Decmber 13 - Hectic Goings On
2006-12-14 03:59:01
I've been really busy lately, and have found myself gradually inching away from the classic 'Tech, Gadgets, Computers, Internet' theme that we have going on here. Nevertheless, I thought it fitting that I let you know why I've been so busy. Well yesterday, I was overcome by a flurry of homework to do, with teachers evidently wanting Christmas off. Today, I've been preparing for the BBC Radio Manchester interview, Skyping long lost Internet Marketers about new websites (which may I add, if I had the choice, I would have already reported on!) and completeing various Xbox 360 games that I'd completely forgotten about! And as a random aftertouch, here's how to setup your blog with Blogger (Part of the interiew).Okay. Setting up a blog is easy as pie! Go to Blogger.com and click the bright orange button which says ?Create A Blog?. E-mail - (In this case it's...) BBCDude@gmail.com Confirm Password - EDITED Display name - (Life Through A Microphone Presenter) Eamonn ...

December 13 - RIAA & Kids
2006-12-14 03:59:01
This is one for my friends, who are forever downloading illegal music (Jonathan, you listening?) - But if faced with a situation like this, I doubt that any of them would be quite this smart. However, this kid does the right thing.Look... I didn't say 'honest', but I did say 'right'. Heck, in today's society, I'll probably be expecting a 'Cease & Desist' letter from them any day now.

December 12 - Skype Podcasts
2006-12-14 03:59:01
I must admit that last time I attempted to record a conversation with somebody over Skype , we had a handful of problems. Loss of connections, irritating, unexplained clicking sounds, and a whole host of other annoying nigglies which we didn't experience when not on 'Record Mode'. However, it did eventually work.Bob and Sam had an entirely different situation though. At least the recording was audible! Even after that, I trawled through it for an hour, writing a transcript. Only if I'd had Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 then. Hopefully it will arrive by Christmas. I won it at TheBlogJoint.com - A site I blog for. VLAD ROCKS! And now that he's a 9rules member, well... The status speaks for itself!

December 10 - Thinking Putty
2006-12-13 15:58:12
If the $1140/£570 Cyberman helmet was a bit too much, then perhaps this new 'Think ing Putty ' will be more up your street. Rather random, it provides hours of pointless fun, certain to raise smiles on the faces of even the most mediocre amongst you. Aside from the magical elemental powers it has, it possesses a magical, addictive power too! Best of all, you can now get from my Firebox! Thinking Putty's unique properties mean it doesn't react quite like any other substance known to man. Thinking Putty will bounce, but with enough force it will also shatter. Thinking Putty will stretch, but you can also tear it. Thinking Putty can even be made to snap. As David Coleman used to say, "Quite remarkable". Thinking Putty is completely unique and now, thanks to Firebox, you can own a tin packed with around 90g of the stuff, ready to put to work for whatever cause you see fit. Remember: there's very little that can't be achieved with a tin of Thinking Putty and the bare minimum of eff...

December 10 - Free PS3 & Wii
2006-12-13 15:58:12
My good ol' friend Colbert wrote a post at his blog over at TheSMSGuide, about how if you live in the USA, there's still plenty of time for you to grab your very own next-gen console, free of charge! I?d like to get my hands on the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii , but I cant. Coz I dont live in the USA. Darn! Some high-profile giveaway offers from the likes of GameFly and Comedy Central are already finished, but there are dozens more still active and waiting to be won. Come across any contests we missed?

December 11 - Making Money On The Net
2006-12-13 15:58:12
I originally wrote this post for Profy.com, but I've decided I'll be changing it, and writing a more in-depth and straight to the point guide. I suppose this can only be good for you! Well, here it is...Maki ng cash blogging sounds like the dream job, but in reality, it's alot harder than one might think. You read wonder stories of how working from home changed someone's life. But in reality, it didn't just happen over night. That's the problem with reality. It's harsh. If you really want to earn some big bucks blogging though, you've come to the right place. Over a several part mini-series, I'll be showing you exactly how to make tonnes of cash using your blog.Like I said, it won't be instant. It will take time. It will require effort. But by the end of the course, I hope to have brought you one step closer to earning a substantial income from home, by solely blogging. Today's lesson will be an introduction to the basics of monetized blogging, the different marketing mode...

December 11 - Technorati Review
2006-12-13 15:58:12
This post actually was written on Profy by me...Is it possible to have a blog and have no idea on what Tech no rati is? I doubt it. Technorati , one of the fastest growing websites on the net, allows you, in short, to see what others are saying about your blog, who they are, where they link to you and what they think. It shows a quick brief of what people on the net are searching for and what topics are hot in the blogosphere. Technorati searches the blogosphere regularly, showing the most recent posts and links on the website. Read more...

