My Take: Google Banned me from Adsense
2007-08-16 19:25:00 Hello folks, I want to update you on a few things going on at Boldinvestors! First this week I was stunned to receive an email from Googl e Adsense informing me that my account is disabled, apparently they think my blog had some invalid clicks and/or impressions. I'm very disappointed from Google, they don't bother to check up their facts and simply ban me of the entire program.I really didn't have any kind of invalid clicks and impressions, at least as far as I'm concerned.Anyway I emailed Google Adsense and asked for a clarification of what's going on with blog, at the time of writing this post they haven't replied yet.Meanwhile I thought this is a great time to focus more on content and work on the blog's design and layout, ( hopefully I will soon get a chance to show off that new design I was writing about) and develop into further areas I planned on writing about.I really have so much stuff I want to write about but barley get the time to just sit down and just write ... Community Wi-Fi comes to San Francisco
2007-08-15 21:52:00 Hello friends, first I'd like to apologize, I've had a crazy week and I barely got a chance to write and post any thing, I will soon explain, I have some news I will tell you soon.Cnet is reporting that San Fransisco is finally getting the much talked about Wi-Fi all through the city. While EarthLink and Google are still hammering out details of their citywide Wi-Fi contract with San Franc isco officials, a company called Meraki plans on blanketing the city with free Wi-Fi using volunteers who will deploy and manage the equipment themselves. The company, which sells indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi routers, will expand its free Wi-Fi router giveaway in San Francis co starting Wednesday in an effort to create a free community-based citywide Wi-Fi network throughout the entire city. Meraki's indoor and outdoor routers typically cost $50 and $100, respectively. The company sells its routers to individuals or businesses who want to set up community Wi-Fi hot spots. The routers come with sof... More About: Community
Are counterfeit products = dangerous products?
2007-08-12 18:43:00 JOHN DVORAK wrote a great piece on Marketwatch this weekend, I think its worth mentioning. The story is about the industry of counterfeiting (if you can even call it that) which has just gone way too far, and how it poses a threat to all of us.Anyone working in international trade knows about the long tradition of counterfeiting of brand-name products from Louis Vuitton to Rolex. This has gone on for decades abated only by the occasional symbolic "bust." This situation worsened during a fundamental change in media distribution when the videocassette became a target for counterfeit distribution of first-run movies. The pace quickened, though, with the digitization of everything and the new ease with which perfect copies can be made. As expected China is the heart of the counterfeiting industry. The article address the issue of quality and even more important safety of fake products all the way to multimillion-dollar scams and counterfeiting chips in Silicone Valley. The problem ... More About: Products , Dangerous
Is Flash memory out?
2007-08-11 18:31:00 Cnet is reporting today that Intel and its affiliates will introduce a phase-change memory chips, that may just change the entire game, Let the war begin. Will Intel announce this year that it will finally start producing phase-change memory, a potential replacement for flash memory that's been in the works? That's the guess among people in the hallways of the Flash Memory Summit taking place here this week. Observers say Intel and STMicroelectronics, which have formed a joint venture to make memory, may soon outline plans to go commercial with phase-change memory chips (also called ovonics) this year. ST is very hot on getting the technology--which is said to be more dense than flash memory--out into the market, sources say. Intel has not officially commented on when it will come out with this memory. Greg Komoto, manager for strategic planning for Intel's flash memory group, who spoke at the conference, merely said Intel has created samples of 90-nanometer phase-change chi... In Silicon Valley, Millionaires Who Don’t Feel Rich
2007-08-05 22:12:00 Hello folks, I've just read a fasicnating story on the NY times, you just have to look at it.Its a really interesting view at Silicon Valley 's Mid class , those who has a few millions in the bank but still chase the gold and work like crazy 12+ hours a day not to mention weekend. Its actually a 3 page read but its well worth the time. The story offers us an inside look at the life of Silicone Valley where a few millions in the bank just doesn't do it anymore.“I know people looking in from the outside will ask why someone like me keeps working so hard,” Mr. Steger says. “But a few million doesn’t go as far as it used to. Maybe in the ’70s, a few million bucks meant ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,’ or Richie Rich living in a big house with a butler. But not anymore.I bet they can effort these overpriced cappuccinos at Starbucks... Next Tuesday: Apple's Mac event
2007-08-04 02:13:00 Well its finally here, almost here Apple's new line of Macintosh computers is due to arrive Tuesday , Apple has scheduled an event in which it plans to focus on the Mac.As always speculations are running wild, but I can tell you that there are a few sure things we can aspect Steve to announce: A new iMac (metal brushed as its called on the web). The new all-in-one signature desktops, expected to be available only in 20- and 24-inch configurations, have been described as both slimmer and sleeker than the 17-, 20- and 24-inch models they will replace. The streamlining, however, won't stop with the iMac enclosure. Each new model will come dressed to impress, bundling a snazzy new Apple keyboard of similarly slender proportions, people familiar with the project say. Tapping the wizardry of industrial design chief Jonathan Ive and his team, the Cupertino-based Mac maker has reportedly crafted a super-slim external keyboard for the new Macs. Is Starbucks just overpriced?
