Occupy Oakland: Protestors And Police Gather For Viral Video Shoot
2012-01-29 04:50:00
Frankly, this blogger’s not sure what the value of these Occupy Oakland protests are, except as yet another viral video opportunity for protestors armed with cameras, camcorders, and camcorder-equipped smartphones. No, I wasn’t in on the action. Why the hell would I want to stand near police, many of which represent the City Of Oakland (Read More...)

2012-01-16 20:19:00
The City of Oakland and Alameda County must reject AEG, the Anschutz Entertainment Group, from being even considered as stadium manager for the Oakland Coliseum, and for one reason: AEG does not have the best interest of the Oakland Coliseum in mind. Oakland Mayor Jean Quan Recall Effort Scarred By Voter Fraud Claim - Two Gr

Oakland Mayor Jean Quan undoubtedly fears the recall effort launched against her, but from what this blogger has learned, it’s currently marred by not two, but three (yes, 3) competing efforts, backbiting, and the appearance of voter fraud. How it all started was that long-time Oakland activist Gene Hazzard (who was instrumental in ‘drafting’ then-former (Read More...)

2011-12-24 19:13:00
After the Gio Gonzalez trade the Oakland A's had to designate two players for assignment, two days before Christmas Laden Powell and Jai Miller found out they are no longer on Oakland's major league roster. Powell is the least interesting of the two to me because of the signing of Rob Johnson, Powell is a 29 y/o right handed catcher who was a first round pick in 2004 by Oakland.  After a tremendous NCAA carreer in which he was named to the NCAA College World Series Legends Team, in Oakland he was in the shadow of Kurt Suzuki.  Both catchers drafted in the same year. Suzuki got the bulk of the playing time and was therefore, promoted more aggressively.  After two years of injury set backs in the minors ( 2007-2008) he became the back-up catcher in 2009 and served in that role since, appearing in about 40 games a season while hitting .207.   Powell is another one of those weak hitting defensive catchers, he caught Branden Dallas' perfect game and ...

Mayor Quan Announces Oakland Parking Holiday - Under Mayor Harris, Oakland
2011-12-17 22:53:00
Oakland Mayor Jean Quan announced that today and next Saturday are “parking holidays” for Oakland. Personally, this is too little too late. The Occupy Oakland Port Action: ILWU Union Games The Movement
2011-12-14 05:24:00
The Occupy Oakland Movement certainly has its factions, so it’s hard to say ‘the movement as a whole thinks one way,’ but the bottom line is the current majority is taking actions that are driving people who were supporters away from it, and leaving it the pawns of those with their own political agendas. There’s (Read More...)
