regarding The Egyptian Delegation To the Kingdom
2012-05-06 02:05:00
At the same time we were watching on TV the clashes between the military police and the protesters at MOD sit in , many Egyptians were shocked from what they were seeing on Al Arabiya TV channel on air from the Saudi Royal palace in Riyadh from humiliation to their Egyptian dignity.   A public diplomacy headed by the Speaker of the People Saad El Katatanini and MPs from different parties including Freedom and Justice Party and Al Nour Party as well the leaders of Al Wafd Party ?Sayed Badawy? and Ghad El Thawar Party ?Ayman Nour?. There were representatives from religious institutions in Egypt like Al Azhar and the Orthodox church of Alexandria along with Salafist Sheikh like Sheikh Mohamed Hassan. There were also actors in the delegation that was received warmly by Saudi. The delegation went to apologize for the insults the Kingdom and the King endured during El Gizawy?s case and for the insulting graffiti written on the walls of the embassy from couple of weeks ago as w...
To catch a Thug on Facebook : Mr. Baskoeta !!
2012-04-30 16:41:00
Do you remember that video from last Sunday?s early morning clashes between protesters and thugs as well locals in Abassiya area near the #MOD sit in where attackers face were crystal clear and we had the opportunity to hear and see the moment the video shooter getting hit by another young man carrying a handmade gun !!!? Here is the video to refresh you mind. Later ?Kolena Khaled Said Group? FB page showed a screen capture for that young man in order to be arrested by the authorities. The Screen Capture Now amazingly before we hear anything from the authorities our youth were able to find all the details concerning his address and his name plus his Facebook Profile. A Screen cap from the Facebook profile  Mr. Karim Baskoeta aka Karim Biscuit seems to be a young man from Abassiya if I may say judging from photos he posted on the Facebook. He is from the working class that worked as a cashier in a clothes shop , who visited the Holy land and marked his visit , who t...
It?s Liquid ?
2012-04-28 13:17:00
There is noting permanent, but change. – Heraclitus (535-475 BC) According to the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, we now live in a ?Liquid Society? where reality keeps changing at a very fast pace and individuals need to adapt smartly to survive. By splicing together an unending series of short-term projects, the episodes do not add up to the kind of sequence to which concepts like ?career? and ?progress? could be meaningfully applied. Such fragmented lives require individuals to be flexible and adaptable ? to be constantly ready and willing to change tactics at short notice, to abandon commitments and loyalties without regret and to pursue opportunities according to their current availability. Social form and institutions no longer have enough time to solidify and cannot serve as frames of reference for human actions and long-term life plans, so individuals have to find other ways to organize their lives. Therefore, the individual must act, plan actions and calculate the likely g...
Happy Sinai Liberation Day 2012
2012-04-25 23:06:00
Today we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Israeli occupation from Sinai , just days after the decision of EGAS to cut off the gas supply to EMG and thus to Israel. Some say that this was the unique celebration for the day. It is unique anniversary despite it was some how quiet today and I am not speaking about quiet streets of Cairo but rather in Sinai still the Youth of North Sinai movement had a stand across in front of the North Sinai Governorate where tens of locals carried banners against the marginalization of Sinai and the neglect of the government to the peninsula. Youth of North Sinai movement Youth of North Sinai movement Mourning Sinai : 31 years A government thatdo not care "Sinai Youth Movement" Who wants to liberate it , should re-build it"Sinai Youth Movement"  Another group of Youth tried to march to The Dayan Memorial Stone in Sheikh Zowaid in order to paint with the Egyptian flag colors but the army and security forces block...