2007-08-01 22:16:00 I've just read an article on Businessweek about Starbucks (SBUX) latest price increases, and I must tell you folks, I think enough is enough! Its just too darn pricey for a cup of coffee. Now I have a confession to make, Among my family and friends I'm maybe the only one who actually think that Starbucks coffee is tasty and consider it any good. (Actually most of them actually think that Starbucks coffee tastes pretty lousy) Since 1997, Starbucks has been raising their prices over and over, and I'm just tired of it, As expected their revenues have been increasing as well.Yet today it faces a challenge in continuing its growth story with just tons of new coffee shops opening every few months around the world, and higher operating costs.(mostly raising milk prices as they claim)I think Starbucks has really reached the top, when it comes to raising its prices, they are really close to the point where customers will just abandon their old habits with coffee drinking tradition and g...

Anti-capitalism is rising
2007-07-30 22:20:00 Hello folks, I've just read a research that noted that Anti -capitalism is on the rise. The research was conducted by the Financial Times, and found the following:"A popular backlash against globalisation and the leaders of the world's largest companies is sweeping all rich countries, an FT/Harris poll shows. Large majorities of people in the US and in Europe want higher taxation for the rich and even pay caps for corporate executives to counter what they believe are unjustified rewards and the negative effects of globalisation . Viewing globalisation as an overwhelmingly negative force, citizens of rich countries are looking to governments to cushion the blows they perceive have come from the liberalisation of their economies to trade with emerging countries."Entrepreneurship - is the practice of starting new organizations, particularly new businesses generally in response to identified opportunities.Entrepreneurship is often a difficult undertaking, as a vast majority of n... What do you think of Apple's iPhone Blutooth Headset?
2007-07-28 19:24:00 I've just read iLounge full review of Apple's new iPhone Bluetooth Heads et . First I must say that personally it looks terrific, I think its one of the coolest headsets on the market. Its amazingly small its essentially the size of the iPod's earbuds without the white cord.Pros: A minimalist monaural Bluetooth earpiece that lets you hear and talk on cell phone voice calls or PC/Mac voice chats without any wires between your ear and the phone or computer. Designed specifically for the iPhone, benefitting from especially easy pairing with iPhone, and on-iPhone battery monitoring features. Includes travel charging cable and special charging/synchronization dock for itself and iPhone. Acceptable talk time on rechargeable battery. Cons: Sound quality and battery life are nothing special for the relatively high price, and static-free range is only okay; small earbud without ear hook may not be stable or secure in your ear. Though it includes nice dock, lacks advanced ambient nois... More About: Iphone

BW 01': "Sorry, Steve: Here's Why Apple Stores Won't Work "
2007-07-23 22:07:00 Hello folks, I just ran into an old Business Week story about the dark future of Apple Retail stores, its really funny to look back at it now, the story slams Apple's retail strategy and explain way they will miserably fail. Its seems ironic to read it today 6 years later, especially that today we are getting some great numbers from Apple retail. It seems that Apple's huge investment in retail stores continues to pay off, Apple's retail stores accounted for 13 percent of the total revenues generated by its U.S. retail sector in the third quarter! This are pretty amazing stats, its incredible to see how far along Apple has come with its retail strategy, and carefully planned it, and of course execute it.Here are some more detailed stats, Apple's highest grossing stores in the US:N.Y Fifth Avenue Store which sold about 5 Macs every hour and 1 iPod every two minuteson its way to generating a whooping $45 million in revenues.N.Y SoHo Store with approximatly $23 millionSan Francisco/L.A... Google your life!
