Sanyo's Superbright PLC-ET30L projector actually is really bright
2008-04-15 21:20:00
Sanyo's Superbright PLC-ET30L projector actually is really bright Presumably ensuring that no one views Sanyo as hypocritical, the company's Superbright PLC-ET30L actually can throw up a fairly recognizable image even in a well-lit room. Featuring an SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) resolution, a 1,300:1 contrast ratio and a remarkably high 4,200 ANSI lumen rating, this PJ was undoubtedly designed to function in classrooms and boardrooms (or living rooms) that just can't avoid ambient light. Additionally, Sanyo's introducing the lower-spec'd PLC-XT21/L, which offers up an XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution, 1:000:1 contrast ratio and 4,000 ANSI lumens. Both newcomers to the T series line support wired networking and emit just 35dB of fan noise, but being priced at $6,495 and $4,995 (respectively), the duo is most definitely cut out for the corporate card and not your own.(Via Engadget.)

Mio Moov 200 review
2008-04-14 20:13:00
Mio Moov 200 reviewMio’s new lineup ‘Moov’ was recently announced and now we have a review for Mio Moov 200.The new Moov devices run on an in-house navigation software developed by using Navman technology, a GPS company Mio bought out last year. As a result, user interface on Mio devices has changed quite a bit. Although the reviewer likes some of the differences, such as Moov’s text-to-speech conversion, multi-segment routing, and multiple language support, it looks like Mio has taken a step backward when it comes to presenting POIs. Like Mio’s previous entry-level product, the DigiWalker C220, the Moov 200 features a 3.5-million-entry POI database, but the way it handles POIs is disappointing. You can search for POIs by name or by city/area, or search for nearby POIs by category (parks, restaurants, and such). By contrast, all three of the DigiWalker devices offer more search choices, so it’s easier to find your POI. Additionally, when you search by name with the Moov ...

Fukato's Eee-ish Datacask enters your life in MayLike the Eee? If you're enthusiastically shaking your head in the affirmative, perhaps you'll want to check out Fukato's low-cost Datacask (cheery, right?). Like the Jisus before it, the computer-maker hopes to garner some of that cheapo laptop market with this black and white number, which sports an 8-inch, 800 x 480 display, a 500MHz AMD Geode CPU, a 20GB 60GB hard drive, 512MB of RAM, and a (surprise!) LG T80 Touchscreen DVB PMP
2008-04-14 20:09:00
LG T80 Touchscreen DVB PMPThe T80 does not look much better than LG’s previous PMP models and I wonder if this wasn’t a deliberate attempt to not look like the iPod Touch. We have to remember that this is the manufacturer of the Prada phone we’re talking about and if there’s a manufacturer out there that has every right to ‘clone’ iPhone or iPod Touch, it’s LG.Anyway, the LG T80 boasts a 3-inch 420 × 240-pixel touchscreen with 260k colors with MPEG, MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, ASF, JPEG, TXT support, and FM tuner, a Mic and a DVB-T (TNT) tuner. It plays 5.5 hours of video and 2 hours of TV viewing. It’s priced at 299 euros.(Via PMP Today.)
Eks Otus USB DJ Controller Puts a New Spin on Some Old Ideas
2008-04-14 20:08:00
Eks Otus USB DJ Controller Puts a New Spin on Some Old Ideas Besides having an odd name - what exactly is an Otus, anyway - the new Eks Otus also has an odd mix between traditional and new generation DJ features. The Otus is a USB DJ controller (i.e., a piece of hardware meant to simulate the actions normally performed by a turntable), built almost entirely of aluminum and complete with ASIO and MIDI drivers, carefully placed LEDs, reprogrammable buttons, and a customizable unit surface and feet. What should make the Otus appeal to the traditionally-minded is the controller's design - it's meant to fit in a standard DJing desk - and the 7.5 inch jog wheel, which makes the Otus look exactly like a heavily-featured turntable and should ease the mind of the digitally skittish. For the forward-thinking tech heads, the Otus includes a multi-channel sound processor allows for effect layering: enable an effect on one channel, press a button, and you can enable a second effect from anywh...
BlueAnt Supertooth 3
2008-04-14 20:07:00
BlueAnt Supertooth 3Hmm, looks as though 3 months down the road and the Supertooth 3 has not yet been released, despite a targeted March 2008 release date and a recommended retail price of $119. The Supertooth 3 was paraded again by BlueAnt at CTIA Wireless, so here are the dimensions which we missed out on earlier this year. The Supertooth 3 measures 18mm x 60mm x 122mm and comes with an estimated 15 hour talk time, although I would take that figure with a pinch of salt. Still, it sounds like a pretty capable device to have in any car. (Via UberGizmo, the Gadgets News Blog.)

