The Lengths Some People Will Go to For an Old VW
2012-02-06 15:50:00 Apparently, it's becoming tougher and tougher to find good Volkswagens to serve as the basis for a restoration. We say that because we've recently seen a couple of videos showing astounding rescues of VWs that were left for dead in hard-to-reach places. First, as pointed out by the folks over at Ea

Video: When Josh Beckett Speaks, People Will Listen
2012-02-03 04:14:00 Given everything that happened at the end of the 2011 season for the Boston Red Sox, it shouldn't be really that much of a surprise that Josh Beckett didn't say anything. We all know his disdain for the media from the countless interviews he's given. But the reason Beckett didn't talk after the season isn't what everyone thinks, it turns out he was busy with his wife and new daughter. Beckett's silence ended on Thursday afternoon when he appeared on MLB Network's Intentional Talk with his good buddy Kevin Millar and Chris Rose. In the interview, he talks about new skipper Bobby Valentine's visit among many other topics. Follow Ian on Twitter @soxanddawgs. And be sure to like us on Facebook as well.

The Year of the Mike Check~~~2011~~~~~Revolting People @ Occupy Wall Street
2012-01-02 15:45:00 Back in the day Al Stewart had a song called: THE YEAR OF THE CAT. Well, I'm singing that tune today, but I'm Changing the words to THE YEAR OF THE MIKE CHECK. If you do not know what significance the words "MIKE CHECK" have in this day and age of American history, You are either a brain dead zombie, are paying no attention to anyone or anything going on around you, or so old that saying the words "MIKE CHECK" only mean something you would never do because you're so busy sitting on your couch, watching Two Broke Girls and eating potato chips that a live streaming reality show like the Global Revolution Happening Now, Including the United States, seems very UN-real to you. BTW, A lot of this is all about money, and the 99%.....and as one woman in the Madison Wisconsin uprisings so eloquently put it, "The Genocide of the Middle Class" It's time for a Reality Check and a Mike Check now in America. So There.
Decaf for Lazy People.... (me)
2012-01-02 13:04:00 Yesterday I wrote a quick list to take to the store;COFFEEENVELOPESADDRESS BOOKOnly... I couldn't make myself go to the store. This of course means I did not buy coffee. So the only k-cups in the house are decaf that we keep on hand for visitors who don't like caffeine and the random and odd late night coffee when we don't want caffeine ourselves (which is rare). But it is my own fault. I was lazy and didn't go into town yesterday to get coffee so my punishment is that I have to drink decaf. Considering I've been up since 3:00 a.m. it could be a long morning. And decaf just doesn't taste very good to those of us who like our java caffeinated.

Google’s People Finder Comes To The Aid Of Philippines Typhoon Victims
2011-12-20 10:31:00 Late last week a tropical thunderstorm, ‘Sendong’, created havoc in Philippines. Tough the winds were not exceptionally strong the torrential rain caused flash floods and mudslides, which have accounted for over 900 deaths and the death toll is expected to rise further. Rescue operations are is full flow and the rescue workers, victims, their families and well-wishers are being aided in their search for survivors by Google’s People Finder app. Google People Finder, which is a project under Google.org and part of the Google Crisis Response division, was first built by Google engineers in response to the January 2010Haiti earthquake. Google learnt during the 2005 Hurricane Katrina that searching through missing persons registers on multiple websites defeats the purpose. So, Google decided to bring data from various registries and in one common format under one platform. Google Crisis Response team is responsible for launching the People Finder app in response to a particular di...

China And Its People. Just ONE Book.
2011-12-15 16:48:00 My firm is in the throes of defending a strike suit brought against Sea Shepherd by Japanese whaling interests. The Japanese whalers are seeking an injunction to stop Sea Shepherd. Under U.S. law, to get equity, one must do equity and one of the things we have learned about the Japanese whaler plaintiffs that we consider to be less than equitable, is that they have used nearly $30 million in tsunami relief money (I kid you not) to fund their whaling operations. A young lawyer in my office was shocked that this would go on. Her shock stemmed not even so much from the fact that the funds would be used so deceptively, but more so from the fact that it seems never to have occured to the whalers that using tsunami relief funds to kill whales would be viewed with such horror by just about everyone outside Japan. I told her of how a friend of mine who is completely fluent in Japanese and lived there a long time is always telling me of how the average Japanese businessperson knows not...

150Mn People Are E- Commerce Ready Says IAMAI Study
2011-12-13 07:15:00 We know that e-commerce segment is doing extremely well in India. According to a recent study conducted by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and Intelink Advisors, about 150 million people are ready to get onto the e-commerce way of shopping. This figure was achieved after studying parameters like Income, Education and Occupation of households and people. The number is promising but the only barrier to this is actual number of these people currently shopping online, which is pegged at 10 million. The reason behind this strange disparity in e-commerce ready people and active e-commerce users is that Indians are not big fans of buying things from the Internet due to reasons like lack of trust, unwillingness to share payment information and lack of an actual shopping experience which many Indians have got used to. Some people don’t even see it as a benefit and maintain that they have no use for online shopping. The ‘trust’ factor is one of the main roadblocks to ...
