Yahoo Mail Innovates, Gmail Stagnates
2007-09-20 10:55:00
Less than two years after their beta release, Yahoo Mail has begun rolling out of beta after releasing an onslaught of innovative feature improvements along the way. On the other hand, a whopping three years into their beta release, Gmail remains one of the most popular but stagnant web-based beta email apps around?and most of Gmail?s innovation since its release has come in the form of third-party hacks and extensions. The short of it: Google makes a great beta, but with Gmail they?ve been much too slow to actually take the application to the next level. Let?s take a look at some of Yahoo Mail ?s killer out-of-the-box features in comparison to what Gmail is offering.

Don't fork Linux because of Linus
2007-09-20 10:42:00
I recently read a blog entry on InfoWorld.com that urged the Linux community to fork the kernel into desktop and server versions because, according to the author, all Linus Torvalds cares about is big iron. Sorry, but that?s both wrong and stupid. Author Randall Kennedy depicts Con Kolivas, touted as the ?champion of all things desktop centric,? as ?the victim of an ideological rift within the Linux community? who has given up on Linux because his scheduler patch has been rejected. Kennedy asserts Torvalds and his ??geekerati? underlings ? are mostly concerned with promoting Linux within the enterprise ? i.e. Projects involving lots of parallel CPUs, massive storage and high-end TPC results.?
Red Hat Delivers Statement on Decision for European Commission vs. Microsof
2007-09-20 10:38:00
RedHat announced the following statement in regard to the Court of First Instance in Luxembourg?s decision in the matter of the European Commission vs. Microsoft: ?Today?s decision by the Court of First Instance in Luxembourg in the Microsoft matter is great news for innovation and consumer choice, both in Europe and around the world. The Court has confirmed that competition law prevents a monopolist from simply using its control of the market to lock in customers and stifle new competitors, said Matthew Szulik, Chairman and CEO of Red Hat. In our business interoperability information is critically important and cannot simply be withheld to exclude all competition. Given Red Hat?s firm belief that competition, not questionable patent and trade secret claims, drives innovation and creates greater consumer value, we we were pleased with the overall decision and look forward to examining the decision in greater detail. Red Hat would like to congratulate the European Commission , and p...

Menciptakan Gambar Berkualitas Dengan Kamera Pocket
2007-08-13 22:13:00
