Facebook's IPO Morality Tale: If The Green Shoes Fit, Wear Them?
2012-05-23 19:05:00
Facebook's reversal of fortunes in such a short span of time has played out almost like a modern-day morality tale.  The fall-out of the social network post-IPO, after such an enthusiastic build-up was telling. While it lined the pockets of some (namely investment bankers), it deprived the 99 Percenters (or Dumb F*cks as Zuckerberg so adroitly labeled them back in 2004) full-disclosure, resulting in a subsequent short-fall on their FB investment.

'Dark Shadows': The Reviews Are In!
2012-05-11 16:30:00
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's latest is 'ghoulishly endearing' but 'mostly unfunny,' critics say.By Kevin P. Sullivan Johnny Depp in "Dark Shadows" Photo: Warner Bros. Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton's latest collaboration, "Dark Shadows," once again has the actor donning some white powder makeup, but this time around, their work isn't charming the critics as much as previous films. The critics agree that Depp is in his usual top form and Burton's visuals still demand attention, but some issues with the script keep "Dark Shadows" from being all it can be. Check out what the critics are saying about "Dark Shadows": The Story "As a child, Barnabas and his wealthy family sailed from England in 1750 and founded the fishing village of Collinsport in coastal Maine. They spent 15 years building the grand Collinwood Manor, where a maid named Angelique (Eva Green) loved Barnabas passionately, but he never returned her affections. Because she felt scorned — and hap...

Do You Have Enough Klout To Fly The Friendly Skies Or Land The Perfect Job?
2012-05-10 18:28:00
Klout is to 'personal influence' what Google is to 'page ranking.' While the Big G's algorithms determine the relevance of the Internet's every web page, Klout supposedly ranks the influence of every person online. As a 3-year old start-up, it's raison d'ętre is to measure influence based on the digerati's ability to drive action.

Doodle Roll
2012-05-09 07:51:00
This is a great idea.  My kids are always stealing my printer paper to draw on. Once they got thier hands on doodle roll – they were all over the floor – rolling and drawing and ripping and tearing! It made a fun mess.  I am not sure why paper on a continuous roll is so much better than sheets of paper out of a pack – but apparently it is too fun! This is an affordable toy and will keep them entertained for hours.  Grab a few! I am putting this in my summer fun guide – Inside and outside fun – and they seem easy to transport to take with you too.  The website also has some great ideas and inspiration.   About The Doodle Roll® is the most versatile & portable arts & crafts activity kit! This all-in-one kit contains a roll of paper and crayons in a compact package, perfect for creative fun on the go anytime, anywhere! How Many "Dumb F*cks" Will Rock Facebook's IPO Like It's 1999?
2012-05-08 21:26:00
The term "Dumb F*cks" has hung over Mark Zuckerberg like a dark cloud over the course of the last 8 years. Not because his nickname "Zuck" rhymes with the expletive, but because the CEO of today's largest social network derided his early FB users as such. In 2004, when first percolating the idea of FB in a Harvard dorm room and asked how he attracted so many followers so quickly, he off-handedly responded they were following him blindly, like "Dumb F*cks."
7th Berlin Biennale highlights political art - Curator Artus Zmijewski crea
2012-05-07 08:15:00
Zmijewski wants to transform the art of impotence and individualist survival, which is how he describes contemporary art markets and the institutionalized art world of galleries and curatorial careers, into art that is "genuinely transformative and formative", art that "practices politics", and art that is "real action in the real world and [that bids] a final farewell to the illusion of artistic immunity".

Social Media Exposes Its Dark Side With "Is Anyone Up"
2012-04-15 16:54:00
The number of followers who have joined "Is Anyone Up" might not be in the hundreds of millions like some of the more popular social networks, but it sure is capitalizing on the profiles that have been registered on Facebook and Twitter, nonetheless. Entrepreneur Hunter Moore has taken Chatroulette to a whole 'nother level to what some are defining as "revenge" or "identity" porn.

