The King Of Diplomacy On China-US Relations.
2009-08-19 20:56:00
I have always loved the television commercials where some cheesy guy wearing a crown (presumably the owner of the appliance store or whatever else it is that is being advertised) screams out the discounts you can expect to get by shopping at his store. If my memory serves me right, I've been witness to the King of Cars, the King of Discounts, and the Appliance King. John Grisham wrote a book called the King of Torts and who can forget Rupert Pupkin as the King of Comedy? Like him or not, Henry Kissinger is the King of Diplomacy and he has a Washington Post op-ed out today, entitled, "Rebalancing Relations With China" (h/t China Hearsay, who also thinks highly of the op-ed) setting out how the United States should be dealing with China. And again, like him or not, the guy does know whereof he speaks and this is his own summary of what should be done: While the center of gravity of international affairs shifts to Asia, and America finds a new role distinct from hegemony yet com...
Michael Jackson Sighted, The Return of The King
2009-08-09 23:08:00
Michael Jackson is not dead. Reports of Michael Jackson sightings have been coming in from around the world. A glove reaching out of a McDonald's ball pitt in Romania, a strange looking  stewardess giving out "Jesus Juice," to children on a flight to Japan. Most recently children were treated to a fantastic show at a Chucky Cheese in Omaha Nebraska. It was little Lee Widner's tenth birthday party,  and things were getting pretty boring, until suddenly  from out of the kitchen a masked pale man came  moon-walking out of the kitchen and treated all  the kiddies to a performance of Billie Jean. The man who called himself Herman Batman, then treated Lee and two of his best friends to trip around the state in a private jet, that "Herman" claimed to have acquired in a "cash for clunkers" deal. The event left town folks scratching their heads and wondering,  was Herman Batman, really Michael Jackson.

2009-08-05 18:25:00
An animation latency patch has been announced for the King of Fighters 12. Patch for King of Fighters 12 is said to be a must to have patch for the game as many issues have arouse in the game in a short release period of just one week. An animation glitch has been found in the game that King of Fighters 12 animation latency patch will try to fix. This animation glitch causes the Elizabeth's character to freeze for some duration when Raiden performs a specific move on her. Also there has been reports of poor online game experience from King of Fighters fans. To address such issues, some tips have been provided by the developers. First of all not more than two players should be allowed in a room. This will save you from the latency that normally occurs when some one else on the slow connection joins you online in the game. King of Fighter 12 patch will also address this issue after it releases. Secondly, if you are behind the firewall with NAT Type 3, you should configure it to NAT Ty...
King Of Pop Is The King Of Web Too
2009-07-08 08:57:00
King of Pop – Michael Jackson is no more but he still has the power to bring things to his feet. Yesterday, Michael Jackson’s sobering memorial service has been watched as the 2nd most popular event on the web ever. Social Media had already made the arrangements & partnerships to cover this event, including MySpace, Facebook (partnership with CNN), Ustream (partnership with CBS), and Hulu offering live streams. This was the second biggest web event ever after the earlier President Obama inauguration ceremony drew maximum attention over the web. Although, its too early to compare the traffic but here is a small look to the comparison of web traffic Web traffic on MJ Memorial Omniture reports CNN traffic: 72 million page views 10.8 million unique visitors 8.9 million live video streams Ustream: 4.6 million total streams 1.6 million total unique visitors 12,000 messages per minute sent through chat/Ustream’s Social Stream Facebook: 1 million users posted approx 800,000 statu...

All Hail the KING(S)
2009-07-06 15:44:00
If there was a silver-lining to last night’s curious decision by HBO to withhold new episodes of TRUE BLOOD and HUNG from the schedule in lieu of the July 4 holiday weekend, it was that it gave this TV Addict some much needed time to catch up on four episodes of KINGS. And catch up we did. Which is why we find ourselves taking a page from King Silas Benjamin (A man, who we’re fairly certain has yet to let an episode go by without some kind of pronouncement, press conference or proclamation) this morning by making an announcement of our very own: If you’re not watching KINGS — and judging form the show’s abysmal ratings, that’s 98% of you reading this — you’re missing out on the most intriguing, complex, and scandalous series of the summer. Not only is Ian McShane’s morally ambiguous portrayal of King Silas Benjamin absolutely captivating (and, we should probably mention to all those Academy members who still have yet to send in their ba...
The King of Pop
2009-06-29 00:52:00
Michael Jackson's career began in the mid 1960's but as a 51 year old he is really part of my Squeezed Generation of the 70's and 80's, which spawned the punk rock drama Rock and Roll Love Story, which is set in New Jersey and a grimy neighborhood in New York City in the late 1970's.Michael's kind of mega-Hollywood meets Motown music, and his gaudy gold-plated West Coast showmanship are epilets and crowns and tiaras and miles and miles away from the alternative bands that wore flannel shirts, sneakers and blue jeans and slammed out blues and punk on the East Coast. But Michael was quite obviously the biggest rock star of my generation, right up there with the Beatles, Stones, Dylan and Hendrix, and I cannot just let him pass without pausing to reflect.I wrote several different versions of his obituary for this blog and you know as someone who writes about mental health and struggling over adversities, I just didn't have it in my heart to bring up the terrible, nagging pedophi...

