MP3 Radio Alarm Clock
2008-06-06 16:48:00
MP3 Radio Alarm Clock Alarm clocks with built-in FM radio and MP3 playback are pretty common these days, and this one adds to the growing number by coming in a square form factor. It features an SD/MMC memory card slot at the back along with a USB 2.0 port, allowing you to darg and drop all your favorite tunes inside - at least until the 1GB of internal memory is filled to the brim. The MP3 Radio Alarm Clock also has the all-important snooze alarm for folks like me who find it absolutely impossible to wake up in the morning with just a single alarm ring. Unfortunately, this will only come in just one color - white, and retails for $45 a pop. I wonder if the plastic will turn yellow in a few years' time just like many other white colored gizmos I own. iHome Announces Computer Speakers , iH69 and iH70, with Built-in Dock So I recently conceded and bought a desk for my bedroom. With in a matter of weeks my table top was cluttered with papers, gadgets, computer speakers and needless to say the dock for my iPhone. Yes, minimizing clutter is a bid deal to me and hence why iHome’s newest product, the iH69s and IH70s would be a sweet addition. But unfortunately, they aren’t built for true iPhone use - they’re actually built for any docking iPods - as they probably aren’t shielded like the Altec Lansing T612. iHome has included their patented Reson8 speaker chambers (to give it bass) and have also included a remote, computer port (USB?), a sync switch, headphone jack and volume controls. The iHome iH69 and iH70 are available for pre-order for $99.99 and $129.99 respectively and will hit retail outlets ’soon’.If you think I skimped on the details, check the press release after the ‘leap’(Via Gadget Review.)

USB Dock Accepts Hard Drives, Memory Cards, Everything
2008-05-28 17:40:00
USB Dock Accepts Hard Drives, Memory Cards , EverythingWhen we brought news of the Stage Rack, a dock for raw SATA hard drives, you were pleased. But where the Stage Rack only offered only a lone USB connection and compatibility with 2.5' and 3.5' SATA drives, Brando's take on the same concept is a lot more accommodating, and costs only a few bucks more.As well as being able to slot a bare hard drive straight in, the Multi-Function Dock is also a four slot card reader (for just about any format going) and a two-port USB hub. It even has an eSATA-out port, so you could wire this directly into the nervous system of your computer, or maybe the back of your own brain. In common with the Stage Rack, the dock requires you to pay a ridiculous $25 shipping charge, bring the price up to $80. But for its utility, and for the fact that this will de-clutter your embarrassingly messy desk, it might be worth it.(Via Gadget Lab.)

MemUp reveals new line of portable media players

MemUp reveals new line of portable media playersGiven MemUp's recent past, we wouldn't be too shocked to find that the outfit's latest bundle of media players were all rips of other units, but we'll assume innocence until proven guilty. Up first is the K-SLIM, a simplistic DAP with a 1.8-inch display, FM tuner and 2GB / 4GB of internal capacity. Moving on, we've got the all-too-similar K-TOUCH, which gently ups the ante with a 2-inch touchscreen and 4/8/16GB of space. The V-TOUCH gets oriented horizontally and boasts a 2.4-inch panel, while the M430 TR PMP arrives with 4.3-inches of screen real estate. Lastly, we've got the M430 DTV, which obviously trumps the latter with its integrated TV tuner. Hit the read link for more details on the whole lot, and don't be surprised if you notice any similarities in design.(Via Engadget.)

Nokia E66 and E71 getting dressed backstage for grand entrance

Nokia E66 and E71 getting dressed backstage for grand entranceWe'd always prefer an actual announcement to a mere teaser, and in the case of the E66 and E71, we've seen these things exposed so many times in so many ways now that we're actually starting to think that we might know more about the business-class hotties than Nokia itself. Here's the latest scoop: Mobile Phone Helpdesk has gone ahead and locked down press shots of both devices, adding a little more glitz and glamor to the pair than the typical prerelease in-the-wild shots afford. We're seriously not sure what Nokia's waiting for here, but we think it'd be well served to push 'em out ahead of the Touch Diamond and 3G iPhone rushes.(Via Engadget Mobile.)

