Google Introduces Fast Flip And Shares Revenue With Publishers For The Firs
2009-09-15 05:37:00
Scott Karp of Publishing 2.0 summed it up the best, Google understands web publishing and the web better than publishers. So while the men in the business of news (and the women for that matter) are all busy thinking better models of business to survive in digital medium, Google has come out with an all new way to access and read news.  With Fast Flip, Google makes news a more print like commodity and delivers and innovation that perhaps publishers should have been the first to try. And to make it happen Google has also gone out of its usual ways and done a revenue share with publishers. The idea behind Flip Fast as one can gauge from the name is to make browsing faster. The enormous amount of news and content that is available on the web makes sure that loading a news site is pain to the eyes and a load on even the fastest browsers in high broadband. Google considers that a print like solution where we can flip through to the content that we need like in a magazine is what the we...

Google To Launch Micropayment Service – Way To Lure Publishers Or A B
2009-09-11 09:18:00
The ongoing feud between the Newspaper publishers and Google is widely reported in media but what is largely unnoticed is the new initiatives introduced by Google to counter such issues. Google is on the verge of rolling out a micropayment service to facilitate smaller transactions on web. The micropayment solution would be an extension to its Google checkout service and is widely expected to be used by the online media properties. The service would facilitate micro or small transactions across the partnered sites. WATBlog earlier reported the tussle between traditional media publishers and Google. We also carried a report about the ongoing plans of WSJ Online to introduce micropayments on their site. This payment solution is thus an impending move by Google to calm the traditional media owners’ nerves regarding Online profitability and viability of business model. Google in the meanwhile has announced that the micropayment service is in a very early stage and wo...

Facebook connect gaining wide acceptance, doing wonders for publishers
2009-07-03 11:42:00
Facebook connect seems to be doing really well in terms of growth and adaptation. Facebook connect’s success marks the ambitious expansion plans of Facebook to capture new waters in terms of future Ad network and as a potential payment gateway. Effectiveness of Facebook connect as disclosed to SAI : Publishers using Facebook Connect as an alternative for account registration have seen a 30-200% increase in registration on their sites. Facebook connect powered sites see a 15-100% increase in reviews and other user generated content . Every story published on facebook sees 3 clicks(visitors) on an average, half of the stories published in the facebook Stream get clicks. The user engagement seems to be touching new heights (as seen by above figures) with Facebook connect which may attract many more publishers in future to implement the solution on their portals. In many cases, the user stickiness is even higher than Google friend connect - which was largely perceived as a m...

Why Are Publishers Responsible For A Click? The Real Flaw In Online Adverti
2009-06-02 09:31:00
Most people might agree that pay per click advertising has revolutionized the online advertising space and the credit for the same goes to google as well for the launch of adsense and adwords. Both adsense and adwords have revolutionized the online advertising space and brought advertising to the last mile. But even though largely its perceived as a good thing it may have actually shrunk the potential of online advertising space and actually lowered revenues for multiple publishers. Here is why I think that pay per click is a flawed model The very fact that advertisers pay publishers for a click and not impressions means that they place zero value on the creative of the banner ad or even text ad to generate clicks. The entire responsibility of the click is placed on the publisher. Now consider this if TV channels were paid per view of the ad how much do you think they would earn? Because a tv ad creative could be boring and people could switch channels during the ad and the creative...

Publishers Are to Blame for Driving the Potential of Online Advertising Dow
2009-05-23 18:53:00
Running a digital agency one of the toughest ask is to get clients to put a premium on their online advertising campaigns. Take any IAMAI campaign we might have covered, almost all the while publishers and agencies would be found raving about the untapped prospects of online advertising. And this obviously to let the guys with the cash strings know of its potential. However, regardless of how well clients begin to understand this, digital advertising won’t go anywhere without publishers pulling up their socks in terms of quality. I believe a lot of publishers sometimes by using dubious methods, and most often by practicing advertising methods purely driven by greed are killing the whole niche. If we sit to debate or have a comprehensive talk the scope of this post might fall short, so I will try to keep it brief yet relevant. I don’t want this to sound like a pissed off post at the number of advertising I am pounded with on most of India’s popular websites. However...

