Krav Maga Instructor Training - Notes from North Carolina
2009-10-24 03:10:00
I spent 5 days doing an instructor Krav Maga training at a great school in Gastonia, North Carolina (Ryan Hoover's Extreme Karate).  Most of the time was lead by one of Krav's highest level instructors - Kelly Campbell.  It was a comprehensive training for all the material that is part of the teaching lessons provided for Krav instructors.  But most memorable were the adaptations made to several of their existing techniques and their gun stuff rocks!   Krav Maga of course steps up to the plate when it comes to weapons defense more than any other system out there.  They have a thorough understanding of how attacks happen and the natural responses of the attacker.  Although it is not the...

North Carolina King's BBQ
2009-04-13 09:46:00
When my husband was browsing Amazon, he found this North Carolina BBQ, so he had to order it. Because you can't get this real North Carolina BBQ in California. He ordered from King's BBQ. It arrived fast. S&H was $10 (all the prices below were what we paid in 2008). He said the taste was real North Carolina BBQ (it should be, of course), and he loved it. Just like he used to eat when he was living in the South.I've only seen hushpuppies in round shapes, so I thought these were unusual. North Carolina: Jihadist Sympathizer Happy Jihadist Bombed Sufi Shrine In P
2009-03-07 01:52:00
Thanks to Jihad Watch:Rusty over at the Jawa Report has kindly sent me notice of North Carolina jihadist Samir Khan's reaction to this story:"Militants bomb ancient shrine in Pakistan," from AP, March 5: PESHAWAR, Pakistan - A bomb exploded Thursday at the mausoleum of a 17th century Sufi poet in northwestern Pakistan, underscoring the gulf between hard-line Muslims and those in the region who follow a traditional, mystical brand of Islam. A letter delivered three days before the attack to the management of the mausoleum of Sufi poet Rehman Baba on the outskirts of Peshawar warned against its promotion of "shrine culture," said Sahibzada Mohammad Anees, a top government official in the city. The letter also noted that women were coming to pray at the shrine, he said....(It's hard to tell whether or not this is an account of the same incident.)Anyway, here is Samir Khan's reaction: AllahuAkbar, this is great news. The Mujahideen are cleaning up the Shirk in Pakistan. ...

UPDATE: North Carolina Teacher Talking Down To Students About Mccain Being
2008-11-07 22:18:00
And update to this story: North Carolina Teacher Talks Down To Elementry Students That Support Mccain... DISGUSTING!From the schools website:I was shocked when I saw the clip of an interaction between a Cumberland County Schools teacher and her students as posted on YouTube. While neutral discussion of the political process is appropriate, at no time, particularly with elementary students, should a teacher infuse his/her political views into the discussion. Most disconcerting was the military slant that made its way into this discussion. We are a military community, serving over 15,000 military students and their families. We value the sacrifices, not only of the military parents but also those of their families. We believe that military children are our children, military spouses are many of our employees, and military service men and women are our heroes. We proudly serve our military children and have received national awards for our support of military families.I was particul...
Great Expectations Tables For October 9
2008-10-10 02:30:00
McCain seems to have reduced Obama's a bit, and Obama's big lead in some key states seems to be declining. Last week Obama was up by about 6.5% nationally, and this week he's up by about 5.5%. McCain's attack mode paying off a bit? Overall though, there has not been much change in this chart in the past few days. Seems to be solidifying wherever they are.Colorado is back in the McCain column as Obama is now up by 3 there. Pollster.com's average has Obama up by 2.7%. But McCain can definitely still take Colorado, so Obama should not abandon the state. McCain is losing 13% of Bush voters there.New Hampshire, very close for a long time, has pulled away for McCain in a major way. He's now up by 11 points there and it looks hopeless for McCain. New Hampshire is not nearly as conservative a state as people think it is, and a lot of people from Massachusetts have been moving to the southeast part of the state recently. McCain is losing a 11% of the Bush voters in New Hampshire. That...
Tumerica on Vacation in the Mountains of North Carolina
2008-10-09 23:42:00
Hello, from Tumerica. I'm perched in a treehouse-like house on stilts, four stories suspended over the road, deep in the mountains of western North Carolina. The leaves are just beginning to turn colors. The air is crispy and the mountains so green and three dimensional, as they come toward you, you feel yourself flying through them, as though aiming for the puffy clouds and gorgeous blue sky. As Wordsworth said,My heart leaps up when I beholdA rainbow in the skySo was it when my life beganSo is it now I am a manSo be it when I shall grow oldOr let me die!The child is father of the manAnd I could wish my days to beBound each to each by natural piety.May your days be bound each to each by natural piety, too. Living as I do in the central coast of California, coming to western NC, where the pace is slower and easier, I have to remind myself, breathe, just breathe and be present. I did live-blog the debate this week, and will do so with the final debate, but you will notice not much ...