2012-04-25 01:31:00
Dear Mona El Tahawy has caused an uproar online yesterday with her long essay in Foreign policy?s special Sex issue with the title ?Why they hate us !?? In 24 hours there have been strong reactions mainly from Arabs and Muslims who refused this orientalist view to women and men in the Arab and Muslim world. From Dima El Khatib : Love , not hatred , Dear Mona ! From Karim Malek : Case in Point : Mona El Tahawy?s FP article From Mona Karim : ?Why Do they hate us !?? A blogger?s response From Samia Errazzouk : ?Dear Mona El Tahawy , you do not represent us? From Phil Brennan : On Muslim-Arab issues and the Danger of Aiding the Neo-Liberal Colonialist Agenda Now to my short comments as I think the people above have covered all what the points I want to say and have said in details , they even did it better than me. I am fed up as Egyptian Arab Muslim African woman of that stereotype Westerners and orientalists put me in that I am being oppressed and needed to be saved as soon as pos...
Scruffy Look Defines American Society
2012-04-24 09:32:00
Scruffy Look Defines American Society A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet Either you have a beard ? or you need a shave.  A three or four day growth of stubble on a healthy man?s face and chin denotes pure laziness, slovenliness, shiftlessness, and it just screams to the world:  ? I just don?t give a damn!? In the spirit of full disclosure ? I have a beard and mustache patterned after a beard popular in the 1860?s South (The Confederate South to be exact.)  It is an open secret that I have great admiration for men of that era.  They were men of integrity, boldness, bravery, and pride.  They took great pains to look their best while taking into consideration the degree of intensity their masculine countenance might exude.  Being handsome (or NOT) was, of course, either a blessing or a curse. However, being acceptable in polite society of the day demanded a man look his best -- and that meant that one was either clean-shaven or had a nearly trimmed bear...

In my last post, I reflected on caregiver motivations based on research reported in Dementia: A Public Health Priority, the report recently released by the World Health Organization and Alzheimer’s Disease International. They Kill Cats in Gezira Club 2
2012-04-03 22:52:00
After publishing the first post ?They kill cats in the Gezira Club ?GSC? and what it caused from noise , I believe I should not close this file. First of all more photos showing dead cats in the club began to surface online along with testimonies in the past few weeks following my post. Here is a photo taken by club?s member Ahmed Khalifa. Poor cat killed in GSC Of course now it seems that there is a development in the way of killing these poor cats , instead of poisoning them they were hit by sticks. Here are more photos taken from GSC by Pam Labib on Facebook from about a week ago. This is a psychopath action to be honest. Now I know that earlier this week a group of GSC members are planning to have a protest against the club?s administration and its decision to kill all stray cats in the club. This is not an Upper Class issue or protest , the one who will protest for a cat will protest for a human. I do not underestimate these small movements anymore. If you see...
#Ultras : It is their Strike , their rules
2012-03-30 14:18:00
Ultras rules by Mona Seif Many girls form the Egyptian protesters class and many feminists are angry from Al Ahly Ultras groups , oh yes they are so angry. Ahly Ultras is having this sit in at the Parliament for nearly 5 days and that sit in unlike any other sits in this area has witnessed , it has very unique rules. The rules are as follow : girls are not allowed in the sit in after 10 PM , No girl is allowed to smoke inside the sit in , No girl is allow to stay over in the sit , No girl is allowed . There are also another rules. They hanged a big banner with these rules saying that despite respect to the individual freedom yet they respect the Egyptian society values and traditions. The Ultras justified its rules that they learned from the other sits in?s mistakes. They do care about the image in the society whether you consider hypocrisy or not because they had enough of being defamed in the media for years and appearing as football crazy druggie hooligans. Misogynist , indeed ...
Abu El Fatouh En Jesuit : 2 hours of questions
2012-03-29 02:05:00
Presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Abu El Fatouh was invited for a lecture at the College De Sainte Famille ?CSF? aka The Jesuit Downtown Cairo tonight by the Catholic patriarchs and priests association and ?The Justice and Peace organization? which also follows the Catholic church.  It was an open invitation for everybody and I attended it. The lecture was moderated by journalist Youssef Ramez who did an amazing job.Abu El Fatouh came along some of the member of his campaign including his political advisor and AUC political sciences professor Rabab El Madi. El Mahdi is a famous Marxist and even Father William hinted out to this fact as it was a sign on how Abu El Fatouh was open to others despite his Islamist background. Most of the attendants were Christians including a considerable number of nuns ?including a dear old foreign nun I once met in a Spanish course from several years ago? who went to listen and to ask the famous Islamist candidate who was Many of the attendant...

