App Review: iBusVan for iPhone
2009-10-27 09:30:00 Commuters in Vancouver know all to well the shortcomings of the transit system. The app iBusVan aims to do that for you! iBusVan by Music Motion Features 1.5/2 iBusVan is a Vancouver-based transit app that reflects Translink system schedules. Korea?s New Supercar Spirra Videos and Reviews!
2009-10-23 02:56:00 Looks like Korea has started their very first production of supercars, Spirra from OullimMotors. (???) Not only the Spirra goes head to head and beats Lamborghinis and Porche 911 Turbos, these could possibly be making their way over to the States in the next couple years. Well, I will be definitely getting one, hopefully I ...

Gnome is Rapidly Becoming My Least Favorite Desktop
2009-10-11 21:59:00 Part of my motivation when I made the big switch from Slackware to Ubuntu was a desire to step out of my comfort zone and give something different a try. And while I've warmed up to Ubuntu - heck, I even like it at times! - I'm still cold on Gnome. For reasons like this: Such a simple thing! I want to hit F11 and have Emacs open. Gnome's set-up already has slots for starting web browser and terminal, so I'm able to have half of the default key scheme I've had for going on a decade now. F12 starts gnome-terminal and F10 starts Firefox, leaving the F11 key dead like a missing tooth. As you might guess at this point in the whine, try it yourself. No emacs! Changing the command to just plain 'emacs' doesn't work. Restarting Gnome doesn't work. Disabling every single other keyboard shortcut doesn't work. For the record, 'F9' doesn't launch ABIWord, either (you can see I tried that in the screenshot, too), but one problem at a time. Googling gets you a recommendation of...
News: shred reviews goes live
2009-10-07 22:28:00 Launching my new website where I aim to fairly and comprehensively review as many of the instructional products for the guitar as I can manage. I'm not the greatest player in the world but I've seen many DVD's, CD's, and Videos over the years, as well as having read my fair share of books. Some are worth buying, some are worth borrowing from a friend and frankly.....some are worth avoiding.... This is a content summary only. Visit Truth In Shredding to find out more!
Reviews: 'The Middle' with Patricia Heaton; Kelsey Grammer's
2009-10-07 15:34:00 ABC debuted two new sitcoms last week that are headlined by former "Back to You" co-stars Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton. That sitcom didn't have the staying power of either star's previous hit show, Grammer's "Frasier" or Heaton's "Everybody Loves Raymond." One of them returns to form in the new series. Keep reading to find out....
More Vinegar than Wine? Bad Reviews continue to 'haunt' The Vintner's Luck!
2009-10-06 11:49:00 I find Jeremie Renier to be a competent, talented and dedicated actor - I have the same sentiment when it comes to French mega-star Gaspard Ulliel. But in Niki Caro's The Vintner's Luck, I can't help but feel that both actors' 'sentiments', hard work and dedication to their characters were irrelevant and therefore immaterial because the filmmaker failed to transfer the essense of Elizabeth Knox's story into the big screen. - - -- - - Says INDIEWire: Can you say, “Haaawwwwwwtt??†French actors Jeremie Renier and Gaspard Ulliel found themselves in a production of New Zealand director Niki Caro’s (“Wale Riderâ€) latest, “The Vintner’s Luck,†which is screening in the Special Presentations section of TIFF.- - -Ulliel plays an Angel who sort of "guides" Renier's character, a struggling wine grower in early 19th century rural France. Their relationship is complicated, and at one point their quasi-sexual (the one has wings being an Angel and all...) fly-aro...

They agree that one just can?t take anything ...
TV Preview: Discovery Channel ? The Colony ? Finale
2009-09-22 23:39:00 The folks at Discovery and I often do not see eye to eye. I loved this series, and for three weeks put up previews, then, in a move that made no sense whatsoever they removed access to the preview screeners. Pissed to the max, I had to watch the show at the same time as ...
Jason Aldean ? ?The Truth?
2009-09-22 23:10:00 Songwriters: Brett James and Ashley Monroe. Jason Aldean definitely knows what his fans want and expect?country songs about country life and country living…as long as they don?t sound too, you know, country. Sure, you can throw in a fiddle or a steel guitar, as long as those instruments don?t take away from the drums and electric ...
Foursquare & Crowd-Sourced Evangelists Tweak Loyalty Marketing
2009-09-22 20:02:00 Many brands are trying to harness the power of social media for monetization purposes. Traditional marketing, by itself can no longer achieve the levels of success it reached in the past. However when combining both old and new school, one could benefit from the synergies that are created, and Foursquare is positioning itself to do just that.
Rosanne Cash with Bruce Springsteen ? ?Sea of Heartbreak?
2009-09-22 16:12:00 When Rosanne Cash turned eighteen, her father gave her a list of what he considered the 100 essential country songs. By way of an eleventh studio album, she recorded a dozen of them with a loose, jazzy backing band and an array of guests including Jeff Tweedy, Elvis Costello, and Bruce Springsteen. Without that backstory, The ...

