Fruits and vegetables, improved the quality of semen..?????? ? ??????? ????
2009-06-11 14:21:00 Fruits and vegetables, improved the quality of semen Men who eat large amounts of fruits and vegetables have good seminal qualityAccording to the research, which was carried out in two infertility centres in Alicante and Murcia, low antioxidant intake is associated with low reproductive capacity in semen."Our previous research study, published in March, showed that men who eat large amounts of meat and full fat dairy products have lower seminal quality than those who eat more fruit, vegetables and reduced fat dairy products."In this study, we have found that people who consume more fruits and vegetables are ingesting more antioxidants, and this is the important point," Jaime Mendiola, lead author of the article and a researcher at the University of Murcia, tells SINC.The experts have spent the past four years analysing the link between dietary habits or workplace exposure to contaminants and the quality of semen among men attending fertility clinics. The objective was to find out whe...

None such, he said, should be eaten, except what had died a natural death, such as fruit that was lying on the ground and about to rot, or cabbage-leaves that had turned yellow in late autumn. These and other like garbage he declared to be the only food that might be eaten with a clear conscience. Even so the eater must plant the pips of any apples or pears that h...

Tips on Cooking Vegetables
2009-02-19 19:23:00 It is well known fact that all vegetables are more nutritious and flavorful when cooked in the microwave oven. They also retain their texture. Only a few spoonfuls of water are required to create steam to cook the vegetable. A few tips on cooking the various kinds :? Cover all vegetables with plastic wrap as they tend to dry up.? Vegetables with a high water content such as leafy vegetable and beansprouts do not require any water to cook - simply wash and cook while still wet.? Use a wide container and spread the vegetable rather than pile them in many layers.? Cut gourds and roots such as angled loofah and carrot into equalized pieces so they cook evenly.? Peel off the fibrous tough stem surface of some leafy vegetable such as kale as it prolongs cooking time.? Cook stems first, adding leaves only when stems have begun to change color, or leaves will disintegrate while stems are still cooking.Vegetables may provide vitamin and roughage to modern nutritionist, but the Chinese know t...

Soccer moms? Vegetables? Oh, well: TGIF!
2008-09-12 17:01:00 It's another video from The Sproutwells-- I love these things. They really... GROW ... on me. Ha! Ha!We've had a lot of fun here today, kids, but you know what's not funny? Making fun of soccer moms. Soccer moms play a vital role in our society; soccer leagues now account for 98% of the gross domestic product, and soccer moms keep those leagues humming.Sweetie was going to be a soccer mom, but we nixed that idea after the time she took the Babies! to the park and then accidentally locked Mr Bunches in the car while she and Mr F were outside... while they weren't hurt at all, it did require me to heroically drive there with my spare set of keys, only to find that she'd already gotten him free with the help of a friendly police officer. So the point of my story is... you should definitely go to freshfunds today and sign up; all you have to do is sign up on their site, then keep buying the healthy foods that you're already buying, for which you'll get points -- like, say, buy...

Choosing Fruits and Vegetables For A Healthy Diet
2008-07-19 01:41:00 The new food guidelines issued by the United States government recommend that all Americans eat about nine servings of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables each and every day. This is important to provide your body with the minimal levels of essential nutrients and antioxidants needed by each and every cell in your body to support optimal health. When you first hear that number, it may seem like a lot, but it is actually much easier than you think to fit that many servings of fruits and vegetables into your healthy diet plan. Shelves of the grocery stores are bursting with fresh fruits and vegetables. Uncooked, these provide essential nutrients, fiber and even a portion of the water you need every day of your life. In addition, vegetables and fruits are some of the least expensive, most nutrient rich, foods in the supermarket. With all these fruits and vegetables to choose from, it is very easy to make these nutritious, delicious foods part of your daily meals and snacks.Adding nine ser...