December 11 - Pixelotto
2006-12-13 15:58:12
Another Profy post... I've been busy this past week. The Million Dollar Homepage, created by Alex Tew, the student who made a million, has now embarked on his latest project. Pixel otto. However, after the success of The Million Dollar Homepage, many have been quick to heavily criticize Tew?s latest venture, including TechCrunch, who have called the idea ?stupid?. I wouldn?t go for that, but actually think that now, after it?s been running a week or so, will do very, very well! Read more...

December 10 - Cybermen Helmets
2006-12-13 15:58:12
Firebox has announced their latest addition, a spiffy Cyber man helmet! Much as we love the Daleks they've got one major deficiency: they don't wear helmets. (Well they do, but plungers on pudding bowls don't count). And as every sci-fi nut knows, any baddie worth his bio-matter vaporiser needs a mean-looking lid. Just ask Darth Vader, Boba Fett (Both Star Wars) and the Cylons (Battle Star Galactia - My Personal Favorite). But when it comes to iconic headgear, nothing beats the spectacularly cool helmets worn by the new breed of Cybermen. Designed to replace the tinfoil tat worn by previous incarnations of the cybernetically augmented nasties, these stunning 2006 redesigns have an ominous, art deco look about them, giving a whole new generation of Dr Who fans cause to scarper behind the sofa. And now, thanks to Firebox, you can own an officially licensed replica without taking the Tardis to Mondas. Lovingly crafted by the exact same team behind the menacing metallic monsters seen...

December 9 - Halo 3 TV Advert
2006-12-13 15:58:12
Well, in New-Zealand, a new Halo 3 TV advert has just started screening. Check it out! Rather impressive stuff in my opinion. As a lifelong Halo fan, I'm always looking around for spiffy fan bonuses and stuff. I find the whole 'helmet off' aspect rather interesting though. Will Master Chief's face be revealed in Halo 3 ? Who knows. I'm doubting it though.

World Breaking News - Blogger Beta Done!
2006-12-13 15:58:12
My suspicions have been confirmed! Just seconds ago, I received notification that blogger, all of blogger, is now being upgraded! Blogger beta is no more! It's done now, for real! I'm signing up with my Google Account as soon as I wake up tomorrow! I can't wait for this... Having a team blog, I wasn't eligible for it previously, but now it's proper. Blogger is out of beta!UPDATE: It appears that overnight, Blogger has removed me access to the beta. That sucks... O_O

December 8 - Yourmini's Major Update
2006-12-13 15:58:12
Extremely popular Web 2.0 portal, Your minis, has just re-launched with added features! Check it! Goowy Media, the company behind the popular personalized start page Yourminis, has recently implemented some major changes to the portal. We have already written about Yourminis at Profy and even interviewed Goowy Media co-founder and CEO Alex Bard. Basically, Yourminis offers you your personalized webpage that lets you view the top digg articles, your stocks, featured YouTube videos, in-portal Google search and more. So what?s new? Well, it?s all quite amazing really! Some truly spectacular additions make the already superb service one step better. Various new minis have been added to the website, including storage on box.net to easily access your online hosted files, a really smart new, in-built mini browser for light web browsing on the go, a public pages community, and, of course some updates to existing minis. One of these smaller updates is including Profy blog in the Web 2.0 defau...

Site News - BBC Interview. Again!
2006-12-13 15:58:12
So it appears, that that nice lady called Helen, did indeed mean it when she invited me back to the BBC sometime, for BBC Radio Manchester. I've just got notification from my school, that the head-teacher will be more than happy to write me a letter, excusing me from school on Thursday morning, when the interview is due to take place. What will I be doing?Aside from doing my best not to slip up, go 'Errr...' to many times, or cough down the microphone, I'm due to be teaching one of the people from BBC Radio Manchester, exactly how to set up a blog, easily online. To do this, I'll be using blogger. At least, I presume so... I just hope he has a Google Account! If not, I can always use my own... and with any luck, I'll be able to include a trackback to my own website, henceforth increasing my Technorati ranking! See - I'm clever! =PWhatever the outcome, I'll have done my best. If you'd like to contact me, or would like to tell me I've won a big prize, or if you want to add me ...

2006-12-13 15:58:12
Nintendo Wii fanboys and hackers alike have been busy this week, with a plethora of unusual goings on having been sighted. As you can see there, Half-Life 2 Being Played on a PC, using a Wiimote! Sweet stuff! And if the previous video wasn't cool enough, a wicked 1.5-inch TV is determined to rule the roost, after being hooked up to a Wii. A costly experience nevertheless!

