Harry potter and Order of the Phoenix PS2 game
2008-06-01 23:16:00
Harry Potter is a prodigy among thousands all over the world. The story revolves around this character who attends the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This simple boy (or so he thinks) is overwhelmed with the responsibility and legacy that he has to live up to. The books follow his life as he learns more about magic and himself. There are very few who haven't read the books or heard his name. I haven't read all the books, but I'm still a big fan of the series, and the movies as well. You don't have to be a genius to realize that Harry Potter as a part of interactive media is a great idea; basically a game on Harry Potter makes a lot of sense. But sadly, the past games based on the various movies have been a major disappointment, with none of them even remotely representing the Harry Potter universe in its full glory. This time around, although the game looks a little better, it plays just the same. You will enjoy the game for the first 1 hour or so, but then the rest...

Mobiles which are less than 15 k
2008-03-25 16:35:00
This segment of mobile phones (price ranging between 5,000 to 15, 000 rupees but these prices change daily) witnesses the maximum competition since all leading cell phone manufacturers tout their sleekest models in this price range. As a result - this review also creates a lot of confusion amongst buyers - more choice, more trouble isn't it? Well, not to worry now look at some of the below models & decide what to u want to buy.Nokia 5610 XpressMusic The Nokia 5610 XpressMusic handset, priced around Rs.12,000, now becomes more affordable than it's market entry price of 14.5 K. It offers a large 2.2-inch screen and a 3.15MP camera with flash. A slider-phone this, its horizontal slider below the screen is the most unique feature of 5610. It lets you alternate between Music Player and the FM tuner. The phone, though touted to be all about music, packs a mere 512MB card; a 1GB would do much justice to the core purpose of this phone. A 3G ready phone, it also offers EDGE and...

Tune Up Your Windows XP Machine (for Free)
2008-03-16 22:42:00
Step-By-Step: Tune Up Your Windows XP Machine (for Free ) XP's own tools can boost its--and your PC's--performance. Stan Miastkowski Windows reminds me all too often of those finicky foreign sports cars of decades past. If you don't spend time tweaking, maintaining, and tuning it, it tends to run a little rough. A lot goes on under the hood to keep your XP-based PC running smoothly; but as you add, update, and delete software and data files, things can get sluggish. XP's built-in tweaking tools can boost your PC's performance. Windows XP has fewer built-in tools than earlier versions of Windows, though the tools available are more full-featured. Other more-sophisticated and automatic tune-up tools can be found in various suites and stand-alone utilities, as discussed in "The Trouble-Free PC." But if you're frugal, their cost (up to $90) may give you pause. XP's built-in tools, along with a few free add-ons, should be sufficient for most users and most situations. If ...

Lenovo 3000 Y410
2007-12-07 09:00:00
By: Jayesh MansukhaniThe laptop market has grown and matured over the last several years, and demand has built up steadily. Manufacturers have taken every measure to ensure they offer the largest possible range for virtually any kind of consumer. Now while consumer choice is always a good thing, it?s a different matter when the choice becomes just too bewildering and confusing for the average human being. Permit me to explain. I feel there's just too much choice available now and not enough clear differentiation in products based on actual performance. For example, take Sony?s VAIO range of laptops. This year alone the company introduced over 50 new models with near identical specs and different covers ? from 'nature themes' to dedications to obscure artists that no one has heard of.The same trend can be observed in products from Lenovo , Dell and HP ? Dell with its Inspiron range, Lenovo with the 3000 range, and HP with its 6x/9x range of machines. With that rant out of the way, l...
GSM does not want 2G auction
2007-11-03 20:52:00
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has shot off a stern letter to telecom minister A Raja, warning him of a barrage of litigation and disputes if any attempt is made by government to invite an auction for 2G spectrum. With this, the GSM industry has taken the newly appointed minister head on. The trigger for this open confrontation is reports proclaiming that DoT is considering an auction for 2G spectrum to enable level playing field between CDMA and GSM operators and existing and new licensees.CDMA operators' intent to bid for GSM spectrum is bitterly resented by GSM industry. On the one hand, existing operators and licensees seek priority of spectrum allocation over new applicants. COAI's letter is firm and unambiguous.GSM industry has sought the continuation of existing dispensation process in which spectrum allocation is linked to usage, which is in turn linked to the subscriber base of each operator. COAI wants government to stick to its prescribed road map of ...

