Power’s Paula Sonkin says the weak housing market has been a healthy contributor to the satisfaction boost. O.C.’s home buyer satisfication index jumped three points this year to 125. That ranks O.C. fourth among the 34 markets nationwide that Power tracks. Standard Pacific won Power’s award for O.C.’s best in the recent survey. Sonkin notes several reasons driving higher satisfaction. The weak market is forcing many builders to cater to shopper’s needs. When the market was hot, salespeople were simply order takers. Price concessions always make buyers happy, Sonkin adds, but its not a huge driver of satisfaction.
