another product review: Edge-Core WM4201 Wi-Fi Skype phone

The interesting thing about Skype wi-fi phones is, that they are more or less the same. The hardware and software just gets a bit modified, but the general attributes are the same..However the differences that are there are very important to point out. I am speaking here about firmware quality, firware updates, customer support, keypad quality, headset jack, runnning time, voice quality, echos while calls, display quality. Support of charging cradles, manual, etc.However this review about the Edge-Core WM4201 Wi-Fi Skype phone doesn't tell any of those major differences to us. Even Ike's review is way better.It eventually appears that the phone is broken, maybe she should have gotten a replacement and completing the review. Anyway, seems it's good enough for Skype-News.comSkype-News.com are very weird anyway! The release of Skype wi-fi phones doesn't stop!Now Edge Core also released one. Granted, I am not so keen on TV series and movies, I am more the compute guy. However, there was that one TV series I used to love when I was a small little something. I remember being so fascinated about this awesome series! I couldn't remember its name, eventhough I kept thinking about it for years but recalling it was impossible - Recently however I have been bored on an amazing level and suddenly I managed its name - BUGS!In the moment, I wanted to check whether it's available on DVD. Because the Nabaztag makes problems when setting up the first time in Window s Vista , they soon release a video tutorial.Here a snippet out of 2 emails from them I received:"Nabaztag/tag is not a software. Real and free Vista X64 firewalls are rare, the more I am happy to write about the first real full freeware firewall for Windows Vista X64 firewall I know of. The firewall is still yet an alpha release and I have read the forum and some even had to reinstall Vista after using the firewall. Netscape 9.0b1 is out and they luckily fixed the bug of the erlier versions that destroyed you Vista (X64 in my case) firewall control!Netscape 9 is a lot faster and lighter than the earlier Netscape versions and performances so a lot better. It's also the first being called "Navigator" again and the first to even support Firefox plugins!It also allows to share sites with a friend on one click! Important: please read this post first as it contains important information regarding this post which is a continue.As we already know the drivers that work in Windows Vista X64 are very well hidden, I wounder what the reason for this is!Infact I found out today that the same drivers also work in Windows XP X64!Do not worry about the language of Epson Scan (driver & twain interface) you are about to download as all packages auto detect the language used and its setup routine will select the language to install which fits the most!So, get the driver & twain interface package (Epson Scan): Epson Scan (at date: 3.0u)Interesting though is, that the setup routine acts slightly different in Windows XP X64:It will run and ask you to select the scanner used. You won the scanner Epson Perfection 2480 Photo flatbet scanner (or it fell off a truck or whatsoever), and you are proud owner of the new Windows Vista X64, then you will have some troubles to get the twain driver for it.Why? Netgear WPN824v2 supported for Window s Vista , WPN824v1 not.The tricky thing here is, that the version 1 of the router is still widely spread and even sold as new without pointing out whether it's verison 1 or version 2. R.I.P my dear SPH101, which died a scary death of hardware failure and the unsuccessful try to recover it re-applying the firmware. (Which caused the phone to not boot up anymore after switching it on again).Luckily, Amazon took it back without a hassle (thanks!) and transfered my money back.For this I bought the Belkin Skype wi-fi phone which hears on the gay name "F1PP000GN-SK"!It is almost the same hardware like the WSKP100 from SMC except one supports Boingo and the other one Fon.At least my Belkin one seems to have still the echo issue a bit (but I am working on that with Belkin support now which seems to be very skilled and friendly and helpful (at least the one from Germany!). But even then I still can use a headset with it! Many asked which headset it supports! The one suppported is Sennheiser MM30.So the SPH101 category is dead now! There are quite some people who experience ICQ 6 being slow, or Flash being slow and having breaks and whatnot, and Adobe even released a new version as written on the ITsVista Blog.I am almost very sure that the problem is connected with the Windows Vista X64 drivers, RealTek released and which are also downloaded and installed from Microsoft Update once you run it on a fresh Windows Vista X64 installation.By the history of this driver, you can follow definate changes in behaviour of your Vista installation once you run certain stuff playing sound.Yet the RealTek drivers (on-board sound) seem to cause the following problems:-MIDI files shudder, have breaks and do not play fluently in most situations-Flash causes 100% CPU load in Opera, 88%-90% CPU load in IE7 (thanks to the new update of Flash as mentioned above)-The driver/app component of the Logitech QuickCam software cause 100% CPU load when speaking into the micrphone while speaking in Skype (before the latest cam software, it...
