Man says CTA security guard framed him
2009-10-23 23:51:00
An Evanston man says a security guard employed by the CTA framed him for drug possession. According to the complaint, in October 2004 William Edwards was on the green line and looking for a seat on the crowded train when "he accidentally hit a security dog with one of the train's doors."  Immediately after the dog was hit, the complaint states that security guard Jerry Sutton was visibly upset and threatened Edwards.  The complaint further states that Sutton then searched Edwards' clothes and pockets and moments later showed him a bag of cocaine and marijuana, which Edwards denied belonged to him. Edwards was then arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.  A document Edwards says showed inconsistencies in Sutton's testimony was not admitted...

Keep Your Blog Secure
2009-10-10 08:38:00
One of my friends (and a fellow blogger) has a problem with blogger.com. He simply can?t open it at all the three computers at his workstation. By the way, all three computers are sharing same internet connection that is from local cable network. I can open his blog. I did and looked for third party codes at his blog and found nothing. He had not given permission to anyone to post as has been explained in Blogger Buzz post titled Keeping Your Blog Secure. But the problem is not this. Real problem started when I open the blog and saw all her images had been replaced with explicit nudes. Those images were quickly removed but my friend still can?t access his blog, worst still, he can?t access to any blogspot blogs. What can be the problem here? Suggestions are solicited.

Government To Block Internet Telephony Citing Security Concerns
2009-09-17 05:43:00
Cheap international calls over VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)  may soon be a thing of the past for Indians as the Intelligence Bureau has asked, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), to block all Internet telephony until security systems to trace the same are in place. Readers might recall that during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, this mode of communication was used. The intelligence department is of the opinion that India does not have the structure in place to track international as well as local calls. Since in the absence of CLI (Caller line identification) parameters of calls landing from abroad, It is not possible to identify the country of origin. Some facts about Net telephony in India. Indian consumers have used over 130 million minutes of Internet telephony in the January-March quarter 2009. Companies which offer net telephony in India are Telco’s such as MTNL in Delhi and Mumbai and many leading ISPs. In addition, any consumer with internet access can ...

Digital Criminals Preying On Social Networks

Donors and Would-be Donors Beware (Sathya Sai Central Trust Example)
2009-08-30 01:34:00
As the years pass, more evidence emerges of the very non-divine manner in which Sathya Sai Baba and his financial wing collect vast funds - particularly from wealthy donors. As with scams the world over, there are methods of 'spotting' - in this case, by ashram staff of visitors most likely to donate large sums. The admixture of 'miracles' - such as Sai Baba's 'materializing' of expensive rings or pendants etc., for the wealthy - is central to setting up of these traps. This operation involves the participation of the registration office, as well as Sathya Sai Baba's close servitors, many of them wealthy or those who have given away their wealth to him. Criminals and police forces often refer to this type of spotting as finding the 'mark' or victim to be set up. Donors and Would-be Donors Beware There are two classes of individual, and in some cases institutions, who have every reason to be looking at these issues. First, those who have already been donors to Sathya Sa...
