Wrong Team Wins Stanley Cup
2008-06-05 14:03:00 There has to be some kind of mistake here. Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL, rigged the entire hockey season just so the Pittsburgh Penguins---his favorite team---would win the Stanley Cup. Unfortunately, they lost in game 6 and some other team got to take home the trophy. How on Earth are we supposed to have a conspiracy if the wrong team wins? I'm not going to talk much more about this. Detroit winning the Cup is the finishing touch on a season I'm glad is over. The quicker we can all put 2007-08 behind us, the better. My advice to you: stay clear of Red Wings blogs and/or fans for a while. They're going to be pretty intolerable for some time. Pens in 9.

Stanley Cup final: Detroit, one hand on the trophy.

2008-05-29 17:57:00 Yeah, I'm at work. I don't want to be here, but I am. Let's hope this day goes by quickly, eh? Anyone else feel like the Red Wings totally threw the game last night? That was one intense game and I'm highly disappointed with the ending score, but hey.. it's only one game. I think they purposely lost so that the Stanley Cup will be won here in Detroit. Then all the local restaurants can profit from our victory as well. It's all about the money.
Stanley Cup Finals Game 3
2008-05-28 17:28:00 This is just a friendly reminder to take your SCF chit chat over to Pensburgh , where the Penguins die-hards like FrankD and JDunman will be desperately seeking as much moral support as they can get. Who better to prop up their sagging spirits when facing the Red Wings than Avalanche fans? Head over to Pensburgh and chime in once he gets the thread posted. Unless of course you're rooting against the Penguins and for the Red Wings. In that case, you should just find a dark cellar and lock yourself in it. Forever.

2008-05-27 14:05:00 Yesterday, game two of the Stanley Cup final was presented at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The Detroit Red Wings, after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins with ease by the score of 4-0 during game one of the series, played an even better game as they only left bits to their opponents.During the first period, defense-men Brad Stuart scored his first goal of the playoffs as he opened the score for the Wings with a shot on Marc-André Fleury's stick side. Only a few minutes later, after a turnover committed by the Penguins defense, Henrik Zetterberg's shot was partially blocked by the Penguins' goaltender. Tomas Holmstrom pushed the loose puck over the goal line to double the Wings lead.Valteri Fillipula completed the score during the third period with a spectacular individual play. 2008 Stanley Cup final: Pittsburgh Penguins vs Detroit Red Wings.
2008-05-22 02:26:00 The quest for the Stanley Cup began with 16 teams and three elimination rounds later, the field has been reduced to the last two.To the opinion of the majority of hockey observers and backed by their impressive playoff records, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings represent the two big forces both in the Eastern and the Western conference. The Penguins tied a NHL playoff record by winning their three first matches of every series along the way. The Senators, swept in four games, while the Rangers and the Flyers both managed to win a single game in their home building after falling 0-3 to the Penguins. A 12-2 record for three rounds is not common. The offense never slowed down. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marian Hossa are producing on a great pace while players like Jordan Staal, Pascal Dupuis and Maxime Talbot can score big goals at critical times. Defense men Sergei Gonchar supports the offense and has valuable experience at the defense position. Another defense men wo...

2008 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Preview and Prediction
2008-05-20 08:01:00 The Stanley Cup Finals are set as the Detroit Red Wings get set to open the Finals at home against the Eastern Conference champion Pittsburgh Penguins. This looks to be one of the most entertaining Finals in recent memory as two of the most talented teams in the NHL go head to head for hockey's ultimate prize.Detroit vs. PittsburghBreakdown: This should be one heck of a series to watch. Both teams can really skate. Both teams can shut you down on defense. Both teams have goalies who are on top of their game right now. At the end of the day I give the slight edge to the Pens. I think they are a little bit deeper, a little bit more talented, a little bit younger, a little bit hungrier, a little bit better on defense, and a little bit better in goal. All in all that adds up to a Stanley Cup for Pittsburgh in my book. The Penguins are clicking on all cylinders and have been more impressive against better competition this post-season than Detroit. The Pens are battle tested and ready to...

Stanley Cup playoffs no time for whine party
2008-04-28 18:48:00 Complain about twirling the octopus, whine about the calls, fret over bad ice, scream about anything and everything. Go ahead, knock yourself out! What to do about whining via parentcenter.com...Define it. Before you pin on your No Whining button and draw a line in the sand, make sure your child (hockey fan) knows what you're talking about. Adults often assume that children (hockey fans) know what whining is and realize how awful it sounds - but that's not necessarily the case. Explain that whining sounds yucky and makes people stop listening. Practice "good" and "not so good" voices together - hearing you at your whiniest will probably elicit a good laugh from your child (hockey fan).Getting the picture hockey fans? The whining has to stop. Every hockey fan could be doing it but isn't. Every hockey writer could be doing it, but most don't. It isn't healthy for you and it isn't healthy for the game! It makes you look bad and when the bounces start going you...