Sony's Alpha A350 DSLR gets reviewed
2008-04-12 18:01:00
Sony's Alpha A350 DSLR gets reviewedFor some, tossing around phrases like 'live preview' and 'flip-out swivel screen' would be enough to sell Sony's Alpha A350, but we know you're more discerning than that, right? Right. Truth be told, Sony's feature-packed Alpha only turned out okay -- not great -- during a review session with the folks over at CNET. Still, the unit did offer a sturdy feel, a fantastically useful LCD monitor and satisfactory color / dynamic range. Unfortunately, the extra $200 or so you pay for 14-megapixels (over 10MP on the A300) wasn't deemed worthwhile, as the extra processing 'exacted a performance toll' in real-world use. The bottom line? These critics felt the Rebel XSi would be a better bet if you're just looking for a nice resolution bump, but for the vast majority of folks, you're likely better off snagging the A300 and putting your leftover dough towards a decent piece of glass.(Via Engadget.)

Nintendo DS 2 to be unveiled at E3 2008 ? Hirokazu Hamamura the head of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu's parent company is predicting that Nintendo will unveil the next-generation DS at E3 2008 this summer. So why are we positive on this rumor? Well it is not made by some anonymous and self proclamatory Nintendo employee but by a businessman who heads Famitsu the leading gaming mag in Japan. Hirokazu has not commented on the hardware or cost. So how would you like to change the Nintendo DS? I am a proud owner of a DS Lite since quite some time and here is my wishlist for the DS 2. 1) Bigger screens2) Powerful speakers3) A mobile phone attachment. Gadgetell Review: Plantronics Calisto Pro Series

Gadgetell Review : Plantronics Calisto Pro Series I have used my share of VoIP phones out there, so when Plantronics sent me the newish Calisto Pro Series, I didn’t have too high of expectations.' However I became impressed quickly with the great Bluetooth integration, among other features.' There are three ways you can talk on the phone (or Skype): speakerphone, on the handset, or on the included Bluetooth headset.' This amount of flexibility is a great thing to have when you’re in an office—or even at home—since you have the choice to go anywhere in your house.' So what if you want to sit in your living room, and the Bluetooth signal can’t make it that far?' Don’t worry, the headset is paired with the handset, so just bring the handset with you!Have I mentioned that the Calisto can also be used as your landline phone?' Well, it sure can.' The device has seemless integration with both Skype (and your computer) and your landline connection.' So if you’re talking ...

Billion BiPAC 7402GX router manages both HSDPA and ADSL connectionsRouter and gateway specialists Billion have launched their 3G broadband router, the BiPAC 7402GX, which features compatibility not only with ADSL2+ for wired broadband but a USB port for external 3G HSDPA modems.  Moreover, the 7402GX is capable of managing both connections simultaneously, using the cellular link as a backup should the landline connection fail; alternatively, it could be used to provide ad-hoc connectivity to multiple users when in hotels or otherwise travelling (as long as there’s a cellphone signal and a mains power supply).Featuring a four-port 10/100 switch, WiFi b/g, firewall and VPN functionality, the 7402GX will work with 3G/HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS or even basic GSM dial-up connections, although I wouldn’t want to be sharing one of the slower options from that list with many other people.Dual WAN interfaces for ADSL2+ and 3G connectionsAuto fail-over feature to ensure an always-on conne...
