The water-covered court was constructed in the 110ft swimming pool set in the Gansevoort's exclusive 22,000sqft rooftop retreat overlooking Miami's South Beach. The court took seven days to build as a specialist underwater team constructed two invisible platforms at either end of the pool for the players to stand and play using a combination of bespoke acrylic sheets and supporting acrylic tubes that were bonded together. Sony Ericsson sees moderating growth of mobile phone units with related eff
2008-03-20 08:14:00
Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications announces that moderating sales growth of mobile phone units is expected to negatively impact net sales and net income before tax (“NIBT”) for the first quarter of 2008. Slowing market growth of mid-to-high end phones in markets where Sony Ericsson has a strong presence is affecting sales. In addition, certain component shortages for popular mid-priced phones have contributed to modest unit sales growth in the first quarter. “As discussed during our fourth quarter 2007 Media and Analyst Call, the market is proving to be challenging. This has been more pronounced in the mid-to-high end replacement sector of the market in Europe, where Sony Ericsson has stronger than average market share,” says Dick Komiyama, President of Sony Ericsson. “For the last year, Sony Ericsson has been focused on expanding the breadth of its portfolio and developing its presence in new markets to lessen its historic reliance on the European high-end sector for gr...

Can Sony Ericsson Kill Someone?
2008-03-19 23:22:00
Human needs a weapon to protect himself from the beginning of his birth on our planet. At first it was simple things from wood or iron. Nowadays your security may be well disguised stun-guns which may have any shape and color. You’ll never guess - is it a toy, a lipstick or even a mobile?According to the rumors now you can be harmed by Sony Ericsson mobile phone. Well, you’ll think so at least. This new stun-gun looks like one of Sony Ericssons W series handset. It’s capable of delivering a 900,000-volt jolt. You never want to make a call with this phone, believe me.“Two men in their early 20s have been charged in connection with the seizure of the gun. They have been remanded in custody until June” says BBC news in March 2008.So by the decision of British authorities it was announced as an illegal weapon which is dangerous for human of any age. Will this fact decrease or increase Sony Ericsson rating? I don’t think so.References:http://www.securitysafetysp

Video: Opera Mobile 9.5 and Sony Ericsson UIQ Smartphones
2008-03-11 11:30:00
If you remember, there were some rumors in the Internet that the upcoming version of the Internet browser for mobile smarphones - Opera mobile 9.5, would not be available for older UIQ 3 phones (I mean Sony Ericsson P1i, W960, P990, e.t.c.). People were speculating that the new version would be only for new handsets, like Sony Ericsson G900, G700 or other upcoming phones and that was very bad news for me.You see, I'm a lucky owner of the Sony Ericsson P1i and I'm using Internet quite often and efficiently on this handset and as we know Opera Mobile is not replaceable in such cases (OK I know, I know that there is also Opera Mini too... But there are some web sites which are simply unusable in Opera Mini)... So i was very happy when I saw this video on the zdnet blog. This video is demonstrating some new features of the upcoming Opera Mobile 9.5 and guess what? It's running on Sony Ericsson P1i :)Can’t wait to try it out.

N-Gage vs. PSPhone
2008-03-04 13:11:00
It looks like Nokia is watching for rumors about Sony Ericsson's PSP Phone (Or PSPhone) and looks like they have some doubts about Sony Ericsson’s ability to produce a gaming handset.Nokia games boss Jaakko Kaidesoja at an N-Gage press event in Lapland said:"I'm not scared about anybody," - "The real question is how do they do it? Can they create a link between the PSP games and a phone? Can they do the multiplayer and online stuff? We've been doing this for two years and it hasn't been easy."I think realization of the PSPhone is under a big question mark, but it seems that Nokia looks at it in another way, or why to loose time for comments like this? And maybe it's not easy for Nokia, but for SONY? I don't think so :) The matter is that, if PSPhone will be released, first strike will be on Nokia's N-Gage platform. But while we are reading yet another rumors about PSPhone, meanwhile, Nokia is preparing to commercially release the new N-Gage application for its N82 and N95 h...
Spy/Leaked Picture of Sony Ericsson's Super Handset?
2008-02-28 14:13:00
I am speechless. This is one of the most awesome handsets I've ever seen!Today I got a really (and I mean really :D) interesting e-mail from someone seeming to be one of our readers. The e-mail mentioned some warm words about our blog and contained one very interesting picture. Is this a leaked (or spy) photo of the upcoming handset from Sony Ericsson? To me, this device seems to be a high-end handset from the XPERIA line.To be honest, when I first saw this photo, I thought that it was not yet announced Paris (Sony Ericsson P5) and my gladness had no borders. I've been waiting for P5 for quite long, but the device on the photo is obviously a new High-End XPERIA handset!... And this is why I think so.First off all, I think you'll agree that the whole look of the handset resembles that of the recently announced Sony Ericsson X1. Second, it's obviously based on Windows Mobile OS. The picture on the screen speaks the same... And I think Paris (Sony Ericsson P5) or Sony Ericsson's ot...

