The Legacy Science Program set out to determine whether planetary systems like ours are common or rare in the Milky Way. What they found is that many, perhaps even most, of the sun-like stars in our galaxy could well harbor Earth-like planets. The Spitzer team found that at least 1 in 5 neighboring solar-mass stars have the right conditions to have formed terrestrial worlds. I was able to shoot on the Santa Maria down on the waterfront, which was a rare occurrence since the ship is always locked up. While I was taking pictures of it, two guys pulled up in a pickup and told me they were doing maintenance on it for 15min and I can take some pics on the ship if I wanted and I couldn't pass that up.
