Newgie.com
2006-10-20 02:36:06 Newgie uses the attention given to each news story by its readers to determine which stories are the most interesting and newsy. Implicit human actions, such as page views, recommendations, and favorites, are all parts of the equation. Articles are then sorted by Newsiness, making it easy to find the news that matters most. Unlike traditional web 2.0 news-organizers, Newgie utilizes implicit human actions, such as page views, recommendations, and favorites, to determine “newsiness”, rather than a voting mechanism such as Digg. By focusing on natural actions that people take whenever they read the news, Newgie focuses on the most innate indications of interest in the story. The result is that Newgie users easily find news stories neatly organized into hundreds of subject categories that are the most interesting, the most current, and of course the most newsy.
