Poor Man's Apple TV
2008-01-21 08:00:00 This is a very cool mod. It is not really like the Apple TV at all, but it is cool nonetheless. Someone thought it would be cool to increase the size of the small iPod Nano screen, so that it would be easier to watch. To do so, he modified an old slide viewer to fit his Nano in it. By doing so, the video playing would be enlarged to fit the viewers screen, and viola, you have a larger screen for easy viewing. It looks fairly simple to do, but the screen itself is fairly large. Very cool though, one problem is that you have to set it so your movies play upside down, as the way you insert the iPod is upside down. Cloverfield Review
2008-01-21 07:38:00 So, I saw the much talked about movie Cloverfield today. Since I first saw the trailer for the then unnamed movie back in the Summer, I wanted to see this movie pretty badly. I mean, how can you not want to see a movie with a trailer that just shows something hitting a building and people screaming? Well, first off, the movies is not really what I expected. The whole basis is very vague, no information is given to you, at all. The movie starts out with the main character Rob filming in an apartment. At first, the whole "movie filmed like a home movie" thing seemed fine, but when you realize that the whole movie will be like this, it is kind of a dissapointment. Though, the filming style fits the movie perfectly. The premise is that these alien creatures land in Manhattan, NY, and start attacking the city. Resistance: Fall of Man Review
2008-01-19 08:08:00 Now that I have had this game for almost a month, I have decided to review it. For starters, I have decided to make my reviews more organized, and easier to read. So I will format them with separate sections: Story, Gameplay, Graphics/Sound, Replay Value, and Overall. Each category is pretty much self explanatory and will be scored out of 5, and in the Overall section I will say whether it is fun, and whether it would be a good buy, and add up the 4 categories, divide by 2, and give it a score out of 10. Now, on to the review.StoryI enjoyed the story very much. You are Nathan Hale, an American soldier fighting against the alien creatures called Chimera. The game is set in England, where the Chimera have infected many of the people there. You, and the English troops travel around England fighting off the Chimera. Next Gen Console Update #4

This is your monthly update on the sales of the Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3, and Microsoft Xbox 360 according to www.vgchartz.com. I realized that the other site, www.nexgenwars.com was innacurrate in their tallying. So here goes...Microsoft Xbox 360 - 16.48 Million Sold.Nintendo Wii - 19.94 Million Sold.Sony Playstation 3 - 9.22 Million Sold.As you can see, the Wii and 360 are nearly doubling the PS3 sales, but, with the new addition of the $399 40GB model, the PS3 is slowly catching up to what used to be a complete blowout. Now that Steve Jobs has done his keynote, there is a ton of new tings coming out of Apple. So here we go... New Wii Colors On The Way?
2008-01-15 07:11:00 This is somewhat interesting. Apparently on a Target reciept, the Wii's coming in stock have been labeled as "Wii White". I guess before it was just Wii, or Wii Console. I'm sure this is pure speculation, but it's been going around the internet that the defining a color on the reciept could mean that there are different colored Wii's on the way, as Nintendo had promised way before launch. Seems cool to me, I'm not a huge fan of blinding white products. Awesome Alienware Display
2008-01-14 08:13:00 This got a lot of attention at CES, and you can see why. Alienware , the high-end gaming PC maker, has created a TV like no other. For starters, it is huge, and extremely wide. The really cool thing about it though is that it is curved. It is almost like if you were in an Imax theater. Very cool, I hope some day I can get one... Rock Band Stage Kit?