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC Game)
2007-10-28 16:50:00
Do you remember Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory? It was a free download and a great multiplayer game. I remember spending hours playing online with my LAN buddies. The game was fast; it was intense, and the gun battles were engrossing. Well, this time around, the Enemy Territory franchise (it can be called a franchise now) has its second shot at PC gaming with the brilliantly designed Enemy Territory-Quake Wars (QW). The game is similar in gameplay to the Battlefield series, with a few different game modes. But QW is a different experience; it's more complicated and mind boggling (in a good way) than the Battldfield series. Read on to know more. Summary:The game focuses mainly on Multiplayer, but unlike the quake series, this isn't based on 1-on-1 combat. Instead, the combat focuses more on team effort. There are various classes that have special abilities -- all of which have to work together to accomplish the objective of the game. Let me discuss the classes in detail. Every game...

Philips 37PF9731

By Philip Wong,CNET.comThe good: 1,920 x 1,080 LCD panel; brilliant 3D-like pictures; strong onboard multimedia playback; soothing Ambilight function; eye-catching design; dual HDMI.The bad: No 1080p input capability; one component-video sockets; fuzzy PC text; mousey audio; pricey. The bottom line: The Philips 37PF9731 LCD TV delivers stunning pictures matched by a relaxing Ambilight Surround lighting system. The panel would have been perfect if not for some minor blemishes such as non-1080p input support and mousy audio. We first chanced upon the 9731- and 9831-series LCD TVs during Philips' Ambilight event held in Belgium earlier this year. Then, both models were centered on a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolution panel, plus a whole slew of new and enhanced in-house technologies.Fast forward to July and the latter was deprived of its ultra-high resolution badge due to mounting concern over high production costs. This left the Dutch company's 37PF9731 as the only 1,920 x 1,080-pixel mod...

2007-10-21 22:12:00
By ZDNet India Staff, September 20, 2007 Google has introduced two new ways for advertisers to communicate with users, Google Gadget Ads and AdSense for Mobile .Google Gadget Ads is an interactive ad format that is currently in an expanded beta with a select group of AdWords advertisers worldwide. AdSense for Mobile enhances the relevance of ads that will help people find what they're looking for quickly when they are searching or browsing content on their mobile phones. By Robert Vamosi, CNET News.com September 20, 2007Mozilla has fixed a vulnerability in how Apple QuickTime Media-Link files contain a qtnext attribute that could be used on Windows systems to launch the default browser with arbitrary command-line options.Although the problem appeared to be resolved earlier this year, researcher Petko D. Also, Apple's own fix in the release of QuickTime 7.1.5 last March failed to resolve the issue. The security update for Firefox has been automatically pushed out to current users. Samsung S850
2007-10-09 23:15:00
Just a handgrip away from being categorized as an ultracompact, the Samsung S850 is still small enough to fit in your pocket. Still, I'd much prefer a comfortable and slim compact over a flat ultracompact any day. The handgrip, though not too well defined, does a great job of keeping the camera steady in your hand. The overall button layout of the camera seems oriented more towards comfort than style ? which is just fine, as Samsung's NV series is doing enough for style already. The buttons are simple and easy to use even during single-handed operation. The 2.5 inch, 230,000 pixel screen works very well under most lighting conditions and gives a pretty fast preview. Even the menu and general interface are as fast and as simple as they can get. If I had a bone to pick about the camera's ergonomics, it would be that the power button is a little too sunk in to be easily reachable. But it really doesn't matter as the button is highly responsive, so you're never in doubt...
