PS3 shipment and manufacturing problems solved
2006-12-13 04:34:01
Sony has solved PS3 manufacturing/ shipment issues according to the official statement from communications boss David Karraker. While they didn’t meet the launce target of 400,000 systems, Karraker says that the target of they are on target for a million systems by the end of the year. Karraker’s comments come after research firm NPD published a new report showing that 197,000 PS3 units were sold during November - and since the console quickly sold out, that means the number of units shipped was less than half SCEA’s target of 400,000 for launch day. “We will continue to utilise airfreight delivery for PlayStation 3 to assure a steady stream of systems for North American consumers through the end of the year.” Seems like there is a faint ray of light for those wanting the PS3 this year. I emphasize the word faint. Source [The Game Industry]

Java 6 Released
2006-12-13 04:34:01
Java 6 has just been released. Deemed the best “out of the box” one ever, it incorporates over 300 bug fixes, helped along by an unprecedented stream of community-generated bug reports. Some of the added features include embedded Rhino Javascript engine from Netscape/Mozilla, major updates to training and tutorial materials, improved dTrace debugging support (Solaris only), Java DB (derived from Apache Derby) included with Sun?s package and full support for XML web services clients. Sun and Microsoft worked closely on a Java release to improve integration and performance on Windows, particularly on the freshly released Windows Vista. Java 6 runs great on Windows Vista , which is clearly going to be getting a lot of consumer mindshare in the very near future. Sun and Microsoft also worked together to improve web services support and interoperability in Java 6. It?s nice to see these two companies cooperating on technical issues while still competing in the marketplace. S...

NEC Corp and NEC Design Ltd, Tokyo has redefined the future of computers and how it could be shaped. Presenting the pen computer, an innovative concept of integrating a computer into a pen.
