Luxury watch maker TAG Heuer has teamed up with Modelabs to produce its own range of mobile phones. The first handset should appear in the first half of 2008 and we should expect the designs to reflect the same qualities as their time peieces. Nokia 8800 Arte
2007-11-21 10:42:00
Nokia recently released details of two new 8800 series special editions. The Nokia 8800 Arte and Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte. They boast hardware upgrades over previous 8800 models such as a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, 1GB of internal memory and the addition of 3G.The pair also pioneer some exclusive software changes aimed at their high end audience, with the tap-for-time feature and turn-to-mute. The former enables an analogue style clock to be viewed simply by tapping the bottom of the display screen twice. The later mutes an incoming call when the handset is turned face down, using an accelerometer to sense this motion. Where the 8800 Arte and 8800 Sapphire Arte differ is in their styling. The 8800 Arte comes in black, with the 8800 Sapphire Arte a stylish brown, but with a whole piece sapphire crystal in the centre of the D-pad to further distinguishing it from run of the mill mobiles!More at Nokia

8 megapixel Samsung camera phone in 2008
2007-11-16 11:40:00
Expect the imaging capabilities of mobile phones to continue to improve as Samsung announce it has developed an 8-megapixel CMOS module for use in a mobile phone. The module is the same size as Samsung's current 3.2-megapixel module at 10.5 x 11.5 x 9.4mm, which bodes well for a continuation of slim slider phone designs. The 8-megapixel module captures 3264 x 2444 pixels, has autofocus capabilities and will be able to produce 300dpi picture output for prints as large as 10 x 8-inches. The module is expected to go into mass production in the first half of 2008 and should be available in high-end Samsung phones later in 2008.

Apple says more iPhone features in future
2007-11-12 10:55:00
Apple has confirmed that it has plenty more upgrades to come for the Apple iPhone. They claim the complaints and feature requests can be fixed and added by software upgrades. "We didn't want to include something for something's sake. For the average mobile phone most people only use around 10%, Apple didn't want that to happen with the iPhone." Some believe that not including all the software features from day one will allow Apple to entice new customers over the next few months.Others think if the reason to upgrade the software each time is compelling enough, then you are less likely to hack the software, meaning Apple gets to earn the substantial revenue agreement it has with the official operator. We here at TMPC look forward to seeing the iPhone develop in to its full potential!

MOTOROKR T505
2007-10-30 11:15:00
The MOTOROKR T505 is the first combined in-car hands free and music solution offered by Motorola. It contains a Bluetooth speakerphone and digitial FM transmitter, to enable you to take calls and stream music directly from your phone through your existing car audio system. As an added bonus, the T505 also features a FM digital radio for when you exhaust your phone’s music library. The T505 uses StationFinder, a technology that tells users which setting on the FM dial is optimal for broadcasting audio from the unit. When receiving calls, the T505 automatically mutes any music playing and audibly announces the Caller-ID, preventing drivers from having to take their eyes off the road. The MOTOROKR T505 doesn’t need to be installed into the car, simply clipping onto a car’s sunvisor and paired using Motorola’s own EasyPair technology. It is due for a post Christmas launch.
