Can I Have Multiple Tabs for My Home Page In Firefox?
2008-01-02 15:21:00 So this question bounced around in my head for a bit last night. It seems Rafael wants Firefox 2 to open 3 tabs with different websites on launch. In essence dude wants 3 home pages concurrently. I'm with it... Wait theres more!He wants to do it without an extension, plugin or other point of failure and wants to do it native to the browser. It is so simple and yet so powerful when used in conjunction with profiles.Open up Firefox, navigate to Tools > Options. In the General tab, you will see where you set your Home Page .You are used to seeing one url here and when you open Firefox it is launched. Now is where the trick comes in are you ready? Do you have pen and paper? I'll wait...Simply add a space and the | character in between urls like so:And now when you launch FF you get multiple pages launched. I haven't seen a limit to how many you can launch (make sure you have a bunch of RAM!) Pretty nifty stuff. As usual it does not work in Internet Explorer. (Edit - Reader/Commenter XSl... 2007-12-31 15:21:00 New Years is almost upon us and the Admin needs some rest - maybe a day off? Yeah right we have even more emails today! This has been a big year for the AtA gang - stay tuned for more of our geeky flavored content in 2008.Our reader Diego has an application on his computer that he needs to get access to while he is away. Diego is trying to get VNC going on his iPhone. This tutorial is for you no matter what router you are on but, it uses the WRT54G as an example. You should be able to use the knowledge to work with most modern routers. To begin there are a few things you need to do. First as a prerequisite you need to know the difference between external and internal ip addresses. Now you see that you can't get to your internal addresses also referred to as your NAT IP from outside without some work. You are in a protected kingdom. (Pardon the corny references but they work well!) The inside of your network is like the inside of your virtual castle. The only way in is by ope... Is there A sleek and sexy Bluetooth headset?
2007-12-29 20:52:00 David here again to put you on to a dope pair of Bluetooth heaphones. I found a pair that made me me do a double take. I looked at them, looked at them on myself in the mirror and then looked at the price! The Jaybird JB-100 headphone is a Bluetooth capable headset that sports a criminal-based moniker—however: the audio quality is anything but.The sound is undoubtedly a step up from the ear buds accompanying an iPod purchase, but still leaps and bounds from the Shure sound that audiophiles dream of. I am reviewing the headphones as I sit on a crowded plane at seven in the morning, with a child crying in the adjoining row, and with the JB-100 fastened to my ears and volume at a decent level all I can hear is the angelic wails of a Beatle by the name of Paul McCartney. I can see the tears flowing, the dismay upon the mother’s visage, but the only sounds ringing in my ears are the melodic tunes of a British legend. The JB-100 boasts in-ear headphones and thus most external noise is... More About: Headset , Bluetooth Headset , Sexy , Sleek
Roxio Toast Review and Contest
2007-12-29 06:41:00 Have you ever heard the saying - the best thing since sliced bread? Well how about one better with some toast? That's burnt toast - a CD/DVD burning suite from our good friends at ROXIO. We had a contest for the PC side now we want to show some Mac love so, Mac users it is your turn to get your free on. Just comment on this post for your chance to win! Now we aren't seasoned Mac users but we are veterans at CD/DVD burning and this program rocks. We were easily able to burn images, DVD's and all the other stuff we do on the PC side. They even spiffied up their photo and music features. There are some big changes since the last time we played with toast. Mind you, it's been about 5 years. We were working for Adforum.com and we had apple scripts being launched by our website when anyone made a custom DVD purchase. The script would take the users selections, burn and label them. Automation is a beautiful thing. Well its 2007 and DVD authoring has gone main stream as it is a hell of a ... More About: Contest , Review , Toast , Roxio

Can you recover my file I just saved over in Vista Ultimate ?
2007-12-27 02:03:00 Our answer to this one comes direct from Microsoft and the answer (as always) is YES you can! They have built in there shadow copy or previous versions from Server 2003 into Vista Ultimate . What that means is that Vista keeps several copies of your files (or at least the changes made to them) and if you say saved over your thesis with a blank document - you can revert back. Save over your new work log file with your old one... revert back. Its nice but it seems it is only available on Vista Ultimate...Have you ever accidentally saved over a file you were working on? Accidental file deletion or modification is a common cause of data loss. Windows Vista includes a useful innovation to help you protect your data: Shadow Copy. Available in the Ultimate, Business, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista, this feature automatically creates point-in-time copies of files as you work, so you can quickly and easily retrieve versions of a document you may have accidentally deleted. The All In Wonder...A video recorder on the cheap.
2007-12-26 22:43:00 Does anyone else remember lusting after a small video camera in the 80's? How about an 80's show called Small Wonder? No? Damn young whiper-snappers... Next thing you will tell me you never played Maniac Mansion! Well RCA brings us this slim practical video camera with the same name as that 80's show we loved - its dubbed the All in Wonder. RCA shot us over a review unit so right after we went out and bought our own batteries we gave this thing a whirl. This thing runs on two double a batteries for almost 2 hours. We can record up to a half hour on its internal memory, or pop in a SD card for even more versatility. For its price it does a pretty good job of capturing all your special moments on video. You know first words, first steps or your buddy falling into a sealed pool. Yeah its that great. You might just be the next winner of Americas Funniest Home Video s.You don't need a USB cable as it is built in and slides out from the left hand side (Very Nifty). This took me a few min... Where is Add/Remove Programs in Vista?
