St. Louis Cardinals Stun Texas Rangers, Win World Series
2011-10-29 21:48:00 After looking like they were dead, two World Series Games down to the Texas Rangers, the St. Louis Cardinals came back to win World Series Game 7 in somewhat less dramatic fashion, 5 to 2. After trailing 2 to zip, the Cards tied the contest, then pulled ahead to win. Now, as the Dallas Morning (Read More...)
Texas Rangers Def Detroit Tigers, Off To World Series Again
2011-10-16 08:52:00 The Texas Rangers become one of just five teams in American League Championship Series history since 1969 to win back to back ALCS series (the other teams were the Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, and the Toronto Blue Jays), and return to the World Series. And the Rangers did it in a way (Read More...)
Are the Texas Rangers liable for fan's death?
2011-07-08 14:58:00 ARLINGTON, Texas — By now everyone has seen the video of 39 year old firefighter Shannon Stone, who died after falling from the stands while reaching for a baseball tossed his way by All-Star outfielder Josh Hamilton.  Stone was a Texas Rangers fan from Brownwood, Texas, located 150 miles southwest of Arlington. The Rangers closed their clubhouse to...
World Series fans! Step back to October 8, 1956 and Don Larsen's 'Perfect'
2010-10-28 02:46:00 Yogi Berra leaps into the arms of perfect game World Series pitcher Don Larsen on October 8, 1956, image by wallyg via FlickrBy BOB ANDELMAN (email) Lew Paper had to be wondering if it was a good thing or a bad thing ? for him ? when, a few weeks ago, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay threw the first no-hitter in post-season competition in 54 years against the hapless Cincinnati Reds. --------------Listen to my LEW PAPER interview!-------------- After all, Paper had just launched his new book, Perfect: Don Larsen?s Miraculous World Series Game and the Men Who Made It Happen, and Halladay?s achievement could have potentially taken away from or added to the lustre of what the little-known Yankees pitcher accomplished back in 1956 against the Brooklyn Dodgers. For my money, I think Halladay ? who has been a consistently awesome pitcher throughout his career ? only served to remind us what a gem a no-hitter is and how rare getting one in the post-season really is. The Texas Rangers Antlers & Claws signs and how you can incorporate them in
2010-10-27 17:37:00 The World Series starts tonight and for those who follow baseball, you may have noticed that the Texas Rangers often flash a “claw” or “antlers” sign when they do something good. I’ve had a lot of people ask me, “What are the antlers and claw signs that the Rangers do?” Whether you think it’s juvenile ...

Texas Rangers Win: World Series And Super Bowl In Arlington, Texas
2010-10-23 08:51:00 The Texas Rangers commanding 6-1 ALCS win against the New York Yankees means not just a trip to the 2010 World Series, but first World Series for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It also means that for the first time in Metroplex history, it will have both the World Series and The Super Bowl just four months from each other, and one city, Arlington, Texas, will be America's sports epicenter for 2010-2011. Arlington, Texas, where this blogger attended undergraduate school at The University of Texas at Arlington, before heading for grad school at Cal Berkeley, is situated right smack in the middle of the Metroplex, almost equidistant between Dallas to the east and Fort-Worth to the west, Arlington is 15 miles south of DFW Airport. Because it's the playing home of both the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, it's the home of the World Series and The Super Bowl. Two events with a combined economic impact of over $300 million. Because Arlington was the place selected to build...
Cliff Lee sent to Texas Rangers, Jake Peavy sent to Oak Park Orthopedic Sur
2010-07-10 02:30:00 This is pretty much great. I guess it'd be preferable if Lee went to the NL, but he didn't wind up with the Twins, didn't arrive with the Sox at the cost of the entire farm system and all of our draft picks for the next 6 years, and the White Sox will probably not play Texas again. There are no more Texas games on the schedule, and the ChiSox would most likely play the AL East champion if they made the playoffs. This could have gone so much worse. The Sox are a game and a half ahead of the Twins, who are presently getting shellacked by Detroit because they don't have very good starting pitching. Hooray for the status quo. Meanwhile, I suppose it was officially confirmed today that Jake Peavy is out for the season. It was pretty clear to me that he was out for the season the first time I heard the phrase "muscle detached from bone". The last time I heard that phrase prior to Jake's back explosion was Nomar Garciaparra's 2005 groin explosion with the Cubs. Granted Nomar...
Texas Rangers' Josh Hamilton: Great Comeback Story ?????
2010-02-13 15:13:00 If an athlete, or any person, makes a poor character choice, a mistake (i.e. cheating, illicit drug use, etc.), are they destined to live out the rest of their life as an individual known for being short on character and integrity? Is it possible to rebuild the trust lost through poor decisions like this? If so, does this become a solid and respectable example for others, especially kids, by earning back that previous loss of character? Basically, is there any redemption for such an individual?

The Texas Rangers Have Serious Financial Troubles
2009-07-03 06:52:00 With our nation's economy in turmoil it was just a matter of time before a team went into serious financial distress. Today, I learned that the Texas Rangers needed to borrow 15 million dollars from Major League Baseball to make their most recent payroll. Sources tell me that the Rangers will be sold to Nolan Ryan and that MLB is assisting in the process so that it goes as smoothly as possible. Rangers owner Tom Hicks also owns a professional soccer team but had no trouble making payroll there and that has the folks in the MLB offices not very happy that they had to send big money to bail Hicks out while he found the money to support another team...

