Reflections on a SUPERNATURAL Silver-Screen Showdown
2009-09-03 16:38:00 By: CT As we anxiously await armageddon — aka the season premiere of SUPERNATURAL, airing at 9 p.m. E.T. on Thursday, September 10th — we thought this might be the perfect time to look back on the horror flicks Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki (aka those winsome Winchester boys) released earlier this year and decide whose manager deserves a raise… and whose should be demon bait! Let’s say right up front that we thought it was an odd choice for both of the guys to make films in the horror genre during their respective breaks. Yes, sticking to what you know — not to mention what made you famous — is a no-brainer, but let’s not forget that it’s also the path that led Sarah Michelle Gellar to such crapfests as The Return and flicks. Trust us, guys: Next time, stretch your wings a little. Trust that your fans will follow. In any case, both guys made not only horror flicks, but remakes of classic ones — Friday the 13th for Jared, My Bloody Valentine for Jensen — at...

Murders in the Prashanthi temple ? reflections 2
2009-06-01 16:12:00 The Indian press repeatedly described events, as best they were able to investigate them through eye-witnesses who were too frightened to stand forth with their names. Literally hundreds of articles were written in all as the press tried to do its duty to society. Sathya Sai Baba rubbished the entire press coverage and the journalists ...
Reflections from a Yard Sale
2009-05-31 09:28:00 Perhaps, it comes from being a writer or perhaps it comes from my own nature, but I do perhaps reflect on experiences a bit overmuch. Reflections on CA Supreme Court Hearing on Prop 8
2009-03-06 00:45:00 I had planned a post today on the hearing the California Supreme Court this morning on the constitutionality of Prop 8, but realized that I would basically be repeating a point I had made over and over again, with a slight twist to reflect the circumstances. But, some things, I believe, bear repetition. This return ...

2009-02-23 15:17:00 NOL: Stuck in a side-way range. IT means i shouldn't be using ADX or MacD in my analysis. Stochastics suggest a rebound is on the way. As i am short on NOL, i am waiting for the purple moving average to confirm the bearishness. Based on the last two candle stick formation, it seems like NOL is ready to pop higher. Should I long? No! Up yes, but how much is the up-side? Aren't i safer to remain short as we now how market can plunge more than it climbs?HSI: The red spot on the chart is the likelyhood where the rebound may end. It is the downtrend resistance coupled with the neckline of the double top formation. The rally today caught my surprise because it came after Dow closed weak. HSI has not broken the last low about 12,400 points which disappoints me. HSI may rebound within the range still. RSI looks to be supported and this is bad news to shortist. Coz' if HSI is to rebound, plenty of room for RSI to move higher. However, this intra-week rebound may just be shortl...

Reflections Of THE China Bridge Blogger.
2008-12-01 10:05:00 EastSouthWestNorth. Is any English language China blog more influential? I don't think so. Roland Song of ESWN was to give a speech at CNBloggercon, but was unable to attend due to a family emergency, so he has put online what he was going to say, entitled, "Reflections of a Bridge Blogger." (h/t to Lost Loawai) It beautifully sets out the evolving history of the "treatment" of China "social incidents" and the role the internet has played in this. It makes for great reading. CnReviews does an amazing job, here, of summarizing CNBloggercon.

A Few Saturday Reflections
2008-11-24 14:00:00 'Bama was off this weekend, so I actually got to enjoy a football weekend without the emotional turmoil of your own team playing. It was refreshing, and I had a few thoughts that I'll throw out there for ya.1. The Oklahoma v. Texas Tech game proved that media sex appeals usually matters very little when evaluating good football. While prolific, pure run and gun offenses like at Texas Tech lack the fundamental discipline necessary to execute consistently against equal opposition. Bob Stoops and the Sooners exposed Texas Tech to be exactly what they really are-- the girl at the party who everybody loves until she loses her makeup-- the quintessential brown bagger.2. Here's to you, Tigahfan. Only you, after two BCS championships in the last five years can abandon your team at the first glimpse of adversity. After losing to Alabama, Tiger stadium has seemingly lost its night time mystique. It was empty in the third quarter against Troy, and once again vacant against Ole Miss. This is...
Photo Hunt #33: Reflections
2008-11-23 07:34:00 Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world, a truly magnificent Khmer architectural masterpiece, the highlight of every tourist's visit, and the most photographed in all of Cambodia. From afar, looking at this famous tourist attraction in Cambodia will fill you with awe and anticipation. The sheer beauty of the massive site can be overwhelmingly beautiful, especially when veiled in mist in the early morning hours. Mysterious passage ways, beautiful carvings adorning temple walls, tall towers and sweeping courtyards fill the temple landscape and create a sight unlike any other you may have seen. Scrutinized, admired and interpreted by thousands of archaeologists, architects and other designers, the blueprint of Angkor Wat Cambodia remains one of the most unique in the world. Even more beauty is added gracefully to this tourist attraction in Cambodia by a large expanse of gleaming water found in front of the main entrance.- Destination360Seasoned photographers recommend...