New Handsets - New Classification
2008-02-26 12:25:00
It looks like that the present classification of the Sony Ericsson's entire product range is getting old and if we are to believe to various web sources, Sony Ericsson has decided to change it.The name format will be same, one letter and three numbers (K800, M600, G900...) but the weird naming will be changed with a new, more logical scheme. The upcoming phones won't carry the typical "i" in the end of the handset names, good example and first handsets of it is the new handsets from Radio line - Sony Ericsson R300 and Sony Ericsson R306.New scheme is shown on the picture above on the example of of the the new smartphone Sony Ericsson G900.The first letter in the gray slot is representing the series of the handset, like: "W" - Walkman; "X"- Xperia; "C" - Cyber-Shot; "R" - Radio and e.t.c.The number in the second, blue slot shows the range of the device, like: 9...8.../High-End; 7...6...5.../Mid-Range; 4...3...2...1/Low-End.The third slot contains model version numbers and the last, ...
New Leaked Slider From Sony Ericsson
2008-02-25 13:48:00 recently has published pictures of the unknown slider from Sony Ericsson with the prototype number - SE123.Sliding housing of the device seems to be made of brushed metal, like Sony Ericsson P1i and design of the phone a little bit looks like that of P1i. Small screen and a whole look of this device speaks that the phone belongs to the Low-End range, plus there is no front (3G) camera, but most unusual is that, the phone has no buttons on the sides.Back side of the phone raises more questions, What is that weird hill in the bottom? That spoils whole design of the handset :(

Handsets With Projectors - The Future is Coming
2008-02-22 11:47:00
We can say that modern handsets contain practically everything to satisfy all of our needs. We have everything and it's only stays to enhance the performance of the already existing technologies...But what about PROJECTOR in your pocket? :D Isn't it fantastic?Sony Ericsson has filed a patent applications for self adjusting mobile phone projector.A device includes a projector to project an image onto a surface; a camera to capture a picture of the image while it is being projected onto the surface; and log...

Super Speaker MAS-100
2008-02-22 11:09:00
As for me I prefer other labels to Sony Ericsson, but usually it can be pretty exotic when it comes to mobile phone speakers. I do like Sonny Ericsson accessories, because they are pretty weird at one end of the spectrum and utterly practical at the other.Take, for example, its new Active Speaker MAS-100. You just need to connect your phone inside it, zip it up and listen to music on it through the speaker. You can even use any Sonny Ericsson music phone.Plus, MAS-100 is sand-proof, splash-proof, for those who love working, playing or relaxing outside.Like every Sonny Ericsson accessories MAS-100 is designed for the modern consumer. It has style in mind, superior sound and fast port that connects an Active Speaker MAS-100 to your phone.A built in antenna FM radio reception enables you to tune in your favorite station and play it out loud through speakers designed for your phone.Oh, I almost forgot, the only battery you need to keep your eye on is your phone battery when you use the ...

It seems that all of the official announcements have been made and it's time to get back to the rumors, leaked pictures of the upcoming phones, e.t.c. :)Recently new pictures of the Sony Ericsson 's new handset have been leaked on the Internet. It looks like that this photo has been taken from some kind of journal or magazine...So what can we see on the picture and what kind of conclusion can we get from these leaked photos? The phone is a clamshell and the look of the housing remains that of the handsets from Z Series, "Mobile Web Companion" talks about that the phone is hi-speed Internet enabled and has convenient Internet browser, "Always Know Your Location" talks about that the phone is GPS enabled, the inscription "Bluetooth Car Handsfree" talks about that the phone is equipped with Bluetooth module (I guess A2DP) and I think, the inscription on the top left corner - "Compact Power" means that the phone is at least Mid-Range and not Low-End...Source

Moto vs Sony Ericsson
2008-01-26 00:05:00
Last year Samsung overtook Moto rola as the second-largest phone manufacturer. Now, the flailing Razr-maker risks ceding third place to Sony Ericsson . Oh, my!Motorola released yet another round of disappointing earnings — profit from continuing operations fell to $111 million from the year-ago $523 million, as handset sales plunged 38 percent. In his first earnings report as acting CEO, Motorola’s Greg Brown told analysts that the mobile devices unit “remains challenged.” What’s more, Brown warned it would likely be into 2009 before Motorola has a “robust and competitive portfolio.”If Motorola keeps stumbling and Sony Ericsson marches on, their market positions could soon be reversed. “If Motorola doesn’t bring something entirely new by 2009, you will probably see the switch happening by then,” says Ping Zhao, a telecom analyst with Credit Sights.Sony Ericsson’s global market share stood at 8.8 percent in the third quarter of 2007, according to technology researc...