Restocked Boston Red Sox Punish Texas Rangers...Boston 8 Texas 1
2008-09-06 10:42:00 The Boston Red Sox, restocked with players Mike Lowell, Sean Casey and starter Josh Beckett, with Roberto Colon coming back next week, won the 9th game of their last 11, an 8-1 triumph over the Rangers in Texas. The return of a healthy Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell made all the difference in this one, with Josh going 5 tremendous innings (he was on a pitch count), allowing zero runs and zero walks while striking out 7. He was in control. PERIOD. His manager said this..?I think we were thrilled,? manager Terry Francona said. ?He went out and commanded really well. He threw a cutter that had late movement to it and even when he missed, he was missing around the plate. . . . He did a great job.?And here's what the man himself had to say...?Health is the main thing and I came out of it healthy, which is what we were really looking for,? Beckett said. ?This is definitely a steppingstone. It?s going to be easier next time going out there, not thinking about it.?Peter here, and as the Rola...

Texas Rangers Day One Draft Recap: Smoaking Out
2008-06-06 08:12:00 Watching Michael Young and Milton Bradley and Ramon Vazquez and, yes, even Kevin Millwood recover from a horrific four-run outburst levied against the Texas Rangers’ 33-year-old staff ace by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday evening to eventually claim a fantastic 9-4 victory, it struck me just how tremendously vital even a single win or a ...

Streaking Boston Red Sox Finish Off Four Game Sweep Of The Texas Rangers
2008-04-22 11:14:00 The Boston Red Sox celebrated Patriot's Day in style, and with a "B-like" lineup, too. They defeated the happless Texas Rangers by a score of 8-3. The three runs were given up by the Sox bullpen, for Clay Buchholz had what might have been his breakout start, the one we were all waiting for. He went six innings, allowing five hits and ZERO runs while walking two. He also added six big strikeouts. All four of his pitches were working, and with the familiar (to him) Kevin Cash as his behind-the-plate batterymate, he was comfortable in using them all to keep Texas off balance, never knowing what would be coming next. Tito Francona had this to say about his starter..."I thought he was much more unpredictable in all counts," manager Terry Francona said after the Sox had swept the Rangers, locking up their fifth straight win and ninth in 10 games. "He was throwing all his pitches."We talk so often about establishing fastball, but with Clay, he's got four pitches that if he can throw at a...

The Red Sox Defeat The Texas Rangers At Fenway. Manny And Papi Are Hot...To
2008-04-20 11:48:00 In front of 37,598 frenzied fans, the largest post-WWII crowd in Fenway Park history, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Texas Rangers by a score of 5-3. The Sox are running on all cylinders, and Big Papi David Ortiz is getting hot, but not as hot as the man who bats behind him. Manny Ramirez continued his white-hot torrid hitting with a tie-breaking two run home run in the 8th that cemented the Sox' 7th victory in their last 8 games. His swings are things of wonder and beauty these days. Take it from a teammate, Dustin Pedroia..."All of Manny's swings look like some of the best swings I've ever seen," said Pedroia. "Every at-bat is a quality at-bat."Peter here, and well said, Dustin. Jon Lester started the game and lasted until one out in the 7th inning, his longest outing of the season. Although the last place Rangers bashed 10 base hits, he only allowed 3 earned runs and his walk total was a manageable 2. He struck out 5. Ask the Experts: Texas Rangers
2008-03-30 12:26:00 Our friends over at RotoProfessor recently had the opportunity to post five questions to Texas Rangers beat writer Evan Grant. Evan writes for the Dallas Morning News. There are a lot of questions concerning this ball club for the 2008 season, so lets see what he has to say.Josh Hamilton had a tremendous return to baseball last season (.292, 19 HR). Do you see his position in the batting order affecting the way he follows up on that performance?Evan Grant: I think he will start out in the No. 2 spot, but by the end of the year, he could be this team’s cleanup guy. I don’t think where he hits will have any impact on his batting average or power numbers, but obviously he may not have as many run-producing opps in the No. 2 spot. If he plays a full season, he’s going to hit about 30 homers and his batting average will probably sit right about where it was last year, maybe even a bit higher. How do you see Jarrod Saltalamacchia performing in his first full season in the major leag...

Texas Rangers OF David Murphy: What Are His Chances?
2008-03-27 02:46:00 by acr, a Fake Teams member: So this guy has done nothing but hit since Texas got him last year in the Gagne trade. He seems to not be on the radar of most fantasy leaguers. This Spring the guy has not missed a beat. Last year's numbers came as a surprise- .340/.382/.534 with the Rangers in 103 ab's. Not much power but he did hit 12 doubles, that can be translated into some power numbers. Maybe not 30+ HR potential but I think he could hit 20. Certainly Spring numbers are inflated. But Murphy is hitting .392/.407/.725 in 51 ab's. He's been overshadowed this Spring by teammate Josh Hamilton's incredible run. But check out their numbers (as of 3/25): Josh Hamilton .460/.500/.780 50 ab 39 TB 2 HR 15 RBI 4:12 bb:k Murphy .392/.407/.725 51 ab 37 TB 4 HR 15 RBI 2:7 bb:k Lasty night Murphy batted in the two hole. Maybe that is the perfect spot for him. But Hamilton was not in the line-up as Marlon Byrd played center.  ...

On bad teams, I like to look at the closer first. If a team has a talented closer, he's worth drafting to see if he'll produce saves when given the chance and get traded to a contender in mid-season.