Movie Review: Alvin And The Chipmunks ? Go To The Movie ? Star Wreck
2009-09-21 04:04:00 I love spoofs. Most of the ones that are made today are just over the top and simply aren?t funny in the least. Older ones realized that hilarity resides inside of subtlety and it?s all about the clever allusions and off-the-wall bizarreness. There aren?t that many movies that get that any more, but some do ...
Book Review: ?Treasure of Eden? by S. L. Linnea
2009-09-21 00:13:00 In late March, 1954, two cousins found a cave in the Judean desert, west of the Dead Sea. Bedouins, the teen boys, believed the cave to be full of treasure. The boys knew of a promise made by the sheikh that whoever brought back home treasures of antiquity would get to go with the sheikh ...
Movie Review: The Very First Alvin Show
2009-09-20 22:55:00 I enjoy watching very classic television show. Don?t misunderstand me ? I?m not a fan of old television. Most of those shows really sucked, with only a couple of notable exceptions. But it?s enjoyable to watch as a sociological experiment, to see just how much television, humor and entertainment have changed in the intervening years. ...
Could The Fiefdom Of Foursquare Become The New Twittersphere?
2009-09-20 22:21:00 Many people have been talking about the next Google (including myself) for the last ten years. Yet they still remain king of the hill. Similarly isn't it daunting to think that in a little over 3 years the microblogging darling of the investment world recently valued at one billion dollars could possibly be supplanted by a location-based game, the likes of Foursquare? Yet, there are those that have jumped on that band wagon.
Randy Houser ? ?My Kind Of Country?
2009-09-18 20:20:00 Songwriters: Dallas Davidson and Randy Houser. Randy Houser debuted as a balladeer of uncommon skill with the soulful ?Anything Goes,? but it was the Adkinsesque rocker ?Boots On? (in the vein of, but not quite as interesting as, ?Honky Tonk Badonkadonk?) that very nearly took him to the top of the charts, blocked only by Jason ...

The Hundred Dollar Diet
2009-09-18 05:29:00 Vancouver: I stopped by the Farmers Market on the lawn of Pacific Central Station, a magnet for people making an effort to follow the Hundred Mile Diet. I bought an organic Macintosh apple to snack on as I walked home. It was $1.09, an expensive apple it seemed to me. I bit into it, expecting ...
DVD Review: Ramsay?s Kitchen Nightmares: Complete Series Two
2009-09-17 20:49:00 I have always been a huge fan of the somewhat over the top British chef Gordon Ramsey. I think he can be summed up as the man with a clean kitchen and a very dirty mouth! This guy knows more swear words than a salty dog! But, he is as entertaining as they come. Series two ...
The Young and The Restless : Soap Update for Sept. 17, 2009
2009-09-17 19:23:00 We can see it is daylight now and we see the canoe drifting upside down. Back where Patty is she checks her watch and sees it is 6:20 ...
Book Review: Site 39, Blue Orb by Otis V. Goodwin III
2009-09-17 16:04:00 I think I would put Site 39, Blue Orb squarely in the genre of classic Science Fiction. I am guessing that the intended audience is the Young Adult reader, and I do believe Otis Goodwin will do well with that sector. The heroes and heroines are youthful, and their mission is to not only save the ...
Book Review: The Year Of The Flood by Margaret Atwood
2009-09-17 16:02:00 Science fiction — excuse me, speculative fiction — loves series. For whatever reason, readers — and evidently authors — can’t get enough of particular worlds or characters. And just as Margaret Atwood distances her fiction from science fiction, she may be taking the concept of a series in a different direction. Atwood’s latest novel, The Year ...

More Video Reviews
2009-09-17 10:00:00 Now that the summer is over we've all gone back to work. We haven't watched much television or many movies for a couple months now--these are saved up from over the summer--so I don't know that there will be any more of these lists coming out soon but this ought to keep you busy for a bit.1. DoubtI have this theory that the best movies are often plays first--at least among many of my favorites this is true and I think it's because with a play you're confined by the set, costume changes and restrictions of the theater. You instead focus on tight dialogue, character development and subplot over special effects and dazzling the eye (unless of course you're Andrew Lloyd Weber). It's obvious that Doubt fits perfectly in with my theory and it's everything you'd expect from powerhouses such as Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The premise is that a jaded nun suspects the priest of improper relations with one of the students at the school he oversees and it takes place in the...