Welch?s Naturals ? a new jelly!
2012-04-04 07:01:00
WhenI heard that Welch’s was launching a new natural line of jelly, I was very stoked.  We eat a lot – and I mean a lot – of PB& J in our house.  And I always try and buy the lower sugar or organic variety.  So with the natural brand I thought it fit right into our lifestyle. I have one kid who likes grape and one who like strawberry – so we really put this to the test with success.  My kids are young – so we don’t stray too far from the PB&J or jelly on crackers…..but we do get a little crazy and do cream cheese and jelly on bagels every now and then!  I was also very surprised to find out there is a National PB&J day.  We gobble up a lot of this and the new line is very tasty.  So my call out to my readers is make every day a PB&J day and tell me your favorite combo! About the new Natural Line: Available in Grape, Strawberry and Raspberry…. No high fructose corn syrup No preservatives Delicious, bold fruit taste Try o...
Hush Puppy Slippers
2012-04-03 07:49:00
I love flip flops – and slippers are super comfy too. So what a wonderful idea our friends at Hush Puppies have come up with……slippers that are flip flops!  Ta Da!  I love these because if I am running late in the AM with the kiddos – no one is going to look at me like “ugh – you have your slippers on!”  I will just blend in and look like I have some super cute flip flops.  The are very squishy and comfy – just like a slipper.  But your foot covers that part so they just look like flip flops.  They are stylish and they have a nice rubber sole – so no worries if you step in a small puddle or something.  Durable, fashionable, versatile and comfy – ta da! I am also putting these in my Mom’s Day guide – perfect. About Hush Puppies slippers by Grandoe are the natural outgrowth of the collaboration of two companies that have a long history of providing comfortable and casual products to consumers.  Their latest shared...

Hip Fusion Designs Review & Giveaway
2012-04-01 07:51:00
I really liked this jewelry artist the first time I saw her website.  Who doesn’t want to be hip?  Her site is easy to navigate and you can find so many things there.  There are earrings and necklaces in several categories. You can shop ready made or if you want a personalized piece – she can customize a mother’s necklace, or other item just for you.  You can also shop by theme. I chose the All My Children disk tag necklace. I already have a mother’s necklace. But I love that this one is not silver and something about the style really spoke to me. When it arrived, I was not disappointed.  Sometimes pictures online and the really thing don’t look exactly like what you are expecting. But this one was spot on.  I love that it is versatile and dainty with a splash of oomph with the crystals.   There are also very simple necklaces and funky items on the site too. And I want them all!  I am putting Hip Fusion in my Mother’s Day Gift guide.  She eve...
We Bought a Zoo ? out on DVD 4/3
2012-03-31 21:47:00
This is a pretty cute little story that is very family friendly.  I love that it is based on a true story. I think that fact alone now has my daughter thinking that we can do something cool like this – hmmm. The storyline is a typical facing adversity, dream-ing big, and pulling together of a community. However, I love the twist of the animals – and so did our kids. So grab a copy and pop some popcorn and have a family movie night – this is the perfect flick for that!  There are also some themes and deeper conversations that this film can spark if you have older kids – a bout courage, life, scripture and morals. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire) and starring Matt Damon (Contagion, True Grit), Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) and Thomas Haden Church (Easy A, Sideways), WE BOUGHT A ZOO is ?a sweet-natured tale?that you?ll want to see with your kids? (Liz Braun, Jam! Movies). Benjamin Mee (Damon)...

Dawgs Review & Giveaway (US & Canada)
2012-03-27 07:19:00
As you might be able to tell from the title of my blog – I love to shop.  And what would life be without shoe shopping.  They always fit, they make you feel good and there are endless possibilities!  So I was more than happy to be able to review Dawgs shoes.  I had a hard time choosing as they have quite a variety of comfortable looking shoes.  I settled on something called a crossover.  Technically, I think it is a golf shoe – but can be worn as an everyday sneaker.  They come in a few sporty colors and they just looked like they would be comfy.  The shoes actually run true to your shoe size – and are available in whole (not half) sizes.  I actually thought they might wear more like a running shoe – which I wear a larger size.  So when you are shopping for your shoe – my advice would be to stick to your shoe size and use their more than accurate shoe size picker.  It will tell you what size based on a simple tape measurement. In honor of Mother’s...