Playoff Reflections: Philly Goes to the World Series...
2008-10-16 17:52:00 It looks like FOX will not be getting its dream World Series match-up of the Dodgers and Red Sox, since the Phillies took the National League pennant last night. Now, the Rays just have to won tonight.Cole Hamels dominated as Philadelphia found itself playing for a championship as they downed the Dodgers last night, 5-1. They used offense -- and a whole lot of Dodger miscues -- including three errors from Rafael Furbcal (in one inning) to earn an easy victory.Chad Billingsley was awful, and Greg Maddux sadly may be ever so-close to retirement after his painful outing. So, the first time since '93, they find themselves playing for only their second World Series victory (they only have one in their existence - 1980). For the Dodgers, it was a fun a little run they put together and they made the NLCS exciting; however, one man -- Manny -- does not make a team, and perhaps if everyone else had done their jobs, they would still be playing. Finally, I just really, really, liked this photo...

Fight Night -- Well, Maybe The Appearance Of It; Playoff Reflections
2008-10-13 22:33:00 It was fight night at Dodger Stadium in Sunny California as Manny Ramirez and the Los Dodgers kicked some major Philly arse, 7-2. The Dodgers are still down 2-1, but could make it even tonight if they can get past Joe Blanton.Plus, I need them to win so I can use may tickets for Game Six in Philadelphia. After the Dodgers disposed of Jamie Moyer early by torching him for five runs in the first, things got interesting -- very interesting. It nearly became fight night -- well, in a theatrical sense -- at least. Since I am at work, and pressed for time -- I'll let Jayson Stark tell the story, since he was there, and could tell it better than ever I could.A 94-mph Hiroki Kuroda cannonball whizzing behind the noggin of Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino in the third inning of Game 3.Before that pitch, this was just baseball. After that pitch, we didn't just have a series anymore. We had ?A SERIES.A benches-emptying, fingers-wagging, neck-veins-bulging, coaches-jawing, Manny Manny-iz...

Playoff Reflections: What An Ugly God-Damn Game last Night; All is Written
2008-10-13 02:38:00 Well, the Rays won last night in a long, ugly, but exhilarating game in the Tropicana Dome. The game didn't end until long after 1am, as B.J. Upton plated Fernando Perez -- who was even gutsy for even attempting to score -- on a sacrifice fly to end the contest.Dustin Pedoria -- all five-foot-right (I say five-foot-six) -- hit two homers and showed why he's an MVP candidate plus giving all short guys hope that they can make it in Major League Baseball, along with homers from Kevin Youkilis and Jason Bay.Meanwhile, for the Rays, Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton both homered for Tampa.Josh Beckett nor Scott Kazmir looked good, as each got touched up -- and touched up badly. it looks like both men are tired, needless to say. Both need to be on their game to really help out their teams, for sure.Tampa had a 8-6 lead, until allowing the Red Sox to come back late. Rookie call-up David Price got the win, while long-term veteran Mike Timlin took the loss. It's needless to say that the Rays ne...

Dodgers Lose to Phillies, 3-2; Red Sox and Rays; Playoff Reflections...
2008-10-10 16:55:00 Last night, the Dodgers and Phillies played game one of the NLCS and everything came down to a fateful sixth inning. Los Angeles went up 2-0 in the top of the first inning, thanks to Manny Ramirez -- again -- with an RBI double; thereafter, Blake DeWitt plated Matt Kemp with an RBI.Derek Lowe had things in control in the sixth inning; however, Shane Victorino reached base on a error off Rafael Furcal, and the Chase Utley homered to tie the game. Two batters, Pat Burrell hit his third homer of the postseason -- a two-run shot -- to make the difference. Cole Hamels was shaky in the first, but kept things in order with yet another post-season start for the victory. Lowe was good, but his two mistakes -- homers to Utley and Burrel -- cost them the win.Like I said, if the Dodgers fall 2-0 in the series, it will be hard for them to come back. It was a very well played game yesterday night in the City of Brotherly Love, and I expect the same tonight in Beantown as the Red Sox and Rays begi...

NLCS Thoughts and Playoff Reflections; Markakis & A New Contract...
2008-10-09 15:33:00 The 2008 playoffs resume tonight as game one of the NLCS is played in the City of Brotherly Love.Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers take on the Phillies; thus, for me, although I am a fan of the Orioles, the NL style of baseball appeals to me a lot more. That being said, I am very interested to see how this series turns out. Both teams match up well with their lineups, as well as their pitching staffs although I think Philadelphia might have a slight edge with their bullpen (because of Brad Lidge). I think the starters for the first three games are suitable, there?s a significant drop-off from there with their starting rotations for both teams. That?s why I see things so even matched up.Right now, I am picking the Dodgers in seven games for the upset. Why?I think the Dodgers have been greatly underestimated, and obviously Manny in that lineup makes the difference; however, I think Joe Torre has also been a calming influence on this team as well by virtue of his experience dealing in New Yor...