2007-07-22 22:15:00 Apparently Googl e has began investing in all sorts of wireless Internet solutions. In a series of different reports I read Google participated in a US$25 million round of funding for Ubiquisys Ltd., a femtocells vendor based in Swindon, U.K. Technology.Femtocells, named for an order of size in physics that is smaller than "pico" or "nano," are cellular base stations for individual homes or offices. Mobile operators hope to sell them to customers who will install them and immediately enjoy better coverage for data and entertainment services. Weak cellular signals indoors, where most high-speed data services are used, have stunted the growth of those lucrative offerings, according to industry analysts.Google reportedly invested in Ubiquisys as part of efforts to help people use the Internet wherever they are, with the richest possible experience, spokesman David-John Collins said. Well for start you may wonder why the hack am I writing a movie review on a tech biz blog, those who have seen it already have the answer: Its was a big computer movie criss, we had plenty of those in the last couple of years but still I think this one is differentOne might criticized th film saying Willis is just way too old for that role which he basically pioneered at the age of 33, in Die Hard which basically defined the genre. But Willis have exceeded my exactions he's only getting better at these action flicks as time rolls on.That postmodern "4.0" alerts us to the fact that McClane is taking on some new-style ter... 2007-07-18 14:12:00 As expected, Yahoo posted another disappointing second-quarter financial results on Tuesday and lowered its guidance for the remainder of the year. We are living in a Widgetized world!
2007-07-15 21:42:00 Hello folks, over the weekend Businessweek ran a story about the web latest exploding phenomenon: Widgets.A Widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. They are akin to plugins or extensions in desktop applications. Other terms used to describe a web widget include gadget, badge, module, capsule, snippet, mini and flake. Web widgets often but not always use Adobe Flash or JavaScript programming languages.Widgets are basically a tiny piece of software which can be embedded any website and can display practically any kind of content (mostly interactive), without forcing the users to navigate away from their desired web page. In business terms it opens up nearly endless new powerful tools for advertisers and retailers who want to reach out to web users in a more personal level while brining actual interactive content into their favorite websites. So What is that Web 2.0 we're all talking about?
2007-07-14 14:53:00 We've talked a lot about Web 2.0 in the last couple of weeks, and I know many folks who constantly use the term, but actually ave no idea what it means. So here you go, according to Wikipedia:Web 2.0, a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media in 2003[1] and popularized by the first Web 2.0 conference in 2004[2] , refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies — which facilitate collaboration and sharing between users. O'Reilly Media titled a series of conferences around the phrase, and it has since become widely adopted. Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to Web technical specifications, but to changes in the ways software developers and end-users use the web as a platform. According to Tim O'Reilly, "Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to ... More About: Talking

Web 2.0 runs Open Source
More articles from this author:2007-07-12 22:15:00 Hello all, It seems that nearly all of web 2.0 startups runs their operation on the Linux Open Source OS. Venturecake has published an interesting story about it. As I wrote earlier Linux is becoming extremely popular and much more common these days then before. Linux is superb for such startups, for many reason, lets start with the fact the its basically free, no licensing fees, etc.. and you can have your entire organization run on lets say Ubuntu (my favorite release) and you don't have to pay a dime. But that's not even the most important reason most of these guys runs on Linux. The actual reason is the stability of the system and easiness of use on servers and with cashing caching services. So which runs on what?Amazon uses Linux. eBay uses Windows, Digg runs Debian, it seems MobiTV run Red Hat, not sure about the rest. leave a comment if you you know any others.Boldinvestors latest and greatest posts: including news items, editorial takes, investing opportunities id...
