Tracking Service on your mobile phone
2008-01-25 10:35:00 GPS tracking systems are widely used not only in a professional environment such as emergency services, policing, transportation, etc, but they are also increasingly being used by individuals. Although a lot more people would like to use GPS tracking systems, especially by parents concerned about their children or in cases of people suffering from a debilitating illness, they are not always feasible because of the cost of purchasing hardware or there just isn’t enough awareness. Spy pen with invisible ink and built-in black light
2008-01-24 13:13:00 This spy pen will allow you to write your confidential information in ink which is invisible to the naked eye. The built-in black light in the top of the pen can then be shone on your writing to reveal your confidential information or secret message. The spy pen is great for recording confidential information such as passwords, codes or account details. It can also be used for marking ownership of property. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. Data loss - becoming a common occurrence!
2008-01-22 19:43:00 Just a couple of months after a major blunder that resulted in disks containing millions of child benefit records being lost by the HM Revenue Customs, the careless way organisations handle personal data still persists. The Ministry of Defence has now lost a laptop containing as many as 600,000 personal records. There has also been many other losses in between which have not been as high profile as these cases because they either involved records of small number of people or the records lost were not deemed as serious as these more higher profile cases. Spy Review - Looking back at October
2008-01-22 10:55:00 For the October review, let’s start off with a spy camera jammer! The Camera and Wifi Jammer transmits on three frequencies, namely on 900MHz, 1.2GHz, and 2.4GHz. These frequencies are the most commonly used frequencies for transmitting spy cameras, not to mention wireless networks that use 2.4GHz. The jammer transmits 300mW of noise on each band which is enough to block the signal of cameras and wifi networks around you, up to a radius of 10 metres. However, the battery only lasts 45 minutes! Make Your Own Covert Video Spy Sunglasses
2008-01-21 11:15:00 Wouldn’t it be really cool to have a spy camera that could be used to record a video of exactly what you see? Wouldn’t it be even better to have it completely concealed so that nobody knew that you were spying on them? Sounds something you would see in the TV Series Bugs (actually Season 3, Episode 8: Buried Treasure to be precise!). This great article on Instructables shows you how you can make your own covert spy camera sunglasses made from low cost chunky sunglasses and a cheap spy camera from eBay. I Spy - good spy entertainment from the past
2008-01-21 11:14:00 Over the years there has been a lot of good spy entertainment both on TV and the movies. One show I quite like is I Spy starring Robert Culp and Bill Cosby. The show is based on the espionage genre about two secret agents who carry out missions on behalf of their employer, the Pentagon, in far-flung places. I caught a few of the episodes on YouTube, but they usually get taken off after a while, possibly because of copyright issues. Anyway, these are both very good actors in their own right, especially Culp who guest starred in four Columbo films, playing the killer in the first three and the a father of a killer in the fourth. Covert Digital Voice Recorder Pen
2008-01-19 11:26:00 The covert version of the voice recorder pen It?s not difficult to find a digital voice recorder pen, as there are several on the market that have several hours of audio recording time. However, most of these digital voice recorder pens feature lots of buttons or lights, which mean the pen is anything but covert. This Digital Recorder Pen doesn?t have any lights or buttons and actually looks like a normal pen. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. Microsoft to develop software to ?spy? on workers
2008-01-18 22:35:00 An interesting development sees Microsoft seeking a patent to develop a software that would allow managers to monitor or ?spy? on workers. I guess this comes on the back of a string of research that indicate there is a general lack of productivity in the workplace. It is believed tens of thousands of work hours a week are lost with employees using the net to do things other than what they should be doing, which is work. With the recent rise in popularity of social networking sites, I guess the problems have gotten worse. Online games and reading emails are two other popular distractions. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. Creating your own GPS Tracking Service - UberTracker
2008-01-18 16:48:00 The UberTracker is a combination of GSM and GPS technologies just like the Parallel Track GPS tracker that I reviewed recently. However, the UberTracker is a completely customisable device that can report GPS coordinates via email or over GPRS to a web server. You can configuring the logging frequency, how much log data is sent to an email address or web server and the type of location format too. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. The History of Espionage by Ernest Volkman
2008-01-16 10:39:00 At the end of last year I received a copy of The History of Espionage by Ernest Volkman to review from Carlton Publishing. It has got to be the most interesting history book that I have ever read! The book gives an account of historical events from the perspective of spies and intelligence. There?s a resounding theme throughout the book; if it wasn?t for the detailed intelligence from spies, wars and battles would never be won! Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. Principles of Computer Surveillance - Part 3 - Stealth Techniques
2008-01-14 11:26:00 This is the third and final part in the Principles of Computer Surveillance guides. In part 1 I explained some common terms associated with computer surveillance. In part 2 I discussed some of the ways in which computer surveillance software can be installed covertly on a computer. My focus was on ways of installing software when you don?t have direct access to the computer. In part 3, I discuss some of the techniques used by surveillance software to covertly send data back to base without triggering a reaction from the firewall. I also discuss the principle of how surveillance software can completely mask itself from even the most advanced computer users. What?s shocking is that these techniques have been exploited by malware for years! Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. Spy Camera and DVR Hidden In A Belt Buckle