Tomas Leszczynski of Santoren Wealth Management made a great call with arc resistance: Projected target for a pullback and the chance to create a reversal head-and-shoulder pattern at November reaction lows. Clickbooth - An International Publishers Network
2008-06-07 07:41:00
Last evening, while registering for Clickbooth Publisher Network, I was prompted to give my phone number where they could give me activation code. I did that and even before I could move to the next screen, I got a (overseas) call telling my code. I was impressed by the efficiency and their emphasis on authenticity. With all the help available, signing up is easy.I have been struggling with different methods of monetizing for some time now. Clickbooth Publisher Network - an advertising/affiliate network that pays on a Cost Per Action (CPA) - seems a nice platform. On a CPA model, advertisers pay publishers per set of action which a publisher?s user must complete. This can range from just visiting the ads, signing up for newsletters, leaving email address, and even purchasing a product. In the industry, Clickbooth pays the highest share to publishers. Other income is through the multi tire referral program. You can earn 2% of the gross earnings of your referrals plus $10 for every af...

Google says, "We've Fixed AdSense Reports", Publishers Disagree!
2008-05-09 17:06:00
We had informed our users yesterday, that there were numerous reports of delays in Google AdWords and Google AdSense reports which was leading to incorrect data. However, now Google says, that it has fixed the issue. In a post on Google Groups, Stephanie explains, "Hi everyone, This reporting issue has now been fixed, so you should now see all of your missing data from yesterday in your account. (We've also reflected this update on our Known Issues page at https://www.google.com/adsense/-support/bin/answer.py?answer=92-365.) I'll leave this thread pinned to the top of this category for another day, to make sure more forum members see this update. Thank you all again for your continued patience, and our team sincerely apologizes for the delay." However, this post didn't even get close to pacify the publishers. After Stephanie's post, most of the publishers reported that nothing has changed in their reports, which would simply suggest that the problem is ...

Privacy Policy For Google Adsense Publishers
2008-04-20 23:02:00
Recently, Google Adsense updated their Terms of Service. That's why when you logged in to your account, their Terms of Service policy will be displayed requiring you to re-read and click "I agree". Their new TOS popped up after I logged in my account later last month but honestly, I did not read it. I thought it was a technical issue so I just clicked on "I agree" and continued checking my Adsense earnings. But after reading from several blogs saying it's a must to create a Privacy Policy for each Google Adsense publishers and post it on their blogs or websites, I felt obliqued. I thought I should post a Privacy Policy in all of my blogs using Adsense ads. I've created - I mean copied and edited- my own and posted next.If you are an Adsense publisher, you should know that it's a must to have a Privacy Policy on all your AdSense sites. This is not optional. When you agreed to the new terms, you agreed to do this too. Better do it rather than be sorry in the future. We all know tha...
Alexa Rankings System changes and Vietnamese Publishers Rethink Web Metrics
2008-04-19 11:00:00
Web metrics provider Alexa just announced the New Alexa Rankings with new algorithms that pushed most of Vietnamese websites' ranking down overnight. In fact it is a good news for marketers in Vietnam since Vietnamese online publishers used to set Alexa ranking as a norm of traffic measurement and monetization. Last year a news portal in Vietnam even posted a headline saying VnExpress in Global Top 100 Websites and near the line of CNN.com and BBC Newsline. Ironically it said Alexa was the only independent and objective ranking system of web metrics worldwide. Actually many international marketers and advertisers had left Alexa for other web metrics/analytics service such as comScore, Hitwise, Compete and Nielsen//NetRatings. Among the fierce competition, comScore had became the leader with reports can send Google' shares down significantly.Since online advertising is emerging as an important piece of media and branding communication strategy of marketers in Vietnam, the need for...

Click Bomb Attack - A Real Threat To Web Publishers
2008-03-05 15:41:00
Google disabled my Adsense account the other day… They noticed “invalid clicks” to the ad blocks posted in my websites… But I’m sure I followed their TOS (Terms of Use). After some few researches, I discovered that I’ve been attacked by a “Click Bomber” or someone that sabotages websites (especially site income) by clicking on the ads constantly until the publisher’s banned from the ad network. Few days before the click attack, my webwizzer blog received 2 spam comments with links to a malaware/spyware/adaware website.Google hasn’t been very active in fighting these criminals or even try to upgrade their system against malicious attacks. Their semi-automated anti-click fraud system is a failure. There are innocent web publishers that are getting banned without even investigating. They only have this “appeal form” which I doubt would ever help me or any other publisher. These click bombers are everywhere. Whatever their purpose, it’s a real blow that cripples...
