Beware of Lottery Email Scam
2008-04-17 19:46:00 Millions of Euros and U.S. Dollars were divested from unsuspecting Internet users. Nigerian online scammers hit the virtual world again with their "You've just won a Spanish Lottery " fake promotion. Of course, one who has the common sense should immediately dismiss this email as scam. Why would one win a Spanish lottery that he/she did not participate in? One of the victims, the BBC reported, was an Anglican bishop. Victims, mostly from the US and the European Union, were asked by the scammers to send money to claim their prizes. In one of my blogsites, I have been posting scam emails that got their way into my inbox. In my own simple way, I'm just trying to generate awareness so that people won't fall victims. At times greed for money and people's own unupdated ignorance have made millions of Internet users easy targets of email scams. One congressman in the U.S. was even victimized by (again) a Nigerian scammer. Quick Tip of the Hour: Do you want to be di... More About: Email , Beware , Scam
The Death of Internet in Mobile Phone Services
2008-04-17 17:57:00 With no offense to Internet Service Providers and mobile phone companies, I strongly believe that Internet experience in mobile phones is merely a hype, an outburst of short-lived thrill, but the excitement won't be too long that soon people will stop browsing the Internet in their mobile phones. You must have heard and read of tragic stories of people who cut their lives short due to untimely, misplaced use of SMS (text messaging) while they're driving or while they're crossing the road. When new reports of deaths due to Internet browsing on the phone come out, there will be new public service campaigns discouraging people not to use the Internet on their mobile phones. Using the Internet on a narrow screen is stressful. Nothing will replace the laptop. Laptops can come in various sizes, but cellphones can't increase the size that far. People will soon realize that cellphones will kill their enjoyment of using the Internet. Cellphone is anti-productive, if you use i... More About: Mobile , Services , Phone , Mobile Phone

How to Delete Internet Cookies in Firefox
2008-04-17 10:32:00 Every time you visit a website, there is the so-called cookie that is being kept in your computer. The cookie helps your browser loads a once visited website page faster when you visit that particular website again. There are two ways that you can delete the Internet cookies hiding in your computer. This tutorial is for Firefox users. Okay, go to "Tool", then choose "Clear Private Data", check "Cookies ," and click "Clear Private Data." All your cookies are gone now. Bye. What if you just want to delete cookies from one particular website? To do that, go to "Tools" again, choose "Options", then go to "Privacy", then click "Show Cookies", and then you will see several folders of websites that you've visited. If you want to remove all cookies, choose "Remove All Cookies." If you want to remove a specific cookie, click one of the folders, then click "Remove Cookies." Bye, bye cookies.... More About: Delete
Did Google Say Sorry to You?
2008-04-17 10:16:00 Well, Google said sorry to me. I was using Google search, typing certain keywords, studying how Google positioned certain websites for a particular searched phrase. To my surprise, Google said: We're sorry... ... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now. We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software. If you're continually receiving this error, you may be able to resolve the problem by deleting your Google cookie and revisiting Google. For browser-specific instructions, please consult your browser's online support center. If your ent...
Are You Afraid Of Your Website?
