Do you like bacn?

What, I misspelled the word bacon? No, I didn’t, unless you’re referring to the crispy stuff you eat, usually with eggs. Curious about bacn now, right? I found out about bacn through Justine Ezarik. Bacn, for some reason isn’t spelled correctly. Kind of stupid, but oh well. Anyway, this isn’t about the spelling, it’s about what it is! Bacn is the stuff we receive in e-mails, messages, etc. that isn’t important, but isn’t junk either. I get a lot of bacn. Sometimes in the form of RSS feeds! I wouldn’t say I don’t like bacn, but when I don’t have time for it, I just want it to go away. MeeMix Widgets

As you probably know by now I love MeeMix. If I didn’t, I probably wouldn’t even mention it here. Anyway, this isn’t about MeeMix, it’s about MeeMix’s widgets! The widgets are big, but maybe they will consider some in smaller sizes with the current song, favorite station, etc. If they make a smaller one, I will include it in my sidebar. A 100×100 square will do! Anyway, my favorite widget is the one that displays the song that I’m listening to. It’s very pretty, too! Recently I was browsing through websites as I usually do. Once I came upon a very ugly flashy website, I didn’t even bothering reading what it had, I moved on. So, I thought I would list ten websites with the best designs and then ten with the worst designs. Any website not listed here does not mean it’s not the best or not the worst! New Design

First off, I apologize for all the changes I keep making here. The last one I had, I liked, but it was so hard to get used to one column, so I knew I had to change it or I would never be happy. The one I’m now using is by Kalina Web Design s and I really like this one because it allows for a lot of customization, especially with colors. I promise I will keep this one around! And, hopefully I can get around to finding time to customizing it even more.

I’m sure many of you have heard about the 300+ page iPhone bill that Justin e showed on video (see below). Well, she is becoming more and more popular every day. It’s very entertaining to watch her live. I promise you that you won’t be able to stop watching. It’s somewhat like watching reality shows, except its usually just Justine in front of the camera. She never really leaves her home, unless she’s shopping or getting a cup of coffee. If you watch her, you’ll probably never leave either unless you’re heading to a Starbucks with a laptop and Internet access. Here’s a screenshot of her while Pittsburgh ’s Channel 11 films her. With the first ever PPP Blog Battle Royale, I thought I would give it a try, since all Posties can join in on the challenge. It says to write about our ideal robot. If I was to create a robot for the company, iRobo t, it would be a winner with a lot of mothers who do loads and loads of laundry. Laundry can take quite a long time, even if you aren’t manually washing clothes yourself. My robot would be very popular, because there is none like it! This robot would be able to move around on its own and sniff out dirty clothes. Okay, that might sound a little disgusting, but it’s not supposed to be. What I mean by this is that it would be able to detect dirty clothes in that they were thrown in a pile on the floor or even in a hamper. Dirty clothes don’t smell clean do they? At least I hope not. Halloween Movie

I’m sure a lot of you have heard of this movie. If not, now you’ll find out. I saw the preview and after I saw the first scene, I was just scared of watching the rest. But, I knew I had to continue watching otherwise I’d wonder what the rest was about. This movie is written and directed by Rob Zombie himself. Yes, you heard me right. I’ve never listened to his music really, but I’ve heard a few here and there. It’s not my type of music, but I love scary movies! I know lots of people like his band’s music (White Zombie), so I’m sure Halloween , the movie will be a big hit and success. To me, Rob Zombie has always seemed scary to me. When he puts himself into this movie by writing and directing it, he’s going to make the audience feel scared, possibly so much they pee their pants, because he has always delivered scary to the audience. Coffee Table Aquarium

This is a coffee table that allows you to have fish inside. Weird, right? I would be afraid of it getting bumped or something hit it with it being in a living room. Although, I guess if you have low traffic where this coffee table is placed, there should be no problem. According to Just Buy Online, it comes with a tough glass top. The Clear-Seal coffee table aquarium comes with a toughened glass top that has polished rounded edges. It has either a reproduction or mirror corner section that covers the filter and lighting system. WordPress Upgrade

Just today I upgraded to WordPress 2.2.2 because it was released yesterday when I wasn’t paying attention! Anyway, this release is only for security and minor bug fixes. The easy way to upgrade is to just update the files that were changed, rather than uploading every file, which can be extremely time consuming. Usually, you should save a backup of your blog and your database before performing any upgrade, even if it only changes several files. I recommend everyone upgrade to the the newest version.

