The script is pretty good and handles the September 11th tragedy with true respect without making it in to a circus show or high octane action movie. Nicolas Cage is a slight weakness but although not reknowned for his truly heavyweight performances still manages to muster up a good enough performance to not let everything else down. The scenes of the people trapped amidst the rubble and the tower coming down are extremely well done and portray the sense of claustrophobia and fear amazingly well. Good performances from all the supporting cast including Maria Bello. This is a JM RECOMMENDS.

A clear, sunny day it was with the kids back to school and summer a mere memory as the sunlight faded a bit earlier every evening. My son was just shy of two years old and my daughter was six back then. With the oldest one in school, I had the day with my boy as he was in preschool three days a week. I was off from work, and had to drag my young son with me to the car dealer to get the Chevy serviced when the news hit the wires about a plane hitting the World Trade Center. There's no need to recount the events of that day. Everything is neatly cataloged in the minds of those affected directly or even indirectly by this cowardly act of violence. She was on the 29th floor of World Trade Center Building 1. I remember the images burning into my brain of the planes striking the towers. She felt the building shake from the impact of the Jet. I recall feeling helpless as I watched the events unfold on Television. She was at her desk when the sprinkler system kicked on and the power went out. I remember watching the thousands of people stream out of the basement exits covered in black soot and coughing out the smoke. She made her way in the dark down 29 flights of stairs with hundreds of other while breathing the thick smoke from the jet fuel fires above her. I remember the anger I felt toward those that attacked the U.S. She remembers friends and coworkers that didn't make it out alive. I feel lucky to know her. One of the most recent and alarming finds is a growing number of people developing a rare blood cell cancer, possibly, though not definitely due to the dust inhaled on the site. Researchers came across this as they screened half of the 40,000 ground zero workers and found multiple myeloma in even young people, a condition that 70 percent of the time is developed much later in life. Myeloma is a plasma cell cancer that spreads through bone marrow. Only about 1 percent of these cases occur in people under 40, according to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in Norwalk, Connecticut.
