's. The highlight of the night was the fashion show, which Anya crumbled and Whitney proved that she was America's Next Top Model. In the finale of the previous shows, the models usually modeled for designers which are not usually known outside the fashion world, but this season the girls walked the fashion show of Versace. I couldn't believe my ears- Tyra Banks' Top Model franchise really does produce top models! The AusNTM cycle 3 winner, Alice Burdeu, went on to rock the AW08 runways... and I don't mean just the smaller designers either- I'm talking Lanvin! Louis Vuitton! Alexander McQueen! Proenza! Ann Demeulemeester! All that good stuff for her first runway season. Ironic considering how Jodhi Meares (the AusNTM judge) reacted terribly unprofessional manner when Alice was made the winner (she was a big fan of the runner up) and how Australia was screaming about how terrible Alice is in the model weight debate.
