The new captain performed very well and scores a victory to his name in his first match as captain. Yes, here I am talking about the Sri Lanka?s new captain Kumar Sangakkara. He hit an unbeaten century against Pakistan in final test match and draws the match and hence won the first series as captain of Sri-Lanka. He made 130 not out scores. Sri-Lanka won the test series against Pakistan on July 24, 2009. They won the series by 2-0 where the last match was drawn between two. This series was played in Colombo in Sinhalese sports club. The team has secured its home series victory by winning the first two matches over Pakistan in the series.

As the orange flames of the rockets gave a way to clear skies, the very first view was that of earth through the bottom of the space shuttle. An image of a pendant hung at the end of a dangling chain, kept on foamy blue and white velvet satin sheet emerged. Wow...how beautiful sight that was. As the shuttle raced to a higher altitude, location of the pendant became obvious. It was Sri Lanka and the chain was an Indian shoreline along the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. This image of Sri Lanka is still well carved in my memory.I had seen this movie in early 90's and in 08, I got a chance to be in Sri Lanka. 2008-11-18 18:55:00 In 2002, I was invited to a 5-day conference of environmental journalists in Sri Lanka. That being my first trip there, I decided to take extra days to explore the country. Luckily for me, I have a Sri Lankan friend who took three days off from work to give me a guided tour of the country. I was really excited about our road-trip because I only read about/watched Sri Lanka in books/television. First in our itinerary was Minneriya National Park, 182 kms from the capital of Colombo and about four hours travel by car. This man-made lake (reservoir) is the main feature of the park, covering an area of 3,000 hectares. It was built in the 3rd century by King Mahasena who was known to have discriminated Theravada Buddhists in Sri Lanka. Many temples were destroyed including Mahavihara, the main Theravada temple. During dry season, different kinds of mammals, mostly elephants, and birds roam around the park. Not far from Minneriya is Polonnaruwa, dubbed as the ancient Kingdom of Reservoirs ...