2008-01-11 09:35:00 Now this is an unusual spy camera, as its a covert spy camera with builtin digital video recorder (DVR) hidden in a belt buckle! The DVR is able to record video in the 3GP video format (176 x 144 pixels) which is typically the format used by mobile phones to record video. The DVR is capable of recording audio and video onto a standard SD memory card slotted into the buckle! Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. Sssh! The Mobile Phone Detection Unit
2008-01-09 10:12:00 There are a number of places where it is undesirable to allow mobile phone use. For example, in a library, a court room, a place of religious worship, in certain offices, in theatres, you get the idea. You could block the phone signals using a phone jammer device, but phone jammers are illegal in most countries in the EU and some US states. So how do you solve the problem? This relatively inexpensive mobile phone detection device will sound an alarm if it detects a mobile phone being used. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. Principles of Computer Surveillance - Part 2 - Covert Installation
2008-01-07 10:57:00 In part 1 of the Principles of Computer Surveillance guide, I discussed some of the common terms associated with computer surveillance. I explained terms such as spyware, a computer virus, a computer worm, Trojan horses, backdoors and malware. I discussed what information could be accessed by surveillance software, how the information is retrieved and the motivations for accessing information on a computer. In part 2, I explain some of the ways in which surveillance software can be installed on a computer. If you have direct access to a computer, you can install the software onto the computer yourself. However, in this article, I am going to focus on how the software can be installed when you don?t have direct access to the computer. Essentially this is about packaging the software so that you can trick users into installing the surveillance software on their own computer without them realising. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. Surveillance microphone the size of a matchstick
2008-01-04 10:00:00 This tiny microphone the size of a matchstick is only 3mm in diameter, and is an excellent accessory for audio surveillance equipment. The microphone uses a standard-sized 3.5mm socket with a clip to allow you to connect it to your audio equipment. The audio socket does need to provide a power supply, but that’s very common for sound recorders these days. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. Low-cost and legal phone signal blocker
2008-01-02 09:10:00 Ok, the title is a little misleading, and that was intentional. This cell phone signal blocker pouch allows you to stop a mobile phone from getting network coverage by placing the phone in a specially designed RF-shielded bag. This means you can stop anyone calling you, since the phone doesn’t have enough signal with the network to allow a call to take place. Copyright © 2008 Spy Review. Incredible Parabolic Dish Audio Surveillance Kit
2007-12-19 10:34:00 If you want to spy on people from a distance, there’s a tried and tested piece of kit that will do the job. A parabolic dish uses a specially angled disc that focuses all sounds hitting the dish towards a highly amplified microphone. This allows you to hear far-away sounds and conversations, without you being visible to the target you are trying to listen to. This Professional Parabolic Dish Kit features a dish 20 inches (about 50 cm) in diameter and allows you to hear from up to 275 metres away. Copyright © 2007 Spy Review. Professional Multi-featured Bug Detector
2007-12-17 10:05:00 Finding a decent bug detector that doesn’t cost a fortune is hard work. You need to be wary of any bug detector that claims to “do it all” when it comes to bug detection. The Hand Held Multi functional Sweep Unit doesn’t claim to do everything, but it does boast an impressive selection of features. The detector is capable of detecting RF signals from spy cameras and bugs, telephone line taps and laser microphones. All these features are packed into a smart looking unit too. Electronics Tuition from an Evil Genius
2007-12-14 11:13:00 I’ve long believed that the best spy kit is the stuff that you make yourself. Most spy gadgets are electronics based, so gaining electronics knowledge is the key. This is why I think the 101 Spy Gadgets for the Evil Genius Book is such a good book, as the focus is on modifying existing technology to create a spy gadget. However, the 101 Spy Gadgets does offer a few circuits to build from scratch too. But we don’t have to stop with just spy gadgets! Copyright © 2007 Spy Review. Home spying with a Hairdryer, Plant and Coffee Mug
2007-12-12 11:12:00 It’s no secret that spy cameras are everywhere, and this is perfectly demonstrated with covert cameras hidden in a coffee mug, household plant and a hairdryer! The coffee mug camera has got to be the ugliest mug that I’ve ever seen! (heh, am sure there’s a good joke here!) Interestingly the mug camera uses 8xAA batteries to power the camera transmitter, giving it an impressive 12 hours of transmitting time. However, that would make for a very heavy mug! However, it would be a perfect office pen and pencil holder, allowing it to be used for office spying without attracting much attention. Copyright © 2007 Spy Review. Spy Review - Looking back at September
2007-12-07 10:13:00 In September I reviewed a high quality 2.4GHz Wireless Spy Camera and USB Receiver. The camera is quite robust, something a little rare for a 2.4GHz camera. The wireless receiver is really small and also very versatile. The receiver can be plugged into a TV as well as used on a PC to record footage from the wireless camera. A problem with many cheap cameras from eBay is that they don’t have a UK mains adapter, and this kit usefully had 2 power supplies. Good thing really, as wireless cameras eat batteries! Hiding valuables in a drink and cushion?
2007-12-05 11:38:00 The “out of sight, out of mind” saying is so true when it comes to security. If you can’t see the valuables, its less likely to tempt opportunist thieves from stealing those valuables. This is why there are so many campaigns telling you not to leave anything of value inside your car, as its relatively easy to break the window and steal something from the car seat. On the theme of safes, we have a very convincing safe inside a Brisk Iced Tea Bottle. Copyright © 2007 Spy Review. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only.