Playoff Reflections, Friday
2008-10-04 18:17:00 Well, yesterday brought us more baseball -- this time, exclusively AL -- as the Division Series continued on Friday. I got home from work, and aside from talking to people off and on throughout the night -- it was all baseball, even doing cardio on my stationery bike. The first game featured the upstarts Rays against the White Sox, and watching on TBS, it was shocking to see how many White Sox fans were there; nevertheless Tampa came back from a shaky first inning by Scott Kazmir -- where he gave up two runs -- and Chicago's inability to do anymore damage against him.In a 6-2 final, Tampa used small ball and a huge Akinori Iwamura home run in the fifth inning to breball, tampa bay rays eak it open.Tampa's bullpen kept the White Sox off the board, and in the end, they are now up 2-0 in the division series.Being a fan of the Orioles, I have watched the Rays more than enough to see what they are capable of -- they are a complete team from top to bottom and can score in various ways --...

MLB Playoff Reflections, So Far...
2008-10-03 16:38:00 Sorry I have not had much time to write, but I was down in Tampa yesterday watching the Rays-White Sox and spent some of the evening coming home.Anyhow, the biggest surprise to me has been how bad the Cubs have really played. Right now, it looks like they are done unless they can somehow win three more games, which is something that has never been done. The entire Chicago infield looked horrible by making four errors, and the Dodgers thanks to the Dodgers taking advantage of the situation, and the continuing onslaught of Manny Ramirez led them to 10-3 victory. Zambrano looked shaky, despite over-powering at times; alas, his defense killed him -- literally. It looks like it may be yet another year where the Cubs don't see the series, and if I were the Dodgers' Frank McCourt, I might want to start drafting some papers to sign Ramirez. I would look away, hold my nose, hope he signs on the dotted and that Manny keeps up his new found maturity out West.***It looks like the Brewers nice l...

Misty-Eyed Reflections From Snarlin' Arlen
2008-07-31 19:52:00 In today?s Philadelphia Inquirer, our state?s Republican senator tells us here that he?s all ready to run in defense of his seat for the 2010 political campaign? He looks pale and frail. His gray-plaid suit seems to hang on his shoulders. And, yes, he is quite bald. Two weeks after completing a debilitating, three-month regimen of chemotherapy for Hodgkin's disease, the 78-year-old Republican pronounces himself in "good physical shape" and says he has an "excellent" chance of full recovery. There's probably a better chance of a snow squall on this steamy July morning in Washington than that Specter - a former prosecutor and a renowned political infighter - will admit any weakness. "I'm at the top of my game," he says.Seriously, I should say at the outset that I?m glad Specter is enjoying good health. Of course, it would have been nice if he had bothered to support legislation that would have blocked a 10.6 percent cut in Medicare payments to doctors as a thank-you to those who help ...

New England Transgender Pride March: Photos and Reflections
2008-06-08 17:13:00 The first-ever New England Transgender Pride March took place this weekend in Northampton, and I was there with my "Episcopal Church Welcomes You" rainbow tank top and a digital camera to capture the pageantry. I was hoping to blend into the MassEquality contingent, but they were scattered around other groups this time, so I just milled around looking like I knew what I was doing, and took lots of pictures. Next thing I knew, someone had handed me a bunch of purple and white balloons, and I was marching behind the lead banner, shouting "Trans Pride Now". Without either of my moms this time, I felt anxious that I didn't have the right to be there. Straight allies are important, but on the other hand, was I co-opting someone else's oppressed subculture? (I had a Native American Studies professor in college who was apoplectic about this.) The fact is, when you're genuinely weird, and view all human social categories as potential idols to be decons...

Reflections on 31 years in Real Estate
2008-06-06 02:16:00 I started selling real estate in 1977. Before fax machines, cell phones or office copiers. Our mls office had the tumbling litho with the great smelling purple ink. We took turns going to the mls office to pick up hot sheets and drop off new listing information sheets. The really good agents had polaroid pictures attached to their new listings. I am finishing my EPro course this week. This reminds of taking my real estate exam in Iowa before continuing education was mandated. We had the Yellow Iowa Primer, which you could read it (or not) and take the test. If you passed, you became a real estate agent. I didn't read it, I didn't pass. A week later I read it, took the test and passed. I am very gratefull for my career in real estate. I have learned to adjust and adapt to change. You cannot be in this business and expect things to remain constant. I have been through bad times, good times, slow times, wild crazy multiple offer times, high interes...

PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Reflections and Musings #1
2008-05-29 08:07:00 Source: www.PinoyBlogoSphere.com - I had an entry lined up to address Bishop Tobias’ letter to the IC, but I think I’ll just maybe share my thoughts with you all tonight. There’s a short back story to this so bear with me please. I had been working on a “gift” that I’ve been meaning to give the CFC Home Office/Center for quite sometime now, but it was only recently that I figured out how to put it together properly and cohesively. If you read the response by the MMC in this entry, you’ll see that the home office has had some issues in communicating with its database of leaders and members because the person in charge joined the FFL. I encountered this verse during my search for a solution for that: He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. - I...