2007-12-26 22:08:00 Since I am visiting my wife's family for Christmas, I have of course been roped into doing computer service for them along with the rest of her family. That doesn't really bother me too much though because I love this stuff.Well, on my wife's aunt's new computer she has Windows Vista Home Basic. I haven't upgraded myself, because lets face it, Vista sucks. Unfortunately it is a reality, and people are upgrading so we had better start learning it.For the most part, there are a lot of similarities with Vista and the the previous two versions of Windows, but they did make some subtle changes for the sake of change. One of those changes is where they put Add/Remove Programs . The new computer I was setting up for 'aunty' came from Dell so of course it was loaded with bloatware, and trial crap that she didn't need. I had to get rid of it, but when I went into control panel, Add/Remove Programs wasn't there. It didn't magically appear when I changed my view to classic mode either...
Can I stop Firefox's session restore pop-up?
2007-12-26 06:08:00 I love Firefox. Mainly because it isn't from Microsoft, but also because it is more secure that Internet Explorer, and has millions of cool plug-ins and skins so you can customize it. Your Firefox browser can be as individualized as you want it to be.The one thing I can't stand about it is it will not stop with the fricking "Session Restore " pop-up. I like the idea of it, but no matter how cleanly I close the program, after a while it will say that it wasn't closed properly last time.Do I want to restore the session? No... Not really I tell my computer, but like my two year old daughter, my computer doesn't listen to me.I found a way to stop it though. If you know a better, easier way us know in the comments:1) In Firefox type about:config in the address bar and press enter.2) You will get a list of stuff you've probably never seen before.3) Find the string saying browser.sessionstore.enabled.4) Right-click on it and select toggle. That changes the value from True to False.5) T... More About: Stop

Can I make my digital camera wi-fi compatible? Ever heard of the Eye-FI SD
2007-12-24 14:39:00 Our answer comes to us from Guest writer, David Fried. Stay tuned for bio info on David and other AtA guests like Daniel from HackYourDay...The Mac and PC compatible Eye-Fi SD memory card flawlessly adds Wi-Fi to any camera and boasts a respectable 2GB of memory. The free Eye-Fi service supports uploading to numerous photo based websites with the touch of a button; including Flickr, Shutterfly and Webshots to name a few. Setup is a snap as it takes about five minutes or so to program the card. From there your home free, just snap some pics and within a few minutes within the range of your router, the pictures will be available for viewing on the computer. For those are paranoid, no need to worry the site claims “photo transmission is secure and private.” However, a major flaw is the fact that the card doesn’t support hotspots. The price comes in at a non-bank breaking $100. But snapping photos and uploading in real time is worth the extra coin, especially since the Eye-Fi is n... Blogger Administration via Windows Mobile.
2007-12-02 15:18:00 So am I the last one to know that you can do FULL out blogger administration via Windows Mobile 6? I had set up a post email account a while back that let me type an email send it off and it would be saved as a draft ( you can set it to post as well - but that's a little too much uncertainty for AtA.I have been away from a real computer more times than not with my precious around. I would email my drafts (with images) and then edit and post them when I got back to home base. Now after being away for more than a day, I wound up at the blogger page on my Dopod C730 and I was logged in as I had just commented on a post. I figured I would click on edit posts for shits and giggles...Surprise Surprise! It worked full out editing, posting and modifying the template (edit: except for uploading images directly)? So my question is why didn't anyone tell me about this? Thanks guys!_TheMobileBloggingAdmiN_Check out our RSS feed. Need Free Tech Support? Using Google as a password cracker.
2007-12-01 22:54:00 A website we read Hackaday posted this interesting piece last week on how to use Google as a password cracker. If you don't know what md5 hashed passwords are then this isnt for you and you should stop reading (Check back in a bit for a piece of password cracking) or see what they are here. But if you are like me and need to um recover passwords on a system you have physical access to you know you can dump passwords from the local sam database as hashed passwords.Using a program like l0pht crack (LC5 to those in the know - more on this later) to decpypher them is time consuming but acording to this post you can simply google the hash - if it is even a fairly common password google will return the answer. How fucking cool is that?In the following example they use it after a machine was hacked they wanted to be able to login as that user and spy on the enviroment for some forensic goodness.sually we're into hardware hacks, but once in a while I run across something that's just too g... When a Parrot is not really a Parrot it is the PMK5800 bluetooth car kit!
2007-11-30 23:33:00 So we have been spoiled for a while now in the Infiniti FX35 and all its bluetooth and geeky goodness. But before that we were getting around in a Jaguar X-type sans bluetooth (worst car ever!) and this little doo-dad from Parrot would have turned our ride into bluetooth heaven. This guy lets you use you stream music via A2DP, Music will play over your existing setup via its FM Transmitter. It will mute your tunes when a call comes in. It also surprised up with great quality for noise cancellation and voice recognition. Unlike most plug'n play hands-free kits, the PMK5800 uses its own voice recognition software. You can quickly and safely access your main contacts by saying their names (up to 150 contacts per phone). After that it chokes! Your new parrot can pair up with 10 seperate devices and works with Bluetooth 1.2, HFP, A2DP, AVRCP and OPP (edit: no wise ass not the song). But best of all it goes into a car with such ease you can never be without bluetooth again! Windows Xp Install - Little Known Fact.
2007-11-30 16:19:00 I don't know how useful this actually is but I thought I would share it with you guys anyway. You seem to like useless information... Right?? This one kind of threw me for a loop. I was watching a junior admin install Windows XP from a CD and he turned to me and said Want to see something cool?I shrugged my shoulders and he hit a key combination and brought up a command prompt over the gui that was installing windows....I said What?We went back and forth for a little bit and apparently he doesn't know what it is there for but he likes that it makes him look cool knowing it is there. So it is Shift + F10 to get the command prompt. It only works from the GUI portion and not the white text on blue background parts. I googled it and saw some speculation on using it to inject drivers during your install. Microsoft themselves said the following:In some cases, it may be helpful to have access to a command prompt during GUI-mode Setup for the purposes of troubleshooting, copying drivers, ...