Water-Cooled Hard Drives

This is exactly what I need. Just recently, a hard drive fan I had underneath one of my hard drives started getting very loud. I didn’t know this at first, because I couldn’t tell if it was a hard drive or a fan. I just knew the sound was coming from that area and I had forgotten that I even had an extra fan for one of the hard drives. I found out about this over at Engadget. The new technique employs noise absorbing, heat conducting plates which surround the drive, and a low-speed radiator fan to keep air moving. The companies say that the material used for the housing is the most efficient ever for conduction of heat, and that the drives are cooled more quickly and with less power. I hope this eventually makes its way to the US.

One Reason to Buy an iMac

Over at Gizmodo, there’s a Photoshop mock up about the next iMac. You do remember what the iPhone looks like right? Well, imagine a much larger one for a screen. It looks pretty! If iMacs weren’t so expensive, this would be one reason I would buy one, for that nice shiny screen! Okay, so that wouldn’t be the only reason to buy one. There are plenty of other reasons to buy an iMac and one of them would be because Microsoft is bringing Windows down with its newest release, Vista. Hasta la Vista right?

I just received an invite to MeeMix today. It looks very nice and has a lot of nice features. Possibly nicer than Yahoo! LAUNCHcast? Don’t know what MeeMix is? MeeMix lets you customize the music you listen to and have different stations. This is handy if you only want to listen to a specific genre. MeeMix can also be set to surprise you with the music you listen to. Even change the volume so you don’t have to change the volume on your speakers! You can even broadcast the stations you create for other people to hear. Search the audience of listeners to see what stations they are listening to. Mobile Widget Service for the iPhone

Plusmo is a free mobile widget service. They offer a start page for cell phones. For you iPhone users, it has been optimized for the iPhone and have thousands of widgets available. I tried this out by creating a widget for my blog. Of course, I don’t own an iPhone, but after creating the widget, it shows me a preview of what it looks like on the iPhone. Makes me wish I had one. Click the iPhone below to subscribe on your iPhone or another cell phone if you don’t own an iPhone!

MySpace Resources

Before I start, I don’t like MySpace. Most of the pages look ugly. Yes, I said it, UGLY and I’m not the first to say it. The majority of them have text you can’t read because the background image is too busy and they never changed the color of the text so you can actually read it. The backgrounds also repeat so that doesn’t help either. The other problem is the amount of pages that have content that children should not be seeing (also known as pornography). Great, I’m sure I’ll receive plenty of visits on that word alone. MySpace doesn’t seem to do much about the problem; I’ve seen so many of these types of pages. And, of course, they can’t allow a mother breastfeeding on one. What’s wrong with people? Now, on to the real topic of this entry. Supposedly, Googl e seems to be creating a mobile phone to help with mobile ad distribution. It sounds like it will be a free service, which will include advertisements. Even though many people don’t like advertisements, I think The ‘Gphone’ would be very popular in that it would be a free service. I don’t know about everyone else, but I would like a free mobile service. This could mean I could take all of my e-mail with me since I have all of my accounts going to my main Gmail account. Will this mean a drop in the iPhone ’s popularity? I don’t think it will right now, but eventually, it could.

Firefox: How Many Tabs?

How many tabs do you open in a Firefox window? Five, eight, twenty? I usually start off with one and then it increases to five, ten and then fifteen until I can’t see all of the tabs anymore. Firefox makes me scroll to find the hidden ones. Firefox does this so the tabs are readable, but in a previous version the tabs would shrink so much that they weren’t readable. Who cares about readable, that’s what wide screens and favicons are for! This has bothered me for some time, but never thought there could be a setting or even a plugin to change this. Yesterday I was doing my usual, going from one website to another, searching for this or that and came upon a blog I didn’t know would make future browsing easier. CSS: Multiple Lines or Single Lines?

Over at Ordered List, there’s an entry about writing CSS selectors on single lines, instead of on multiple lines. There’s also a lot of comments from others discussing what they like. I like the whole single line idea, but it looks really messy. I like having everything appear organized. I also add comments so I can see what everything does, without having to try to remember later.
