Banton's work has been characterized as "murder music" for his lyrics that call for the brutal murders of gay men. We need to tell Live Nation that we won't stand for this type of hatred. The line-up announcements are always long-awaited and this year’s is bound to please the masses who journey to Jamaica each year for the shows. Foxy Brown collaborates with reggae heavy hitters on Brooklyn’s Don Diva
2008-05-16 01:42:00 Foxy’s back on the block and is dropping her latest release after an 8 month stint in prison. “Brooklyn’s Don Diva” is choked full of guest performers, especially reggae artists, including hard hitters like Demarco, Movado, Morgan Heritage, Spragga Benz (her former boyfriend) and Lady Saw. Unfortunately, there are currently no videos for this album, which I’m pretty sure is a direct result of her incarceration, but Rolling Stone did give the album 4.5 stars. I have yet to listen to the album, but you can weigh in with your own rating after listening to the album here.

We thankfully have people like Beronica to keep us informed on the Austin Hip-Hop Scene, live and direct and from the streets...4/20 was pretty dope for those of us that attended this years festivities @ The Reggae Fest. Whether you attended Saturday or Sunday, I'm sure you enjoyed yourself despite the price increase at the door. There was a good turnout of patrons even without our four legged friends that were not invited to attend this year. It was definitely crowded, so not for the paranoid or claustrophobic type. The main stage kept the crowd entertained during breaks with a DJ, but for me, the main attraction was a guy on the mic at the west end of the festival. Reggae takes the voyage on Danger Zone's Journey's Riddim: Crossing a good
2008-04-01 00:33:00 Danger Zone's Journey's Riddim has now been officially released and like the pre-released version, which was premiered in the last quarter of 2007, the riddim has attracted support from a wide cross section of the music fraternity and been hailed as one of the best riddims presently on the airwaves. Danger Zone has added some tantalizing instrumentals to the pre-released version and the final product can only be described as immaculate. The Journey's Riddim was produced by Della Danger, Ce'Cile and Jigsy King of Danger Zone Records. Can reggae artists survive bootlegging?
2008-03-16 00:52:00 The recent downfall of Audiomaxxx (not familiar with this scandalous site, then click here) brings to the forefront a common issue for all recording artists alike, but especially reggae artists. How can artists “eat a food” when their music is being copied and bootlegged at home and around the world with no credit or profits being given to the artists, producers, or DJ’s? It’s a musical free for all and the artists are on the multi-million dollar losing end. Unless a reggae artist tours or performs ALOT, has achieved mainstream success like artists Elephant Man, Sean Paul, or Beenie Man, or has other profitable business ventures then they most likely are not living too comfortably and bootlegging is a major reason for it.
