Sydney Wrap Up
2009-06-11 13:34:00 This mighta been like 3 weeks ago, but it's still fresh in my memory. Me and Mu got up to sydney with The Troublemakers for a show at the Chinese Laundry. It was real rad. Serious, they know how to party up there. Not only was every act amazing, but the crowd fucken got into it. I was walking around the club before my set when The Hump Day Project were playing, and seriously every motherfucker in that place was dancing. There wasn't one chinstroker to be seen! The troublemakers consist of a big crew of peeps who make music, DJ and put on nights, kinda like we do. In fact, it was rad finding a whole group of dudes who you can really make a music connection like that, especially when it's just one state over. I mean they're into similar stuff as us, they play it nice and hype, they're starting to get into all this new hype minimal shit we're getting into as well. On top of that they're production is sounding on point. We got to listen to Big Trouble by Derty Rich and Steve Lind ...

As Predicted: Sydney Moves Back into MELROSE PLACE
2009-04-06 17:38:00 In today’s edition of why one lucky network should be handing over big bucks, a corner office and a fancy title to this TV Addict, we take a look at yesterday’s late breaking news courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter that has actress Laura Leighton reprising her role as everybody’s favorite red-headed vixen, Sydney Andrews on the CW’s MELROSE PLACE re-boot. Something we should mention, we called for way back in March, when we wrote what would turn out to be the following prophetic plea: With Entertainment Weekly reporting that Heather Locklear has done the expected and turned down the CW’s much-publicized plea offer to return to MELROSE PLACE, can the producers please move on, come to their senses and offer Laura Leighton the starring role Sydney so richly deserves. Not surprisingly, Leighton joining the cast of ludicrously good looking tenants including Shaun Sipos, Michael Rady, Jessica Lucas, Katie Cassidy, Ashlee Simpsson-Wentz, Colin Egglesfield and...

Hermetically sealed in a Sydney YHA
2009-03-13 13:19:00 There's always someone who spoils it for everyone else isn't there? You know who I mean: The selfish git who decided he wasn't going to give way to any traffic, thereby ensuring the invention of the traffic light; the UK fun police (all 3 of em) who decided to take offence at Brand and Ross's silly radio prank which led to one of them resigning and the other returning after a 3 months' suspension period as a watered down, sorrier version of himself; the psycho who decided to go out in a blaze of glory by gunning down a class of students, so that all schools have to spend their hard won budgets on turning themselves into Fort Knox; And now the fruit loop who decided that throwing themself out of a hotel window would be the answer to all their problems, without due consideration of the consequences for millions of non-suicidal hotel guests. The end result of these nutters' selfish actions is that hotels the world over now come with rooms that have non-opening windows. At best th...

Moving to Sydney
2008-11-27 00:06:00 A couple of months from now, I’ll be moving to Sydney to take up a position as Lecturer in Systematic Theology at United Theological College (a university-based seminary in Parramatta: it’s both a seminary of the Uniting Church and part of the School of Theology at Charles Sturt University). So I’ll be teaching undergraduate and Masters students, as well as supervising doctoral research. Needless to say, I’d be glad to talk to any of you Sydneysiders who might be considering doctoral work in theology. I’m told that my great, great, great (etc) grandfather was Governor of the Parramatta jail, way back in the 19th century – and he was such a despicable tyrant that the inmates rioted and killed him. I trust my own time in Parramatta will be just as memorable.

high heeled women sprint for world record In Sydney
2008-09-04 16:04:00 Hundreds of women - and a few men - jostle for line honors in the stiletto sprint eventWith three-inch high-heel shoes on feet, 265 ladies tore up an 80-meter race track at Sydney's Circular Quay on Tuesday to break the world record for the most people running in a "stiletto sprint". Four hundred meter hurdler Brittney McGlone, 18, was first across the line, winning the 5,000 Aus dollar (4,250 U.S. dollars) award. She was closely followed by dozens of leggy blondes and brunettes in green shorts, some of whom came off second best with scratches and scrapes from a few spills, according to a report of Australian Associated Press. Former Australian sprinter Melinda Gainsford-Taylor had the job of inspecting the athletes and ensuring they were wearing three-inch heals and had the customary smooth legs. An event spokeswoman said the current world record topped the previous world record of 150 ladies. "It looks like Australia has smashed the current world record and should now hold the ti...