2008-04-17 10:06:00 If you're not afraid of your website, well, I am. Is your website a horrifying picture? Perhaps. Today I visited a blogsite and it took me eternity (exaggeration intended) before the browser could load up all the site's contents. Before the browser (Mozilla Firefox) could serve all the site's stuff, I just ran away, opened another tab and typed another url, and closed the horrifying website. Why am I afraid of your website? Because your website has too many elements. I don't know why you had to put all the widgets in the world. I don't know why you had to place chat box, shout box, scream box, whisper box, think box, jukebox. I don't know why you had to litter your website with all the RSS buttons and bookmark buttons the world has ever known. (Read: Only webmasters use bookmark, RSS tools. Your girl next door does not even know about Firefox.) What really is the focus of your website? Do you want it to be a place for all shouting and screaming? Do you want i... More About: Website
Why You're Not Making Money with Google Adsense
2008-04-17 08:52:00 Everyday you check your Google Adsense account hoping to see some clicks on your stats. You execute this ceremony daily, and sigh. Why you're not making money with Google Adsense ? Let me tell you one thing. My prognosis is based from what I've seen from thousands of websites that I've visited so far. Okay, your website is not making money with Google Adsense because you placed too many Google ads. You make your website a sky with Google Adsense as your rainbow. Putting Google Adsense in all corners of your website can hurt your quest to make money online. People may think that you are too obsessed with Google Adsense rather than the quality of your website content. Place your Google Adsense code in its proper place. Design your site in such a way that Google ads won't become an obstruction, but a beautiful element that harmoniously blends with the overall website design. Google was close for an hour
2008-04-17 08:06:00 Yes, Google was down for an hour. I can't use Google search nor can I log into my Gmail email account. I tried to log in to my Google Analytics, but it was inaccessible. At first I blamed the mess on Firefox 3 Beta 5, the latest version, for misbehaving (again). I tried Opera and Internet Explorer (last option), but the problem persisted. Maybe Google site was hijacked by a cookie in my browser? I used CCleaner and removed all cookies and browsing traces. Though I got a clean bill of health from CCleaner, still Google can't be accessed. I updated my AVG Anti-Spyware and ran a quick system scan. I went to Google again, but the site was still down. What's happening here? Well, well, no website can ever be stable 100 percent. Google can't be perfect. In the same way that no webhost that's ever been perfect. No company that's ever been perfect. There are loopholes and virtual bumps. We just have live with them. Quick Tip of the Hour : Do you want to be different... More About: Close

98 % Of Millions of Blogsites Are Failure
2008-04-14 20:11:00 When will you say that this blogsite and that website have miserably failed? What is your definition of a blog-failure? Should we conclude a blogsite failure because it generates two to three unique site visitors a day? It must be from Terry Heath's blogsite (I like his literary criticism, by the way) that I first learned of this gloomy fact. Only 2 percent of the hundreds of millions of blogsites/websites can really be condsidered successful (or profitable). Google is indexing billions and billions of web pages every day. What is your chance of being noticed? What is my chance of being noticed? Hard questions. Therea are those who blog for money, thus traffic is of paramount concern to them. Techcrunch.Com blog, they say, is earning $240,000. In February 2008, JohnChow.Com earned $30,000, most of which came from paid site reviews. Website Hackers Hiding in Porno and Gambling Sites?
2008-04-14 17:20:00 Do you visit pornographic websites? Do you visit gambling-related sites? If you do, think twice again - you are at risk. According to a report by BBC, quoting Symantec, website hackers can learn loopholes of your websites through your browser that has touched a porn or gambling site, or an unsecured website. The BBC report reads: Kevin Hogan, director of security operations at Symantec, said the bug-ridden web code was putting visitors to many entirely innocent sites at risk. "It overturns the whole notion that if you stay away from gambling and porn sites you are okay," he said. The attack that a malicious hacker can carry out via these web code vulnerabilities is known as cross-site scripting (abbreviated as XSS). How to Blog Without Worrying Article-Saving
2008-04-14 15:38:00 Both Blog spot and Wordpress have an option in which you can email your articles to your blog site. In Blogger's Blogspot, configure your blog email address by going to settings, then email, then "mail-to-blogger address," and then create a unique email address. In Wordpress (the latest 2.5 version), you go to Settings, then click Write, then look for "Post-via-Email", and then configure your mailing address. Emailing articles works pretty fast for those who are using cPanel in their hosting account. Most webhosts offer unlimited and free POP3-enabled emails. Okay, you will read this in Wordpress: To post to WordPress by e-mail you must set up a secret e-mail account with POP3 access. Any mail received at this address will be posted, so it's a good idea to keep this address very secret. How Oil Can Hurt Canada
