Tigers? Jackson dominates Indians again (AP)
2009-09-23 01:15:00
Edwin Jackson wouldn't allow the AL Central to get any tighter. Now is definitely not the time. Detroit's steady starter pitched seven shutout innings and remained unbeaten against Cleveland this season, and the first-place Tigers kept their slender lead over Minnesota with a 3-1 win over the staggering Indians, who dropped their ninth straight on ...
Tigers win, lead Twins by 3 games (AP)
2009-09-20 20:10:00
Placido Polanco drove in three runs, Detroit's bullpen pitched four shutout innings and the Tigers avoided a three-game sweep with a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday to increase their AL Central lead to three games. Ryan Raburn homered for slumping Detroit, which won for the second time in six games and fourth ...
Tigers, Twins Lose, as do White Sox
2009-09-12 14:40:00
Second place, five games out. That's what the White Sox could have been this morning had they of taken advantage of another pair of losses by the Twins and Tigers. But they aren't, thanks to a boring 7-1 loss to the Angels, where the only entertainment from the Sox came when Ozzie Guillen was hit in the dugout by a foulball....
Rival News: Tigers Lose Third Straight
2009-09-11 02:38:00
If you're the optimistic type and are searching for anything that keeps the White Sox playoff hopes alive, then the Tigers being swept by the Kansas City Royals should do the trick. The Sox are still a sizable six games out, but with six games left between the two teams and 13 games away from any of them being played, a Tigers skid could open the door for the Sox (and Twins) to at least make it interesting....
Report: Memphis Tigers to Vacate 2008 Final Four
2009-08-20 09:08:00
Several outlets are reporting that the 2008 University of Memphis Tigers basketball team will be forced by the NCAA to forfeit their 2008 Final Four appearance and record 38 victories. The infractions center around former Tiger, and current Chicago Bulls star, Derrick Rose. Memphis received a notice of allegations from the NCAA in January alleging major ...

The Tigers Have No Interest in Bradley
2009-07-26 02:06:00
So this afternoon Steve Stone sends out a Tweet on his baseballstone@twitter account saying that the Tigers are interested in Cubs RF Milton Bradley. I hear from a baseball agent who says the same thing and then after Stone's post hits the internet and I put the rumor on my blog all hell breaks loose. So let's review what I posted this afternoon. The headline of the post says "Can it be? Are the Tigers after Milton Bradley? The post talks about the rumor and ends this way:  I will be working my baseball sources for more on this rumor but if it is indeed true the Cubs need to make that deal ASAP!So from that post and Stone's Twitter everyone...
Can it Be? Are the Tigers After Milton Bradley?
2009-07-25 19:44:00
Two very solid baseball sources confirmed for me just moments ago that the Detroit Tigers are interested in Cubs RF Milton Bradley. They believe that Bradley would be a much better fit as a DH than as a right fielder and that he would mesh well with Tigers manager Jim Leyland. Both sources say that the Tigers have scouted Bradley and are interested depending on how much of his contract the Cubs are willing to eat. Here is the remaining money left on Bradley's deal which depending on certain clauses has two more years left on it.Milton Bradley has had a very frustrating season so far in a Cubs uniform. Could he be wearing a Tigers jersey soon?I believe that Bradley...

Cubs at Tigers; 1:05 p.m. ET/12:05 CT
2009-06-25 17:27:00
Ted, you may have to do a little more today than just pitch. Tough week so far for this consistently inconsistent team. Today, the Cubs will try to salvage their trip to the Motor City with a win (one win? please?) against the Tigers in the only favorable matchup. I say this because one T.R. Lilly will be on the mound, he of his superior self. Lilly has a 1.31 ERA over his last five starts, which is just superb.  The Cubs have won in each one of those games, as the bullpen not DARE to cross Ted Lilly and blow a game. Blow one of Zambrano's games, yeah, he might haul off and punch you in the clubhouse,...

Bring it, Porcello Enough messing around. Enough with going back to not being able to hit the ball. Enough with the pigpen. Enough with Aaron Miles being on this team. All else aside, I refuse to lose to a guy named Fredrick Alfred Porcello. I mean, come on. His parents were apparently so into the name "Fred" they managed to fit two different versions of it into his name. So Cubs, despite all the hype about Porcello's high school, college, and minor league career, if you lose, it will be to a guy basically named Fred Fred Mushroom. If you can live with that....

Game Notes For Tuesday @ Tigers
2009-06-23 16:31:00
*The Tigers have the best home record in interleague play since 2004 at 39-12. *Carlos Zambrano has been outstanding this month with a 1-0 record and 1.66 ERA. *Miguel Cabrera's .358 average against the Cubs is the highest of any active player. *Milton Bradley's .358 average against the Tigers is the second-highest of any active player behind Bobby Abreu (.371). *With a hit today, Derrek Lee would be the 4th player this season to post a 20-game hitting streak (Ryan Zimmeran 30, Ichiro Suzuki 27, Jacoby Ellsbury 22)....
Do Tigers Dream Of Striped Sweaters? (3 Good Things 2)
2009-06-20 13:42:00
Yesterday it rained a lot, which might bring other people down, but not me. Because not only do I love to hear the rain in the summertime, but I also had my 3 good things:1. I got the "SpongeBob Squarepants" CD "The Yellow Album," featuring The Sweater Song.2. I got 2 of the 3 air-conditioners installed.3. Oldest paid up on my birthday present. For presents, I always ask that I get to go somewhere or do something instead of getting gifts. Oldest in January had promised to take me to a movie, and yesterday, she and Sweetie and I went to see The Hangover, and she paid. So, free movie!Read the previous 3 good things here...
Guinness Final: Tigers Reign Supreme
2009-05-17 05:26:00
The London Irish & Leicester Tigers have provided us with 3 fantastic battles this season and unfortunately for London, today’s clash ended in favor of the Tigers. Leicester won their 8th English crown, slipping past the Irish 10-9 in a tense defensive struggle.  Sometimes a 10-9 scoreline in rugby equals a boring ass match. Not the ...

Guinness Final: Can London Tame The Tigers?
2009-05-15 17:48:00
The London Irish head into their first Guinness Premiership Final at Twickenham on Saturday as huge underdogs. Can the upstarts defeat one of the most successful clubs in English rugby history? The Irish & Leicester Tigers will battle for the Guinness Premiership Championship. The Final airs LIVE on Setanta Sports (12:30 Eastern U.S.) Being a supporter of the London Wasps, I’m always bitter when my boys fair to reach the finals. That doesn’t change the fact that I’m very much looking forward to what could be a history making day at Twickenham. The other club with “London” in their name are looking to win their first Premiership championship. The oddsmakers are not giving them much of a chance but I beg to differ (and not just because of my hatred of Leicester). They say in sports its tough to beat a club three times in one season and that is what Leicester is hoping to accomplish tomorrow. The two clubs tangled for the first time this season way bac...

2009-04-12 05:45:00
It was a good day for the Cardiff Blues & Leicester Tigers as they both advance to the semifinals of the Heineken Cup following victories today. It wasn’t easy for the Blues, as they slipped past Toulouse 9-6 in a hard hitting defensive battle.  Ben Blair would score all 9 Cardiff points with his boot. Leicester & ...
