Still, here we are on Friday with nothing to post, again, so I'm taking a suggestion from reader Santemon for a poll topic: describe the custom fragrance of your dreams, and name the perfumer you'd choose to have develop it for you. The Different Company Sublime Balkiss ~ new perfume

It is named for Balkiss, aka the Queen of Sheba, and is described as a modern chypre fragrance without oakmoss (real or synthetic) or animal-derived raw materials. Sublime Balkiss was developed by perfumer Celine Ellena, and features two kinds of patchouli: the traditional essence, and a modified modern patchouli which emphasizes the cocoa powder notes. The sales associate said, "Ah, yes, it's so beautiful!" She sprayed it on my arm, and a few seconds later I lifted it to my nose. "What do you think?" she said eagerly. "Isn't it beautiful?" The fragrance was barely dry, and I wasn't ready to say anything about it, really. But the ambery mix I smelled wasn't what I'd expected at all, given the ad campaign touting French gardens full of roses and jasmine. "I thought it would be more floral," I said. "Oh, floral. "My aim in the beginning was to have a gallery of excitement for perfumers," de Swardt says. "The names were mostly to leverage emotion from the perfumers, to get them into a true zone of sexuality and sensuality. The usual perfume names are so ubiquitous, such as Beauty or Love, that it is difficult to do something different. I didn't want to go into that commercial story, but yes, in the end the names do become that (controversial)." ?
