Delusion Science? (Or Fresh Meat Among a Pack of Wolves?)

I just couldn't resist posting a link I came across. As is common, I stumble on things totally unrelated to what I'm really looking for, but pique my curiosity. I was originally looking for the name of the device used in some beginning Physic's classes to demonstrate the particle nature of light, th

With the possible sale of the Atlanta Thrashers to the Winnipeg based company True North many questions are being asked not only about the NHL team but also their minor league affiliate the Chicago Wolves. The Wolves have been with the Thrashers since they joined the AHL in 2002. With the rumors running rampant all over the internet and local newspapers in Winnipeg about the selling of the Thrashers the Chicago Wolves are in a very good position for whatever happens in terms of the sale.If the sale goes through with Winnipeg getting the Thrashers the most likely scenario is that True North (company of interest in buying the team) would move the team to the MTS Centre where the...

The Wolves Playoff Push
2011-03-10 18:42:00
Ross Dettman/Chicago WolvesWith the Chicago Wolves being only 1 point out of a playoff spot with a possible crossover to the other division. Many have asked what the crossover situation entails and below is the explanation. The West Division will have eight teams and the North will only have seven this coming season.  What the cross over rule means is that the fifth place team in the West would make the playoffs if it has more points than the fourth place team in the North. That means that five teams could make the playoffs in the West and only three in the North. It would be the smart thing to have each conference's top 8 teams make the playoffs but why...

2011-02-05 20:26:00
Manchester United failed to take advantage of Arsenal's slip-up at St James' Park after a 2-1 loss to Wolves. In doing that Man United have failed to set a new club record of 30 games unbeaten in the league. Rafael Da Silva returned after suffering concussion during Man United's game against Blackpool on the 25th January. Darren Fletcher was also fit to start after picking up an eye injury during United's 3-1 win over Aston Villa midweek. Man United starting XI- Van der Sar, Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs, Rooney and Berbatov. Our First Chicago Wolves Game
2011-01-15 22:02:00
Until a few weeks ago, I had heard of the Chicago Wolves. And I knew they were a hockey team. But that's about it. That all changed last Saturday when our family headed out for our first Chicago Wolves experience. I have to say that this experience promises family fun -- and it really delivers (with a few, minor, persnickety exceptions).

Rockford's Alec Richards flinches as Chicago's Andre Deveaux takes a shot. The Chicago Wolves returned to Rockford last night to the Metro Centre in Rockford to play against the IceHogs. The IceHogs appeared to have awakened from their recent snooze, scoring first and continued to play the entire 60 minutes of hockey to win over the Wolves 3-2 on Friday December 17, 2010. While the game was filled with glass rattling hard hits, it remained fairly tame when compared with previous meetings between these two teams. They don't like each other, plain and simple. No fights, no scrums and perhaps only one scuffle that resulted in only a minor roughing penalty for the Wolves. The teams seemed to be concentrating on playing the...

Late Strike From Park Saves United
2010-11-06 19:35:00
Tonight Sir Alex Ferguson will be celebrating his 24 years as Manchester United manager after United picked up all three points after beating Wolves 2-1 at Old Trafford. Both Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov were missing after they both picked up the same virus that has kept Anderson, Darron Gibson, Federico Macheda and Jonny Evans out. United were also without Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen, Luis Nani and Antonio Valencia. The surprising name on the team sheet was Owen Hargreaves, who started his first match for over two years. The joy of his return didn?t last long with the midfielder picking up a hamstring injury within the first five minutes. Hargreaves? departure saw the introduction of Bebe. His main contribution to the game were quite a few poor crosses, which saw him being substituted later on. The away side had the better chances of the first half with a shot from Nenad Milijas deflected just wide of the post. Minutes later Stephen Hunt marginally faile...

Manchester United v Wolves Preview
2010-11-06 07:19:00
This afternoon Manchester United will play Wolves at Old Trafford, in the Premier League. Not only is there an important Premier League match but today, Sir Alex Ferguson celebrates 24 years as manager of Man United. United will be without Luis Nani, who picked up a groin strain midweek. Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves, Antonio Valencia and Wayne Rooney are also out. Anderson, Darron Gibson, Federico Macheda and Jonny Evans were all missing midweek due to a virus, they are all rated as doubtful. Wolves have no new injury problems but they will be without Jody Craddock, Ronad Zubar, Michael Kightly and Adlene Guedioura. Man United currently sit third in the table, five points behind Chelsea but level on points with Arsenal who have a better goal difference. Before today's matche-s, Wolves are 19th in the table with 9 points. In the league they have lost to five game, drawing three and winning two, one of which was against Manchester City. Head-to-head there...
Late Winner From Hernandez Takes United Through To The Quarters
2010-10-27 00:30:00
Substitute Javier Hernandez scored a very late winner against Wolves to take Manchester United through to the Quarter-Finals of the Carling Cup. Sir Alex Ferguson made 11 changes to the side with Ben Amos starting in goal, and Bebe made his first start for the club. Wes Brown, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans, Fabio Da Silva, Gabriel Obertan, Michael Carrick, Darron Gibson, Ji-Sung Park and Federico Macheda all came into the side. Youngsters Ravel Morrison, Magnus Eikrem and Robbie Brady were named on the bench along with Tomasz Kuszczak, Gary Neville, Hernandez and Rafael Da Silva. A very forgettable first half was overshadowed by a much brighter second half, which saw five goals scored. The first of the five came in the 56th minute after Bebe's strike took a deflections off Wolves defender George Elokobi and over keeper Wayne Hennessey to give United the lead. The ball was cleared by Kevin Foley but the ball did go over the line and the goal was correctly awarded. United's celebr...
Manchester United v Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview
2010-10-26 08:00:00
This evening current holders of the Carling Cup, Manchester United will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fourth round of the competition. United faced Wolves last year in the third round of the Carling Cup, with the tie being decided by a Danny Welbeck second half goal. Mick McCarthy returns to Old Trafford for the first time since last Wolves lost 2-0 last December. After fielding a weakened side against Man United during that game, Wolves were fined £250,000. Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to field some of the younger players, with Federico Macheda, Darron Gibson, Bebe and Chris Smalling all expected to play a part. Michael Owen has reportedly recovered from a hamstring injury, which could mean that he may start up front. Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney, Owen Hargreaves, Ryan Giggs and Jonny Evans will all be unavailable for the clash. Wolves will be without Ronald Zubar, Michael Knightly and Jody Cradock, who are all injured. They will also be without the suspended K...

It's morning in Chicago and sleepy Wolves fans are waking up to the reality that the season is over. The Wolves went down in a tough loss to Texas in overtime last night. A painful end to a roller coaster season that started with the firing of coaches, implementing new systems and a team finally finding it's footing in the playoffs. Only one image this morning as the Chicago branch of Call Of the Wild is still having computer issues. The problem has been diagnosed and the cure should be on it's way later today.
