Everybody Loves Ottawa
2009-02-26 15:51:00
I started a trend. It happens quite often but I didn?t expect this trend to occur north of the border. As part of last month?s hockey road trip, we visited Ottawa to see the Senators-Canadiens game and also toured the Parliament building. Nearly one month later, it appears that Ottawa is the place to be. Last week, Barack Obama made his first international trip as President to visit Canada?s capital and meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Here?s a picture if you don?t believe me:Now two international superstars (me and President Obama, of course) visiting Ottawa does not make a trend. That?s where the Ottawa Senators come in. I already shared the eight-second video of Carrie Underwood attending a Sens game to watch her boyfriend Mike Fisher. Then last Friday, Ottawa acquired Mike Comrie in a trade with the New York Islanders. You may know Mike Comrie as the boyfriend of one Hilary Duff.It seems to me that Ottawa is now THE place to be seen. Now we?ll just have to see ...
Friday Links (Please Buy My Hockey Tickets)
2008-12-05 16:15:00
Despite posting an ad on StubHub and Ottawa?s Craigslist, I continue to be unable to sell my tickets for next Monday?s (December 8) Ottawa Senators-Florida Panthers game. Amazingly, trying to sell the tickets through my blog hasn?t worked either. However, I finally found a reason for people to attend the game: you can see Florida?s David Booth, who wants to go on a grizzly bear hunt. Just don?t read this story since the tickets are in the upper deck.On to the links:Five Questions with D.C. Steeler Nation and Cowboy Nation. Christmas Ape is clearly the winner.Remember the song/commencement address reminding you to wear sunscreen? Blog ?N Gold created a Bill Cowher version for his commencement address at North Carolina State.Mystery Man (of Tidbits and the Angry Consumer) writes that the leaf blower is the dumbest invention ever. Message to Ottawa
2008-12-03 15:01:00
Dear People of Ottawa:I?m going to make a broad generalization that you all love hockey. Everyone in Canada loves hockey, so this should especially be true in the nation?s capital. Therefore, I have a deal for you. How would you like attend an Ottawa Senators game on Monday, December 8? Don?t answer yet as it gets better. How would you like to see the Senators play its arch rival the, um, Florida Panthers? Before you reply, I?m sure that I don?t need to tell you this, but I know you want to see Florida?s superstars such as Noah Welch, Rostislav Olesz, and Kamil Kreps live. But wait, there?s more! You can also have the experience of sitting in the Coca-Cola family zone where no alcohol is permitted. This opportunity to see Ottawa-Florida without beer may be worth thousands of dollars. However, for one day only, you can purchase two tickets in Section 314, Row N for only $30 including shipping. Plus, you can say that you bought Ottawa tickets directly from a blogger who liv...

2008-06-01 00:41:00
Jason Spezza is definitely a player any GM would love to have on his team, but what if the Ottawa Senators are looking to trade him? What are the possibilities and what kind of team would they look to become by doing such a trade? What kind of team would be willing to pay the price?
Much Ado About Mats
2008-05-30 09:03:00
Much has been made in regards to Mats Sundin's comments about his hockey future. Will he stay? Will he go? Will he hang up the skates? No one, not even Sundin apparently, knows. Unfortunately, it looks like this situation is going to drag on for another few weeks until Sundin figures things out.

Ottawa Senators choke job would go down in history
2008-04-04 14:55:00
See, all it took was two and a half hours of slapping around the incompetent Toronto Maple Leafs to, perhaps, salvage a year.Ottawa isn't Nottawa after all. It shall remain a place that steals your money, can't support a football team and still looks to be  home to a playoff-bound hockey squad.A much-needed win in Toronto last night called off the vultures, historians and possibly even a priest for the Ottawa Senators but life can't be all that comfortable these days. Not with that collar tightening. Now, far be it for me to call these past few months a choke job, but let's just say the Heimlich maneuver may be a required part of the rigorous two a days when training camp opens this coming fall.Surely this isn't something that will be embraced in Bytown, but if the Sens inexplicitly miss the playoffs, this one may go down as the biggest choke job - ever - in pro sports. Period.Hyperbole, you think? Well, ask Jean Van de Velde, Bill Buckner or Greg Norman if these littl...

I?m Keeping an Eye on Ottawa
2008-03-30 13:00:00
(c) OnFrozenBlog - http://www.onfrozenblog.com/ - I’m going to ask a question to which I know not the answer, but the question may be rhetorical in its preposterous premise: has an NHL team ever started a season 15-2 and failed to make the playoffs? (Of course not) (I’m thinking) The Ottawa Senators, who started the 2007-08 season ...