2006-12-13 15:58:12
I told you I'd been busy... We have all grown to believe after many people saying so before, that community and user generated content is the king, and evidently the start of the treacherous path forward. But what on earth were Brea k thinking, when they announced that they?d pay up to $2,000 for a short video clip? The site, formerly Big-Boys, is indeed offering to pay users incredible sums of money, just to upload simple shorts. No experience needed! Read more...

December 11 - The Future Of The Net
2006-12-13 15:58:12
During my trip to the BBC last Wednesday, a question I was asked, was what the future of the net was. Your answer?Me being the old guy, and the two kids being Bill Gates' great-grandchildren. Hmmm... Clearly the Gates fortune was allocated elsewhere. And while you're here, be listening out for me at 2AM, GMT! If you can't be bothered, simply stream it from the BBC Radio Five Live website. All that said, I was given a chance to listen to the recording today. Truth be told, I sound like a complete goof!

December 4 - TechCrunch Shun Yahoo
2006-12-05 03:55:04
I'm a blogging addict... And I wrote a post that got published today that I really wanted to share. You can see a reader of my blog, Erik, (Also known as the former head of Yahoo ! Entertainment) shunning his old company, along with a whole bunch of other well known faces. Read the full article! Yahoo! is losing its way, claim many top names in the land of Web 2.0 according to Michael Arrington, from widely acclaimed blog, Tech Crunch . The claim came after Yahoo! TV relaunched, just the other day. I reported on it for Profy and many people (inlcuding an angry commenter on Profy) had things to say about the new revamped service, which weren?t all smiles! The former head of Yahoo Entertainment, Mr Erick Schwartz even put his foot into the fray, writing on the Yahoo Yodel blog, also suggesting that the company had lost its way. Read more...

December 4 - Google MySpace
2006-12-05 03:55:04
Am I the only one to have noticed Googl e 's over increasing grasp over the world of web 2.0 has now finally expanded, reaching as far as MySpace ? I've posted the first paragraph of an in-depth article I wrote at Profy. Check it out! Not that long ago I wrote a post about several changes that were going on at MySpace. Apparently, the Google search bit of my post turned out to be correct, with the website now completely Googlized in the search area. With the $900 million search advertising deal now coming into effect, both sides are feeling the profits roll in. Read more...

Erik Schwartz It was rather nice for me to watch all the new MyBlogLog users view my site last night. On member that caught my eye, was Erik Schwartz. Funnily enough, I'd written a post just yesterday also, mentioning the very guy! Except I wrote this on Profy. Anyhow, I won't deny seeing Erik view my blog was nice.Who the hell is Erik? He used to be Head Of Entertainment at Yahoo! - So you might appreciate my hype. He was the guy who helped kick of massively popular Yahoo! Games. So yeah, nice to see that the guy read my blog! December 4 - Harsh Reailty
2006-12-04 21:54:14
The Internet and blogging is evolving and expanding so much. I love it when I see that I get a trackback on one of my articles, and usual is thanks to a set group of sites which commonly give them. If w=one was to stop linking to my articles, I might feel something like this poor old dear...But this would be even worse. Infact, I think that if this were to happen, I'd bury my head in a sand pile. NOOOOO! NOOOOO! NOT THE DREADED DIAL-UP! I choose the ice-picks. Torture 2.0 in all it's gruesomeness. My point? Reality is harsh, and sometimes difficult to deal with. Infact, that reminds me of a dilbert comic strip I saw a while ago... I'm going to go find that right now. =DOkay. =( I can't find it. But it just goes to show, reality is harsh. Any of you guys going to send me the link?

December 4 - Hack-a-dad
2006-12-04 21:54:14
Looking for that Dilbert comic strip, I did find a number of funny comics, and a few blogs a long the way. In the end, I was directed back to bLaugh, where I began digging through their archives, I found an old long lost favourite in there. I admit it, it had completely slipped my mind to post it in the first place, but it's nice when big websites make us kids out to be super evil geniuses. One thing that does stand true though, is that the next-generation is eager to make profits and I find that often, bribery is one of the best ways to go about doing so.But of course if all else fails, we know how easy Swiss Banks are easy to hack. ;)

December 3 - iPod Charger Outsells Zune
2006-12-04 09:54:21
Okay... This proves it. The iPod Charge r has outsold the Microsoft Zune . Utterly ridiculous. Maybe this will put a sock in Mr Gates' overlarge gloating mouth? Sourced from Cult Of Mac.The fact that a charger can outsell a suposed 'iPod killer', kinda just kills the iPod killer. Sorry guys! If an accessory can outsell your main hope, then, it's hardly got a chance against the real thing.