THE KING OF POP HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
2009-06-26 02:00:00
June 1980 Playmate Ola Ray, in "Thriller" with Jackson. Poor Michael Jackson....they say it comes in threes and we've had Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahan and now Michael.  It's been a very sad week.  Michael is one of nine children and was born August 29th, 1958.  Friends say he's been under incredible stress for such a long time and he had also been working so hard on the British tour that this is not totally surprising. The Apollo Theatre marquee reads, "A True Apollo Legend" and that he was.  He was inducted twice into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Jackson Five and also as a solo artist.  The 13 time Grammy winner has...

The Top Ten Options For Celebrating Elvis' B-day (As Approved By The King

*Although he is living on an island with Marilyn Monroe, JFK and Jim Morrison, Elvis himself did not officially endorse this Top Ten List. Neither did Elvis' estate, for that matter. Not sure about the sideburns and all since the National Enquirer said one had to be glued back on after his death. D'oh). It drives that lady folk crazy. And if that isn't enough of an enticement guys, check this out: You don't have to shave as much of your face when sporting the trucker burns because they take up most of your cheek and hard to reach just under the jaw places.9. The church and Britain: a homily for Christ the King Sunday
2008-12-09 01:59:00
A guest-post by Andrew Brower Latz (Ben’s note: Sorry, I’m a couple of weeks behind with this – but I still wanted to post this excellent sermon, which Andrew Brower Latz, an F&T-reader, preached recently for Christ the King Sunday)Today is the feast of Christ the King, or the Reign of Christ, the last Sunday of the Christian year. It was established by the Roman Catholic Church in the 20th century in response to the rise of fascism. It proclaims, in the words of Paul, that Christ is ‘far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named.’ Powerful stuff, but what does it mean for us today, living in a 21st-century liberal democracy?Let me begin with two examples from the media, one recent and one not so recent. The first, on Thursday on Radio 3, was a discussion with Trevor Philips, director of the Commission for Racial Equality; someone towards the left of the political spectrum, who describes himself as progressive and libertarian. ...

Aristotle Onassis the king of kings
2008-09-23 23:01:00
_uacct = "UA-2807163-1";urchinTracker();-"All that really counts these days is money," Aristotle Onassis once said. "It's the people with money who are the royalty now." By that maxim, the ambitious, expansive Greek shipping magnate was a king of kings. Until he died of bronchial pneumonia in 1975 in Paris at age 69, after months of suffering from myasthenia gravis (a debilitating disease that weakens the body muscles), Onassis had flamboyantly ruled an empire of ocean tankers and airlines, banks, real estate holdings and trading companies. His total worth was estimated to be at least 3 billions. Unlike many of his reclusive peers in that small realm of the super-super-rich, Onassis knew how to spend as lavishly as he earned. Known around the world as "Ari" or "Daddy-O" (his Greek friends - including me, however, called him "Telis," the diminutive of Aristotle), he was the prime mover of the jet set. He had residences in half a dozen cities, an Ionian island of his own and an elegan...

Father's Day Gifts - Treat Dad Like The King He Is This Father's Da
2008-05-31 15:43:00
Treating your sweetie to a Father's Day he'll never forget isn't as hard as it might sound. After all, guys are suckers for a little tender, loving care. Now, if your kids are still in the picture, you'll want to break up your plans into two parts. The first is all about Dad and the kids. The second, well, let's just say you'll need to save that for later ??? behind closed doors. To get started with the festivities, you and the kids will need to decide how to approach the day. Perhaps Dad would love to be treated to breakfast in bed, followed up by a Sunday of relaxation? Maybe he'd like a day at the park with the little ones? Whatever you and the kids think would make his day, be sure to do. Make sure the kids have plenty of presents lined up for Dad, too. Go beyond the standard ties and socks though. There are some great gift baskets available for dads with all sorts of interests. These make great gifts from the kids and they will put a smil...

Microsoft Popfly v.s. Google Mashup Editor - Who's the king of mashup's?
2008-05-29 21:17:00
In the last one year we saw both the high-tech companies (Microsoft & Google) releasing their versions of mashup editors to help us create web 2.0 applications without having to write even a single line of code. Today I review both of these services to actually see which of one these 2 services has the edge over one another?   Microsoft Popfly Popfly is Microsoft?s version of a mashup editor. It?s built using Microsoft Silverlight platform which gives it all that slick look and ease of use. Using Popfly, we can create online mashups easily by using what they call as "Blocks". There are many blocks already available to provide data from different web services like Facebook, Wikipedia, Digg, MySpace, Flickr etc. We can also create gadgets easily by just dragging and dropping that works both on Windows Vista and Windows Live.  Popfly also enables us to create games without even having to write a single line of code. These games works also on Xbox Live. Popfly is designed...
