Since the bug tracking isn't really open for its users (something even Tim Altman from Opera Software admits), so some fans created a Opera 9 .5 Beta Other Known Issues Wikia.They write:"The purpose of this temporary wiki is to supplement the rather modest list of Known Issues included in the original posts on the Opera Desktop Team Blog and create a one-stop place to look to see if "your" problem has been confirmed by anyone. You know, some day I had this "error number 2738" error when trying to update to QuickTime 7.3.I did the mistake to do what everything else will do at first; Google for the solution.You will find "solutions" like registering .dll files, renaming folders, deleting folders, re-download .MSI files, links to FAQs, reinstall Windows and whatnot!And no support I came accross yet ever managed to be able to actually tell what error "xyz" in an installer means. I mean if it would say "file missing" or whatnot, it would at least be helpful. But error numbers without references to what they mean or "unexspected error while installation" doesn't help a bit!All I got from Apple is a letter in my letterbox a few weeks ago telling me: "We don't support this product (QuickTime)"The solution is easier than any registry hack! Download and use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. It will just remove all references to the sourse .MSI file so it no longer will be missed when you try to reinstall or upda...

I am very often complain about bad customer support.Now I want to point out 2 companies/devisions that are doing better than all the others.Axle3D and MSI's Taiwan HQ.Usually, the main problem is that I have questions arising that require a certain background of knowledge or involvement of the technical support deparment involved.Unfortunately, many devisions of the MSI support are either:-lacking of knowledge-slow-proving wrong information-giving up helping you and stop replying to you.The manuals of my current motherboard had so many errors and the BIOS was so much bugged that I was just on my wits' end. Today, Microsoft invited me to have a look at the Microsoft Download Center Beta Preview and I have to admit, it's looking great! Here are some screenshots. The ICQ Team recently released a new ICQ 6! Build ##6039 and many new localized clients. Thanks to my friend Martin for pointing it out.The new build features new - animated - emoticons and features some bug fixes like the bug that made people using Windows XP Service Pack 2 not being able to see that that has been copied and pasted!Unfortunately, I cannot tell more for now, since the installer has some bug, it keeps crashing on me. Windows Vista (X64) - good or bad - one year passed

One year of Vista has passed. I have found 2 interesting posts. One saying that it sucks very much, another one saying that it is the best way to get MacOS-like experience for little money.My catch? Windows Vista is really fun to use, even with only 1 GB of RAM and single core AMD64 3200+ CPU, however I cannot wait for the new multi-core CPU and a better system with 4 GB of RAM. This thing should rock the sky then. Anyway, Vista worked since the final (Use it since February) pretty well for me even with out any updated.I have however to admit that the Performance and Reliability Packs have made it smoother and more applications work better with each new release.The most I am disappointed about HardSID not releasing 64bit drivers and Leadtek not convincing the sound chip manufacturer of the PAL version of the LeadTek TVUSB 2 card to supply the source so they make a 64bit XP/Vista driver.Bad!I seldom saw any BSOD and I seldom had any serious issues and it's cool that you can access s...

I absolutely *love* my recent gadget purchase. the USB - Cup Warmer & 4 Port Hub!I just missed the stainless steel cups yet which I just received yesterday. It's absolutely amazing! I have decided to not get the "Thermaltake Soprano", this Christmas (this is the one I already have, but I wanted it in black this time.But then I found out I need something cheaper but it's anyway not in any way less cool: the Enermax Vostok which is about 30 ? cheaper and has some nice stuff like a side with AirDuct on it for passive cooling. Also the front USB and audio are not behind a cover but easily accessable from the front. The above picture is from their download area for pics of this product. The Vostok is screwless just like the Soprano but it also has a motherboard tray which the Soprano doesn't.The mirror-like front will be interesting :)Ignore also the "Comming Soon!" as this beast is out in the shelves now, man, I am so excited! The sadly famous newsletter language problem of Skype is also happening to MySpace now, so they are doing exactly the same mistakes! I have selected the language "English" in my MySpace settings, however I received the new MySpace Newsletter in German instead of English!Some people even reported that they received it eventhough they are no members.Let's hope MySpace will do something about both soon! I would have rather want to read the English one instead of some German translation.Also as you can see on above link they did a newsletter in September 2007, however I never received one. My blog no longer uses Technorati for the categorization of my blog posts.I have replaced the search engine from Technorati's search (which got messed up and they probably would rather die than fixing it) with the way better working Blog ger search engine. Apart from the "ICQ" categories, the search results are displayed and compiled in the same window on the fly. (Pretty much like using labels).A quick test of all categories turned out that they display fine - if you notice any disturbances or something you don't like, please let me know.Technorati has something in common with Orkut: blind like a mole, and speedy like a snail. A good portion of emails are ignored and never replied to or they simply cannot help you. In rare cases, when they are good mooded or have a very exceptional bright day, they might get back to you and actually try and successfuly help you (whoo-hoo!). Anyway, I am done with Technorati forever and ever.Swicki is a lot nicer as Ed - the Pisstaker already found...

Microsoft even released more updates!The weird thing about this is the Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 which is an update to the also released Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista .Windows Update displays it as a critical update and once it has been downloaded and installed, Windows Update says "Some updates were not installed. Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is an old thing (and Vista comes with 3.0 included) however some programs and plugins still require it like e.g. the Quelle MCE plugin (which however stucks while installing and so doesn't work on Vista).Maybe this is the reason why Microsoft decided to "release" the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 also for Vista (i.e. it is the same one from 2004 but it never appeared when you ran Windows Update, except since today!Furthermore Microsoft released the long promised remaining 18 language packs and also a few hotfixes for all X64 Windows versions (XP, 2003 Sever and Vista X64!).Recently, they also released a fix to the problem that Excel 2007 can't calculate.So a lot of updates to install for Vista and 64bit lovers, so enjoy! :)Technorati Tags: 64bit, Vista, Windows, VNC, Office , X64, XP, 2007----Wanna discuss this post? Am I the only one who screams "Hooray, there it is again!" when he realizes old bugs from Windows XP are back in Windows Vista ?One I remember very well is the disappearing drives in Windows after installing certain CD-ROM tools.And thanks to Bob we know that the solution also works in Windows Vista solution:He writes:"Message:This fix worked for me on Vista 64. Skype is lately under attack again. Just recently, a worm affected Skype for Windows users and now a Skype Extra which claims to be a security tool tries to steal password (login) data. Villu Arak writes in Skype Heartbeat:"404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe is classified as an Infostealer, that is, a Trojan horse program that attempts to steal sensitive information such as login credentials. When executed it displays a confirmation window with the following text, ?Skype-Defender(TM) Installed! Please login to your account to apply new plugins?.