OtterBox iPhone Defender Review
2008-05-28 00:08:00
OtterBox iPhone Defender Review Most iPhone cases are more about style than protection, which is fine if you don’t mind busting your iPhone the first time you drop it. OtterBox puts protection first with the iPhone Defender and it’s the only iPhone case I recommend if you’re a clutz or keeping your iPhone in pristine condition is important to you.I bought an iPhone the day Apple’s first phone launched and have gone through a half-dozen cases so far and have played with many, many more.So what makes the iPhone Defender different? OtterBox designs cases primarily to protect gadgets, putting function before form.Instead of relying on one method of protection, it has three. The iPhone Defender consists of a two-part Polycarbonate shell, a clear Polycarbonate membrane and a silicon skin. A belt holster is also included. All of this material wraps the iPhone in a cocoon that can stand up to the elements.Check out this Video of the iPhone Defender from OtterBoxThe clear membrane is...

Pentax kicks out the waterproof Optio W60Pentax has been cranking out waterproof Optio point-and-shoots for a while now, and the company's latest, the W60, doesn't really break from the company's successful basic formula. The 10 megapixel shooter packs a 2.5-inch LCD, 5x optical zoom that doesn't ever extend out from the main camera body, 720p movie mode, ISO 6400 sensitivity and face, smile, and blink detection. Oh, and it works in depths up to 13 feet in temperatures of just 14 degrees Fahrenheit, and is JIS Class 5 certified against dust and sand. You know, just in case. Should be out in July for $329 in both blue and silver.(Via Engadget.)

Pasen F13 PMP Plays DivX, Xvid

Pasen F13 PMP Plays DivX, Xvid The last Pasen player we’ve heard was the F10 and it plays DivX and Xvid. The new F13 is a brick-like 15mm 11mm, which makes us scratch our heads. There’s nothing truly interesting about the F13. With 3 inches of (400 x 240 pixels) screen real estate, some people wouldn’t mind the extra 8mm. You can play AVI, DIVX, XVID directly, which is priceless. It also supports these video and audio files: RM, RMVB, FLV, DAT, ASF, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MPG, MP3, WMA, WMA / VBR, APE, FLAC, AAC, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TXT. It also plays games and has SD / SDHC, 8EQ, an FM tuner, and a microphone.Note: this post was written yesterday before we had some Wordpress problems. Sorry.(Via PMP Today.)

K-Touch's 8 megapixel C280 cameraphone flaunts Canon image processing

K-Touch's 8 megapixel C280 cameraphone flaunts Canon image processingRemember when Samsung was pumping out cameraphones with increasingly ridiculous megapixel counts? At the moment, phones top-out at about 5 megapixels. Until this, the 8 megapixel C280 with 3x optical zoom and claimed 1600 ISO support (right) from the previously unheard of K-Touch. Ironically, it might very well be using a CMOS sensor from Samsung. Perhaps more interesting though is the fact that it'll be using Canon's own DIGIC III image processing when it hits the Chinese market.(Via Engadget.)

Review: Myvu Crystal video eyewear for iPod
2008-05-28 00:05:00
Review: Myvu Crystal video eyewear for iPod You know what? If I were to buy a television for the sole purpose of playing video games and I didn’t expect any friends to ever drop by (no two-player action), I might just consider picking up a pair of video glasses like these instead.OverviewI had a chance to try out the Myvu Crystal ‘video eyewear’ recently and boy, what a difference does a little double-resolution make. While most video eyewear systems on the market clock in at 320x240 pixels, the Crystal manages to cram 640x480 into a package that you might even be able to get away with wearing in public, say, on an overnight flight or another type of event where most people around you are asleep. These glasses are getting smaller and more normal-looking, is what I’m saying. Some technical details, straight from Myvu:Introducing Myvu Crystal: watch what you love, when you want and look great doing it. Featuring SolidOptex® — the Myvu patented optical system — Crystal tran...