Signs Point to an Obama Blowout
2008-10-07 05:50:00
Note: This post contains recent polls and analysis for New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Colorado and Missouri. This election is starting to look like a serious blowout. Some pretty incredible polls have been rolling in lately.First we had three straight polls out New Hampshire giving Obama a double digit lead, the most recent one giving him a 13 point lead in New Hampshire, the previous ones at 10 and 12 point leads. This state has been tied forever. Those poll results are just incredible.Next we have three polls, all released today, from Virginia. One gives Obama a 10 point lead and another gives him a 12 point lead and Rasmussen gives Obama an 2 point lead. That almost impossible to believe, but apparently it's true. It's inconceivable that a Black Democrat could be 8 points ahead in Virginia. There are some dramatic differences between rural and urban voters in the state - the rural areas are much more Republican. However, a huge number o...
October 3 Election Analysis
2008-10-04 01:49:00
Updated October 4:Obama is really starting to pull away now. McPalin better do something and fast. They've got nothing to lose at this point, and I expect the full bore of 527's with Revered Wright, William Ayers and anything else they can dredge up. I figure things are going to get awful dirty real fast. To be honest, it's probably McCain's only hope at this point.Pennsylvania looks like it is pulling away for Obama now. Biden is a big hit here. It's a funny state. There's Democratic Philly and Pittsburgh and Pennsyltucky, Pennsylsippi and Pennsylbama in between. A bunch of rural, racist Whites, often Democrats, who love to hunt and ain't voting for no nigger.Still, recent polls are giving Obama up to a 12 point lead. The state has a 1 million Democratic registration advantage so it's really a trap for McCain. The plot was that as long as it was close enough, McCain would be forced to spend a lot of time and money in Pennsylvania, and he'd probably end up losing.McCain's ...

McCain leading in North Carolina
2008-09-10 15:06:00
RALEIGH (WTVD) – In an election for President of the United States in North Carolina Tuesday, Republican John McCain suddenly and breathtakingly surges to a 20-point win over Democrat Barack Obama, 58% to 38%, according to this latest exclusive SurveyUSA election poll conducted for ABC11-WTVD. In 3 previous SurveyUSA NC tracking polls, McCain had led by 8, 5, and 4 points. Today: 20. McCain has gained ground in every demographic group. Among men, McCain led by 9 last month, 27 today. Among women, Obama led by 2 last month, trails by 12 today. McCain holds 9 of 10 Republican voters; Obama holds 3 of 4 Democratic voters; independents, who were split last month, break today crisply for McCain, where, in the blink of an eye, he is up by 25. He’s basically ahead across the board there, among every demo. This Obama meltdown is happening faster than I expected, frankly. Islam In Action Exposes North Carolina Mosque

This from Islam In Action:I was just reading an article online at www.StarNewsOnline.com, a publication from North Carolina. The article was speaking about a new Mosque that has opened called the The Islamic Learning Center, located at 2117 Wrightsville Ave N.C., (910) 343-1919. The spokesperson for the Mosque, a Ms. Susan Ellenberg said in the article that in the Middle East there are Mosques on every corner. I then preceded to call her and speak to her about this matter. "I asked her if that was her intention, to get a Mosque on every corner and asked if she was a convert", she answered "no" to the Mosque part and "yes" to being a convert. I responded with "so you are ok being part of a religion that calls for my extortion and extortion of all non-Muslims as stated in Surah 9 29"? Otherwise called jizya. She paused and said "yes". I thought to myself, let me make sure I got this straight and asked "so you think Muslims are superior and non-Muslims should pay you". She again said "...

Libertarian runs for serious attention By Mark BinkerStaff Writer Tuesday, Jun. 17, 2008 3:00 am Should Munger be included in the debates? (Web) RALEIGH — Libertarian candidate for governor Michael Munger's name will be on the ballot alongside Democrat Bev Perdue and Republican Pat McCrory. So, the Duke political science professor reasons he should be alongside them at upcoming debates. But at least one upcoming debate will exclude him while other hosts are having to be reminded that North Carolina officially has three parties. "If I'm invited to the debate, and I do a bad job, voters are going to say 'I'm not interested,'" Munger said. "If I do a good job, if I raise some ideas, some issues that other people aren't talking about, I can make the political system more competitive, more transparent.......
Obama Gives Powerhouse Economic Address in North Carolina
2008-06-09 19:46:00
Barack Obama just gave a powerhouse speech on economic policy in North Carolina. The highlights of what he called for include:-a windfall profit tax, to pay for some of the rest of his economic program (makes sense: billionaires will still be billionaires, even if they pay twice as much tax as currently, and huge corporations will still be huge)-a new thousand dollar tax rebate for more than 90% of American wage earners, to give some immediate help with soaring gas and food costs-universal health care, and partnering with Elizabeth Edwards to fine tune itObama also contrasted his program with John McCain's, which offers no catastrophic health insurance, makes it easier not more difficult for insurance companies to deny coverage, takes no position on what to about the current housing crisis, and now, incredibly, endorses Bush's tax policy of giving the most wealthy even more money (after McCain initially and wisely opposed it).North Carolina hasn't gone Democratic in a Presidenti...

Freedom On The Ropes; Cary, North Carolina

This is what happens when you do not get involved in your local political process. Last Year?. The residents of Cary, North Carolina sat on their hands and allowed the town council to pass an ordinance banning people from owning more than two dogs. Now, the town council has passed an ordinance that will allow them to fine people that do not get their dogs and cats spayed and nuetured. What if I have a Champion Pure Bred Stud Dog?.I gotta sell my house and move ?? Who are they to get into my face over my personal business ?? What next?you gotta get your cat de-clawed to protect birds, or pay a fine.