2008-04-14 15:17:00 Canada and America are two inseparable brothers (or sisters, if you're not comfortable with the term). Trading between the two countries is a well-known intimate economic affair. The U.S. supplies technology to Canada, and the latter transports oil to America. Is Canada's oil unlimited? Will oil hurt Canada in the long run. Robert Morley, in an article "Canada's Oil Achilles Heel" published in the Trumpet, exploded a soul-searching revelation. Morley said: Canada may produce more oil than it consumes, but Canada exports so much to the U.S. that as a nation, Canada doesn't have enough remaining oil to take care of its own daily needs. Quebec and Atlantic Canada are forced to import fully 90 percent of their oil consumption, while Ontario imports 40 percent. The bottom line here is money. Oil companies, whether or not selling oil abroad will eventually their home countries, will always go for the highest price tag. Own your personal website in 2 hours at www.lu... Advice To An Angry Blogger's Blogspot User
2008-04-14 12:20:00 There is an angry, disappointed blogger at Blogspot who threatened to vanish if Blogspot could not solve errors in his blogsite. My heart goes out to this blogger. I know how it feels when you scream out of a deep frustration after seeing errors in your blogspot site. Here's the unabridged desperate words of the blogger: I'm seriously looking elsewhere, if this wasn't a 'free' service, I'd be looooooooooong gone by now. The ignorance and blatant non-existing customer service is unheard of. If I just knew where to yell, I'd be there in person showing my angry red cheeks to someone in charge! Why talk of customer service? We can only demand for customer service from Blogger's Blogspot if we are paying for its service. Even Microsoft is not providing excellent customer care to its users. Try sending an email to Microsoft regarding your problem and for sure you'll receive a "canned, pre-written, non-personal" blah, blah from its outsourced ... More About: Advice , User , Angry
Serious Warning to Firefox Browser Users
2008-04-14 12:02:00 If you plan to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox , aptly called as Firefox 3 Beta 5, I strongly admonish you not to do it by this time. Firefox 3 Beta 5 is a horror. Firefox's latest release failed to provide a smooth Internet browsing experience. Based on my experience, I often suffer with Firefox 3 Beta 5 - it always crashes whenever you open a website, particularly those sites coded with .aspx. It's either Firefox is too advanced that websites must first comply with its newest standard or Firefox has messed up the reputation of its predecessor, Firefox 2, you better stay with Firefox 2. For now, I'm having an external affair with Opera browser. Sometimes I use Apple's Safari. To you, my Mozilla Firefox, clean up your backyard, otherwise I'll stay with Opera forever. | | Separate Word: Do you know that Super B Hosting offers a $2.50/month Wordpress blog? check details here > > Own your personal website in 2 hours at www.lunarpages.com More About: Warning , Browser , Users
What If There Were No Search Engines
2008-04-13 16:26:00 After six months of working on Webhosting Reality's blog, I now see the fruits of my effort. With a Page Rank (PR 3) status, Webhosting Reality also continues to get better ranking in Alexa. Most of this blog's visitors come from the United States. Providing 80 - 90 % of traffic juices, Google Search Engine tops as the number one traffic provider. Thank you, Google. Yahoo and Microsoft's Live Search did not show up in the top 10 traffic sources. Digg does. The world knows only of Google? Wait, let me ask: "What if there were no search engines in the world"? What will happen to this weblog? Where will you get traffic to your website? The question seems scary. I must do something so that people will know about Webhosting Reality even without search engines' helping hands. Once I have enough funds, I will order t-shirts and print the blog's url on them. The End of America's Economic Power?
2008-04-13 13:30:00 At first I refuse to believe that America is falling apart, but not until I read Robert Morley's column published in the Trumpet. In his article entitled "The End of U.S. Financial Hegemony," Morley, citing financial analysts' opinions, predicted an eventual collapse of the American economy. Quoting reports from Reuters, Morley said: ...some Wall Street banks are seen as a greater credit risk than certain dictatorships. For example, prior to its collapse, Bear Stearns was considered so unsafe that the cost of insuring its debt was more than the cost of insuring the debt of Kazakhstan. As of March 18, investors considered Morgan Stanley more risky than Turkey, a nation that has experienced chronic hyperinflation. The 158-year-old investment bank Lehman Brothers was considered more likely to default on its debt than both Turkey and Nigeria. What's Wrong with Making Money Online?
More articles from this author:2008-04-12 19:49:00 a www.webhostingreality.com article - When I first came to know of the Internet, I was really excited to read websites, ebooks, and emails that told me how easy it was to become an instant millionaire by making money online. That was 11 years ago. I was foolish then, signing up there and here of every conceivable program. Later I found out that most of those programs were fake. These Internet tactics were created to siphon people's emails. My old Yahoo email still has tons of these out-of-the world promises of riches and prosperity. Today the buzz has not waned. A search in Google on the phrase make money online yields 35,300,000 indexed pages. Yahoo shows it has 840,000,000 pages indexed for the same phrase. Making money online is real (ask Google about it), but the hidden problem finds its way to individuals who sell information products about making money in the Internet.