2008-01-14 03:22:00 When I saw this I thought it was a joke. It is a little add-on for the music game Rock Band . The "Stage Kit" comes with lights and a smoke machine. I'm assuming this is for those people that are really into the game, and feel this is necessary, but honestly, who would spend $100 on this... And yes, it is $100 added onto the already expensive $170 Rock Band game. Whoever buys this, if anyone ever does, deserves to be stripped of a credit card. Guitar Hero 3 Kid
2008-01-13 08:01:00 This video has been gathering a lot of attention, and for a good reason. This 9 year old kid beat one of the hardest songs in Guitar Hero 3, and got a good score on it. I myself have beaten this song, as displayed in a previous post, but I have not done it as good as this kid. No question, he is very good, but I am pretty sure he has no life. Resistance 2 Revealed
2008-01-12 08:21:00 Perhaps the best shooter so far for the PS3, Resistance : Fall of Man, is getting a sequel. I am pumped about this, having almost beaten the first Resistance game, the second should be very good. For PS3 owners, this is their Halo 3. The feature set is unparalleled in any other console game to date. With up to 60 players online, 8 player co-operative play, and two entirely different, full campaigns, this game should be insane. If it is even a small bit better than the first, Resistance 2 looks to be one of the many killer PS3 games coming out this year. Macworld Rumors
2008-01-11 08:45:00 I am usually not a big Mac computer fan, but I have become fond of the iPod line of media players. In a week or so (I think) Apple will have it's big press show of the year. At Macworld , Steve Jobs usually announces the big thing that they have been working on and hope to release. I believe it is where he announced the iPhone, and we all know how that turned out. Supposedly this year is supposed to be big, but if it's about them making new computers, I could care less. There have been many rumors floating around the internet. There is the possibility of a new Apple TV, and hopefully there is one, because we all know how the first one did... Also the new, possibly 3G, iPhone has been mentioned by many people, and it is supposed to be released this year, but now word on when. Some new Macs may be announced as well, supposedly a new Mac Pro with beefier system specs will be availiable, as well as the rumor that super-lightweight Macbooks with ~12" screens may be announced. New Samsung Touch Screen Phone
2008-01-11 03:44:00 This intrigued me. Samsung , one of the leading sellers of cell phones in the world, is coming out with an all new Touch Screen phone for Sprint. The Samsung M800 will have a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G EV-DO capabilities. It does not say, but I would assume that it would also come with some kind of media playback functionalities. This phone looks very nice, with a large touch screen and what look like 3 touch sensitive buttons on the bottom of the device. The M800 is the US variant of a very similar phone currently in Europe I believe. This looks to be an iPhone killer hoeful, we'll just have to wait and see if it lives up to it's name. Portal: First Slice
2008-01-10 06:58:00 If you have been wanting to play the highly acclaimed game Portal , now is the best time. Valve is offering a little taste of Portal. If you own any nVidia card, you can now download the free Portal demo entitled "Portal: First Slice ". The demo comes with the first 4 levels of the full retail version. The game is very fun, and everyone should give it a try. Though, to get the demo you need to create a Steam account, which is fairly easy, and can be useful in the future as Steam gives you access to tons of downloadable games. Guitar Hero Turntable
2008-01-08 07:15:00 Now, I've seen multiple mods for the oh so popular Guitar Hero controller (as I have posted some before), but this one is probably one of the most original. This guy created a Guitar Hero Turntable in just a weekend. It sports the 5 colored buttons, the whammy bar, and what looks like an actual record holder thing. It is pretty cool, and very well done. What I liked was his vision of the device. He said, "I just wanted to represent hip-hop and put it out there and spread good vibes", which is very well put. Christmas Reviews: Unreal Tournament III
2008-01-07 03:24:00 The deathmatch king has returned in it's 3rd reincarnation. The Unreal Tournament franchise has been known for it's ultra fast paced, no mercy gameplay, and Unreal Tournament III is no different. There are both Single, and Multi-player modes, though if you have heard of Unreal Tournament at all you will know that it is basically a multiplayer game. The single-player side is more or less multi-player but with computer enemies, so there really isn't much difference aside from having to use the Internet to play against other people. I would guess the graphics could be great, but as I mentioned in my Call of Duty 4 review, I don't have that great of a PC. It can run the game, just not that well. But if you have any of the newer high-end graphics cards from ATI or nVidia, then you'll be fine. The map design is amazing, and genius. Warners Bros. Chooses Blu-Ray
2008-01-06 08:36:00 Some people are saying this could be the end of the seemingly neverending high definition format war. Warner Brothers has officially chosen Sony's Blu-Ray Disc as their HD format of choice. Soon you will be able to get all your favorite Warner titles on Blu-Ray, but not HD-DVD. The reasoning? Apparently Warner sees it as so many people do. If we wait any longer to finally decide on a format, it will never end. The confusion will only get greater as people ponder whether to buy HD-DVD, DVD, or Blu-Ray. Hopefully this will help find a side so this can finally end. I myself am rooting for Blu-Ray, seeing as I have a PS3. But in the end I don't really care right now.