2012-03-24 01:31:00
Today the Egyptian football association ?EFA? has imposed today sanctions of the Port Said massacre on Al Masry Club of Port Said. The football team will be banned from playing for two seasons while the Port Said stadium will be closed for three years. Now thousands of El Masry fans or rather fanatics in Port Said are furious , having protests since the announcement of the Sanctions. They are not having protests but disturbing flyers with an ultimatum to kick out any Non-Port Saidi outside the town !!   The flyer "El Masry Club is red line The protests from couple of hours ago headed to the building of the Suez canal authority in town where the protesters tried to break in to that building !! Now there are protests , the army is protecting the Suez canal authority building in Port Said and is trying to disperse the protests by force using tear gases and birdshots. The buildings of the Suez canal authority in Port Said , Suez and Ismailia are from the most important vital bu...

2012-01-06 00:04:00
Meanwhile outside Cairo and the political jazz taking place there as well outside the circus of the parliamentary elections from one side and the Mubarak?s trial from another side. First of the crisis of the butane gas cylinders continues  through Egypt in extreme cold weather. The prices of the butane gas cylinder hike up to the sky and average Egyptians are cursing everybody especially those in power more than those in the street. Here is a video showing a protest in Girga of Sohag , Upper Egypt of angry citizens protesting the lack of butane gas cylinders at the city council. Sohag : Protesters want gas cylinders Now what is extremely interesting in this video that the people of Girga are protesting at the city council accusing its officials of creating this crisis , this shows you that people are not afraid to stand for their rights anymore. Sohag : people of Girga do not want the head of their city council Second Alexandria is having its own sea in the cit...

WORLDWIDE UNREST
2011-10-04 08:55:00
A recent New York Times article highlights a very fascinating and intriguing movement that's sweeping the globe--unrest. Yes, we've seen it everywhere this year, from the Twitter-induced revolution in Libya, to the riots in London, to the more recent Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City. According to the article, more young people than ever before are outraged with politics and government corruption, and letting it be known! A big factor, the article also explains, has a lot to do with the leaderless Web culture that is so prominent among many of these young rebels. The resources available via the Internet have created almost perfect storm conditions for worldwide upheaval.

Society Declares Everything Is Now Free
2011-08-13 14:46:00
A new era has finally dawned, we are now living the ?Star Trek? future were there is no need for money, people just enjoy their hobbies and food appears out of nowhere. These are the findings of a weeklong study from groups of field researchers taking in England?s most significant cities. And Manchester. ?Money is now a thing of the past,? said behavioural scientist Professor J. Scott Billingsworth. ?Everything is available on-demand and money serves now only to be received, not spent. For example I received £25 for these trainers that I demanded from a terrified man in Ealing.? The researchers found that 2011 had seen the realisation of a future previously only imagined by science-fiction writers such as Gene Roddenberry or H.G. Wells. Now at last are huge tracts of society that find no need for money and spend time pursuing knowledge ? such as Stellar Cartography , expressing themselves creatively ? such as writing plays exploring the human condition, or getting bonged out of it...

Rapture Failure And Risk To Society Warns That Society Still At Risk But To
2011-05-24 18:51:00
Serially rubbish soothsayer Pastor Harold Camping today predicted yet another date for the coming of the Rapture. It will now definitely arrive in October, giving believers plenty of time to send in their cheques and postal orders.?God, in his infinite compassion, would want to spare humanity 5 months of panic and suffering,? said ministry spokesman Pastor Harold Billingsworth. ?So instead our ministry will fill His role, and spread fear across the world. But we can?t do it without your help, so remember to keep sending donations.?Many believers have been left bewildered and poverty stricken after spending their life savings following Pastor Harold Camping?s third prediction for the imminent end of the world being announced as 21st May, 2011. The Pastor was quick to re-assure his followers that his ministry would still be there for them.?If you assumed salvation on Saturday and thus have spent all your savings, don?t worry, I am sure God will help you get your old job back. Or a sec...
