His vision, shown on the Paris Spring 2008 runway was beautiful, bold and well executed. Wearable? Trendy? Desirable? Not sure... I wish his collection was more versatile so you could see the woman behind his clothes. In his case woman/ model body is just a container for his artistic experiment. While there is no question that there is place for such experiments in the fashion world, I see a bigger challenge in incorporating vision like this in the modern woman wardrobe.... Louis Vuitton - Paris Fashion Week - Spring 2008
2007-10-11 21:09:00 I love seeing what Marc Jacobs does to all the different labels he designs for (Marc Jacobs, Marc and LVT). Like a true artist he manages not only to leave his signature on all, but to create continuity of his story, while keeping the brand identity. I felt like the LVT runway show still had some memories from his own Marc Jacobs collection shown in new York just a month ago, like unfinished skirts and revealed undergarments; but here he cuts and wraps it up in a more sophisticated manner, making it wearable and appropriate for Luis Vuitton customer. The collection represent one of the brightest and innovative thinking you can see in fashion today and I just can't imagine how it could be more perfect. I was curious to see where Marc Jacobs will be taking us after his controversial NY show, but he surprised all and delivered one of his boldest and more mature statements. Bravo Marc!!... Milan & Paris Fashion Week Spring 2008 Handbag Trends
2007-10-11 20:44:00 ValentinoWhew! The Spring 2008 collections are behind us (or is that ahead of us since spring is still 6 months away). I'm fairly exhausted from the avalanche of shows this season. However, more designers and more collections translates to a wider range of design options for fashionistas to choose from. After picking out the trends from New York Fashion Week, it's time to see what we can expect from our designers across the pond. I wasn't surprised to see many of the trends from NYFW continue over into the Milan and Paris shows. Burberry, Gucci and Christian DiorExotic handbags are still going strong with no sign of fading into the shadows. Crocodile, snake-skin and ostrich were seen everywhere from Gucci to Burberry to Louis Vuitton. Salvatore Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabanna and VersaceColor, color and more color was the order of the day at Milan and Paris. It included toga gowns, tunic dresses covered in feathers, flapper-style dress, ruffled satin cocktail dresses and satin trousers with a dinner jacket.It started off with dark muted colours, then exploded with colour.Collette Dinnigan Spring 2008This was a great mixture of fabulous party dresses.They ranged from short and sassy to full length and fabulous, in bright colours and a range of fabrics, metallics, delicate lace, abstract silk florals, and bold solids.The one-shoulder dress featured heavily, as did dresses that were nipped in to accentuate the waist.