V is for Vegetables to be enjoyed on the barbecue
2008-06-10 09:01:00 I know that for those of you who live in warmer countries my delight at having a little sun must seem quaint. We have eaten out in our tiny garden for every meal this week, including breakfast. On a school day this is at 7 am in the morning and we sit there biting toast and spreading honey in monastic silence, trying not to wake our neighbours. To round off our V for Vegetable Kebabs this is Freddie's favourite selection of dishes. But the "absolute top of them all" as he tells me are Lamb and Artichoke Kebabs which he recommends to you all. It is in Italian, so if you want to check it out, and I recommend that you do, use one of those handy dandy translators like this translator from Google. You can even watch a video of traditional Sardinian dancing and singing - something Sardinians are known for. vegetables, beautiful vegetables 2008: Creamy pea & chive risotto
2008-05-25 00:00:00 Like last year Abby from eat the right stuff encourages food bloggers to share their favourite vegetarian recipes for vegetables, beautiful vegetables. I am not a convinced vegetarian, but I love to cook something without meat. I have to admit until today I always used pearl barley for the Whole-Grain Barley Bread With Barley Grits, I never cooked with it. Barley is rich in minerals, including calcium, iron and potassium. It's also a good source B vitamins, especially B3 and B6. Both are important for energy, healthy and red blood cells and the functioning of the nervous system. Pearl barley cooks in a similar way to risotto rice. Like last year I partake this event with a green dish, this time Creamy pea & chive risotto You know it's spring, if you eat green dishes and can use your chive from the garden. Delicious, the children were also delighted with pearl barley. We should use it more often. -=========REZKONV-Recipe - RezkonvSuite v1.4Title: Creamy pea & chive risottoC...

Tuscan Recipe: Honey Rabbit with Vegetables
2008-05-20 16:22:00 In Tuscany the culinary tradition is very much centered on all sorts of meats. When approaching Tuscan dishes you should always try to include a meat course in your meal. For centuries the most popular kinds of meat on the Tuscan table have been game, chicken, pork and barnyard animals. The latter kind includes all sorts of game that could be bread in captivity to fatten and function as a live stock of food during the cold winters.Geese, poultry, ducks, pigeons, and rabbits were and are the most common barnyard animals in Tuscany. Nowadays most of these animals are bread in large farms, but it is not rare to find a private farmer that breads these animals to satisfy the needs of his/her family and sell the surplus at the local weekly market. In some countries rabbits are considered pets just as cats and dogs, however in countries like France, Spain, Italy and there fore in Tuscany, the rabbit is not considered a pet but live food stock. Some may be express some concerns about this, bu...

You can still grow some of your own vegetables if you haven't a garden
2008-05-16 04:47:00 What could be fresher and tastier than carrots pulled from pots on the patio or salads picked in the back yard? Many vegetables and herbs perform very well when grown in containers, which is excellent news for anyone without a garden or an allotment. This method of production is also ideal for people with little time to tend a vegetable patch. Crops can be grown in pots, troughs, window boxes, grow bags, old tyres, chimney pots and guttering. In fact any container which holds sufficient compost for the plant being grown, and allows excess water to drain, will suffice. For salad crops such as lettuces, Chinese greens, and spinach, as well as herbs like basil, coriander and parsley grow bags are cheap and fit into tiny places including window sills and porches. Radishes being quick growing and shallow- rooted can be grown in lengths of guttering. Regular watering in dry weather is a must, as salads stop making leaf and run to seed in hot dry weather. Sow small batches of these crops e...
Movie Night: A New Tradition - Recipes: Olive Cheese Balls, Lentil Koftas,
2008-05-12 16:05:00 I am all about tradition. Even as a young child, I always enjoyed re-occuring events based on a date, an event, or time. I don’t know what it is about me that just loves a good ritualistic event. Maybe it’s the food. Most likely…Now that I am an adult and getting older and recently married, I have started thinking more about traditions, what they mean to me and what kinds of traditions I want to start for my own family. When we lived in Vermont, we used to have Roberto’s girls with us every other weekend, and I loved cooking special things when they were there. Especially in anticipation of Movie Night. We would rent a movie and then make fun food, perfect for watching and eating at the same time. Recently Roberto and I decided that we really need to bring back Movie Night ? even if only for us. A time to get our jammies on and eat fun foods. We have done this three times so far and it seems to be sticking. We have prepared some really fun finger foods and m...