Movie Review: Barney ? Jungle Friends ? The Movie
2009-09-17 00:17:00 I would love to spend some time out in the jungle. I have some friends who got to go through the Amazon rainforest and I am eternally jealous of them for that. My brother even got to go fishing for piranhas and you really can?t get a whole lot cooler than that. Well, for those ...
Review do celular smartphone Nokia E75

The Young and The Restless : Soap Update for Sept. 16, 2009
2009-09-16 19:24:00 When Traci talks to Steve and she tells Jack she is hoping Colleen will be home by the time Steve arrives. Chloe comes in asking for help with Delia because she is teething. Anna Garrott ? ?What A Way To Go?
2009-09-16 19:03:00 Songwriters: Charlie Black, Bobby Fischer, Phil Vassar Anna Garrott?s first album came out last year on J&V records, and this is her debut single for Blue Steel Records. Unless you?re heavily into the independent country music scene or are a personal friend/family relation of hers, you?re probably never heard her name until just now. If her ...
Movie Review: Shaun The Sheep ? Little Sheep Of Horrors
2009-09-16 04:58:00 I think the creators of Wallace & Gromit are some of the most inventive and cunning people in entertainment. At least, they are some of the funniest and most clever people in British entertainment right now, a position that has been glaringly underwhelmed ever since Monty Python went off the scene. Now the latest collection ...
Movie Review: HIT Entertainment ? Trick Or Treat Tales
2009-09-16 02:56:00 I am not a big fan of Halloween. I never have any good costumes and the parties I go to are lame every single year. It?s a made-up holiday all about spending money on refined sugar products you don?t need and then eating far too many of the aforementioned refined sugar products. But, as a ...
Movie Review: Whistlefritz ? Spanish For Beginners ? Inside And Out
2009-09-16 01:10:00 I don?t speak a lick of Spanish. I can ask where the bathroom is but not understand the response and be able to order at a Mexican restaurant without greatly mispronouncing any of my items. Now, I would like to learn another foreign language (despite the passable amount of German I know), but it takes ...
Movie Review: Thomas & Friends ? Hero Of The Rails ? The Movie
2009-09-15 23:24:00 Making new friends is one of the coolest things out there. There?s the excitement of meeting them and then getting to know them and then you see some of your interests starting to line up. Then you hang out a couple of other times and things really start to gel and then you become trusted ...
Movie Review: Disney Princess ? Enchanted Tales ? Follow Your Dreams
2009-09-15 22:37:00 I?m not a girl. Correspondingly, I don?t understand the fascination that girls have with their princess fantasies. They want to dress in pink and wear a sash and a tiara and who knows what else. Even some of my female friends in college were all caught up in those impossible dreams. I don?t understand it, ...

"Heil Hitler Kanye West" Lambasted Via YouTube, Twitter & Obama!
2009-09-15 18:20:00 When even Hitler disses Kanye West, its fairly obvious that his rabid outburst at MTV's Video Music Awards was as low rank as one could get. Getting chastised by the entire World Wide Web is not an easy task, but apparently a challenge Mr. West thought he was up for!

The Young and The Restless : Soap Update for Sept. 14, 2009
2009-09-14 21:18:00 Daniel stands in front of Deacon waving the key asking which one does he wants, Amber or the key, because he can?t have both. Movie Review: Ghost Cat, starring Ellen Page
2009-09-14 04:13:00 Released in 2003 as a made-for-TV special, this film was originally titled Mrs. Ashboro’s Cat. After airing sporadically on different channels over the years, the film is now being repackaged and given a new life as Ghost Cat - thanks in no small part to Ellen Page’s recent stardom. And though it’s very likely that ...
NEW Mafia Wars -The Lehman Family vs The Bear Stearns Family!
2009-09-14 00:53:00 While the widely popular Mafia Wars is chewing up the digital landscape by trying to recruit everyone on Twitter one tweet at a time, there are two other nefarious families making the social networking scene. These families, just as ruthless and similar in style to the mafioso have the makings for a great new Mafia Wars game.
Music Review: World?s Greatest Dad Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
2009-09-14 00:45:00 In 1991, comedian Bobcat Goldthwait made his directorial debut with the underrated (and underseen) Shakes the Clown, a vulgar and hilarious comedy that happened to include a cameo from Robin Williams. Almost two decades later (and after much more work as a director - though mostly in television) Goldthwait is back with World’s Greatest Dad, ...
The Fuhrer Virus ? Paul Schultz: Book Review
2009-09-13 21:28:00 This espionage-suspense caper is set during World War II, but during that odd and brooding breath-of-a moment-time period during 1941 when Russia, and England were in a desperate, full-out balls-to-the wall war effort against Nazi Germany, and America was officially a neutral nation but teetering on a knife-edge, with powerful and influential people and organizations ... |
